Large tuning of Surface Plasmon Resonance of Au-fullerene nanocomposite

        Ritu Vishnoi,Satakshi Gupta,Ganesh D. Sharma,Rahul Singhal 대한금속·재료학회 2019 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.15 No.1

Gold–fullerene C 60 nanocomposite thin fi lms prepared by thermal co-deposition were irradiated by a high energy beam of120 MeV Ag ions using Pelletron accelerator. Absorption spectra revealed a large and progressive tuning of surface plasmonresonance wavelength when the fi lms were irradiated at higher fl uences. This blue shift (~ 119 nm) can be ascribed to theevolution of fullerene into amorphous carbon upon bombardment of high energy ions at higher fl uences and causes a shiftin refractive index of the matrix. Raman spectra ascertained this transformation with the presence of two bands: D and Gband. Ion irradiation also leads to the formation of bigger size Au nanoparticles with well defi ned spherical shape at higherfl uences as confi rmed by TEM. XRD results demonstrated decrease in FWHM of diff raction peaks indicating the increasein particle size which is in agreement with the result obtained from TEM analysis.

Alteration of Genetic Make-up in Karnal Bunt Pathogen (Tilletia indica) of Wheat in Presence of Host Determinants

Gupta, Atul K.,Seneviratne, J.M.,Bala, Ritu,Jaiswal, J.P.,Kumar, Anil The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2015 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.31 No.2

Alteration of genetic make-up of the isolates and mono-sporidial strains of Tilletia indica causing Karnal bunt (KB) disease in wheat was analyzed using DNA markers and SDS-PAGE. The generation of new variation with different growth characteristics is not a generalized feature and is not only dependant on the original genetic make up of the base isolate/monosporidial strains but also on interaction with host. Host determinant(s) plays a significant role in the generation of variability and the effect is much pronounced in monosporidial strains with narrow genetic base as compared to broad genetic base. The most plausible explanation of genetic variation in presence of host determinant(s) are the recombination of genetic material from two different mycelial/sporidia through sexual mating as well as through parasexual means. The morphological and development dependent variability further suggests that the variation in T. indica strains predominantly derived through the genetic rearrangements.

Although prostate cancer can metastasize to any part of the body, isolated testicular metastasis is very rare and only few cases have been reported so far. Here we present a case of 65-year-old male patient, known case of prostate adenocarcinoma, referred for 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT scan, post radiotherapy, and androgen deprivation therapy, for rising serum PSA levels. He was found to have an isolated testicular metastasis on the scan. This report highlights the importance of 68Ga-PSMA PET-CT scan in detecting these unusual and rare sites of metastasis from prostate cancer.

      • EDNN based prediction of strength and durability properties of HPC using fibres & copper slag

        Gupta, Mohit,Raj, Ritu,Sahu, Anil Kumar Techno-Press 2022 Advances in concrete construction Vol.14 No.3

For producing cement and concrete, the construction field has been encouraged by the usage of industrial soil waste (or) secondary materials since it decreases the utilization of natural resources. Simultaneously, for ensuring the quality, the analyses of the strength along with durability properties of that sort of cement and concrete are required. The prediction of strength along with other properties of High-Performance Concrete (HPC) by optimization and machine learning algorithms are focused by already available research methods. However, an error and accuracy issue are possessed. Therefore, the Enhanced Deep Neural Network (EDNN) based strength along with durability prediction of HPC was utilized by this research method. Initially, the data is gathered in the proposed work. Then, the data's pre-processing is done by the elimination of missing data along with normalization. Next, from the pre-processed data, the features are extracted. Hence, the data input to the EDNN algorithm which predicts the strength along with durability properties of the specific mixing input designs. Using the Switched Multi-Objective Jellyfish Optimization (SMOJO) algorithm, the weight value is initialized in the EDNN. The Gaussian radial function is utilized as the activation function. The proposed EDNN's performance is examined with the already available algorithms in the experimental analysis. Based on the RMSE, MAE, MAPE, and R2 metrics, the performance of the proposed EDNN is compared to the existing DNN, CNN, ANN, and SVM methods. Further, according to the metrices, the proposed EDNN performs better. Moreover, the effectiveness of proposed EDNN is examined based on the accuracy, precision, recall, and F-Measure metrics. With the already-existing algorithms i.e., JO, GWO, PSO, and GA, the fitness for the proposed SMOJO algorithm is also examined. The proposed SMOJO algorithm achieves a higher fitness value than the already available algorithm.

Genetic variability, associations, and path analysis of chemical and morphological traits in Indian ginseng [Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal] for selection of higher yielding genotypes

        Srivastava, Abhilasha,Gupta, Anil K.,Shanker, Karuna,Gupta, Madan M.,Mishra, Ritu,Lal, Raj K. The Korean Society of Ginseng 2018 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.42 No.2

Background: The study was carried out to assess the genetic variability present in ashwagandha and to examine the nature of associations of various traits to the root yield of the plant. Methods: Fifty-three diverse genetic stocks of ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) were evaluated for 14 quantitative characteristics. Analysis of variance, correlation, and path coefficient analysis were performed using the mean data of 2 years. Results: Analysis of variance revealed that the genotypes differed significantly for all characteristics studied. High heritability in conjunction with high genetic advance was observed for fresh root weight, 12 deoxywithastramonolide in roots, and plant height, which indicated that selection could be effective for these traits. Dry root weight has a tight linkage with plant height and fresh root weight. Further, in path coefficient analysis, fresh root weight, total alkaloid (%) in leaves, and 12 deoxywithastramonolide (%) in roots had the highest positive direct effect on dry root weight. Conclusion: Therefore, these characteristics can be exploited to improve dry root weight in ashwagandha genotypes and there is also scope for the selection of promising and specific chemotypes (based on the alkaloid content) from the present germplasm.

Exclusive enteral nutrition for induction of remission in anti-tumor necrosis factor refractory adult Crohn’s disease: the Indian experience

( Ajit Sood ),( Arshdeep Singh ),( Ritu Sudhakar ),( Vandana Midha ),( Ramit Mahajan ),( Varun Mehta ),( Yogesh Kumar Gupta ),( Kirandeep Kaur ) 대한장연구학회 2020 Intestinal Research Vol.18 No.2

Background/Aims: Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) is recommended for induction of remission in pediatric Crohn’s disease (CD). However, it is not currently recommended for inducing remission in adults. This report describes the use of 12-week EEN for induction of remission in anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) refractory adult CD. Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of adults with moderate to severe active (Crohn’s Disease Activity Index [CDAI] >220) anti-TNF refractory CD, who received EEN for 12 weeks between April 2018 and March 2019 at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, India. Primary outcomes included achievement of clinical remission and fistula healing at 12 weeks. Improvement in inflammatory markers and nutritional status were the secondary end points. Results: Out of 23 patients who received anti-TNF agents, 7 (30.4%) were refractory and were offered EEN as a salvage therapy. Six patients (66.7% females, mean age 25.6±6.5 years) consented. Four patients (66.6%) achieved clinical remission (CDAI <150). Mean CDAI of patients decreased significantly after 12 weeks of EEN (388.8±74.8 vs. 160.0±25.2, P< 0.001). Perianal fistulas showed clinical response (drainage decreased by >50%), though none achieved remission. Entero-enteric fistulae showed complete healing. Mean body mass index improved from 15.6±3.1 to 18.9±1.9 kg/m2 at week 12 (P=0.003). Hemoglobin and serum albumin also improved from 8.2±1.1 g/dL and 2.8±0.3 g/dL at baseline to 12.6±0.6 g/dL and 3.6±0.5 g/dL post-EEN respectively (P<0.001 and P=0.006 respectively). Conclusions: EEN appears to be an effective and well tolerated therapy for induction of remission in anti-TNF refractory adult CD. More data from prospective trials with larger number of patients is required. (Intest Res 2020;18:184-191)

A Fuzzy-Goal Programming Approach For Bilevel Linear Multiple Objective Decision Making Problem

        S.R. Arora,Ritu Gupta 한국경영과학회 2007 Management Science and Financial Engineering Vol.13 No.2

This paper presents a fuzzy-goal programming (FGP) approach for Bi-Level Linear Multiple Objective Decision Making (BLL-MODM) problem in a large hierarchical decision making and planning organization. The proposed approach combines the attractive features of both fuzzy set theory and goal programming (GP) for MODM problem. The GP problem has been developed by fixing the weights and aspiration levels for generating pareto-optimal (satisfactory) solution at each level for BLL-MODM problem. The higher level decision maker (HLDM) provides the preferred values of decision vector under his control and bounds of his objective function to direct the lower level decision maker (LLDM) to search for his solution in the right direction. Illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the proposed approach.

Incidental benefits after fecal microbiota transplant for ulcerative colitis

( Ramit Mahajan ),( Vandana Midha ),( Arshdeep Singh ),( Varun Mehta ),( Yogesh Gupta ),( Kirandeep Kaur ),( Ritu Sudhakar ),( Anmol Singh Pannu ),( Dharmatma Singh ),( Ajit Sood ) 대한장연구학회 2020 Intestinal Research Vol.18 No.3

Gut dysbiosis can result in several diseases, including infections (Clostridium difficile infection and infectious gastroenteritis), autoimmune diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and allergic disorders), behavioral disorders and other conditions like metabolic syndrome and functional gastrointestinal disorders. Amongst various therapies targeting gut microbiome, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is becoming a focus in the public media and peer reviewed literature. We have been using FMT for induction of remission in patients with moderate to severe active ulcerative colitis (UC) and also for subsequent maintenance of remission. Four cases reported incidental benefits while being treated with FMT for UC. These included weight loss (n = 1), improvement in hair loss (n = 1), amelioration of axial arthritis (n = 1) and improvement in allergic rhinitis (n = 1), thereby suggesting potential clinical applications of FMT in treating extraintestinal diseases associated with gut dysbiosis. Comparative analysis of VMT genes/proteins in selected plant species with emphasis on bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

        Sharma Hemant,Shayaba,Kumar Rahul,Kumar Jitendra,Bhadana Deepa,Batra Ritu,Singh Rakhi,Kumar Sachin,Roy Joy K,Balyan Harindra S.,Gupta Pushpendra K. 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.11

Background In recent years, the study of molecular basis of uptake, transport and utilization of grain Fe/Zn (GFe/GZn) in wheat has been an active area of research. As a result, it has been shown that a number of transporters are involved in uptake and transport of Fe. In a recent study, knockout of a transporter gene OsVMT (VACUOLAR MUGINEIC ACID TRANSPORTER) in rice was shown to be involved in Fe homoeostasis. Objective In this study, we analysed VMT genes among six monocots and three dicots with major emphasis on wheat VMT genes (TaVMTs), taking OsVMT gene as a reference. Methods and results Using OsVMT gene as a reference, VMT genes were identified and sequence similarities were examined among six monocots and three dicots. Each VMT protein carried one functional domain and 7 to 10 distinct motifs (including 9 novel motifs). The qRT-PCR analysis showed differential expression by all the six TaVMT genes in pairs of contrasting wheat genotypes with high (FAR4 and WB02) and low (K8027 and HD3226) GFe/GZn at two different grain filling stages (14 DAA and 28 DAA). TaVMT1 genes showed up-regulation in high GFe/Zn genotypes relative to low GFe/Zn genotypes, whereas the TaVMT2 genes showed down-regulation or nonsignificant up-regulation in a few cases. Conclusions At 14 DAA, each of the six TaVMT genes exhibited higher expression in wheat genotypes with high GFe and GZn relative to those with low GFe and GZn, suggesting major role of VMT genes in improvement of grain Fe/Zn homoeostasis, thus making TaVMT genes useful for improvement in Fe/Zn in wheat grains.
