Grammatical inference methods are expected to find grammatical structures hidden in biological sequences. One hopes that studies of grammar serve as an appropriate tool for theory formation. Thus, we have developed JSequitur for automatically generating the grammatical structure of biological sequences in an inference framework of string compression algorithms. Our original motivation was to find any grammatical traits of several cancer genes that can be detected by string compression algorithms. Through this research, we could not find any meaningful unique traits of the cancer genes yet, but we could observe some interesting traits in regards to the relationship among gene length, similarity of sequences, the patterns of the generated grammar, and compression rate.

This study attempted to discover specific transformational leadership behaviors affects the implementation of knowledge sharing process in innovative and non-innovative firms in Mongolia. In order to assess leadership behaviors, knowledge conversion and organizational culture in organization research employed Likert’s Scale and used SPSS program(reliability test, correlation covariance matrix, reliability test, hierarchical regression analysis, exploratory factor analysis, coefficient, chi-squire and other if necessary) to analyze data extracted from questionnaires. Lastly, we have conducted quadrant analyses to recommend effective knowledge sharing process due to providing set of effective knowledge conversion process in firms for innovative, non-innovative firms and overall companies in Mongolia as well.

Treating genomes just as languages raises the possibility of producing concise generalizations about information in biological sequences. Grammars used in this way would constitute a model of underlying biological processes or structures, and that grammars may,in fact, serve as an appropriate tool for theory formation. The increasing number of biological sequences that have been yielded further highlights a growing need for developing grammatical systems in bioinformatics. The intent of this review is therefore to list some bibliographic references regarding the recent progresses in the field of grammatical modeling of biological sequences. This review will also contain some sections to briefly introduce basic knowledge about formal language theory, such as the Chomsky hierarchy, for non-experts in computational linguistics, and to provide some helpful pointers to start a deeper investigation into this field.

Standard readability measures are based on the readability of non-fiction texts. This means that the validity of the measures when applied to fiction texts is questionable. Thus, the scores given to fiction texts using such indices may be invalid when used by English teachers to identify fiction texts of appropriate difficulty for students with various reading ability levels. This paper attempts to address this problem by 1) developing a readability measure specifically designed for fiction texts and 2) applying it to 200 English fiction texts. A corpus, consisting of 100 adults and 100 children s texts, is used for the analysis. In the initial modeling, several standard readability measures are used as variables, and machine learning is used to create a classifier which is able to classify the corpus with an accuracy of 84%. A second classifier is then created using linguistic variables rather than standard readability measures. The latter classifier is able to classify the corpus with an accuracy of 89%, indicating that the standard readability measures are less accurate in classifying fiction texts than linguistic variables. Due to its higher accuracy, the latter classifier is then used to provide a linear complexity or readability rank for each text. The ranking using the linguistic-based classifier provides an more accurate method of determining which texts to choose for students according to their reading levels than the standard readability measures. Importantly, the ranking instantiates a fine-grained increase in complexity. This means that the ranking can be used by an English teacher to select a sequence of texts that represent an increasing challenge to a student without there being a frustratingly discrete rise in difficulty.

The characteristics of metabolic pathways make them particularly amenable to layered graph drawing methods. This paper presents a visual Java-based tool for drawing and annotating biological pathways in twoand- a-half dimensions (2.5D) as an alternative to threedimensional (3D) visualizations. Such visualization allows user to display different groups of clustered nodes, in different parallel planes, and to see a detailed view of a group of objects in focus and its place in the context of the whole system. This tool is an extended version of J2dPathway.
