Eco-efficiency Analysis of Urban Agglomeration in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River

Minghui Chen,Jianjun Miao 한국유통과학회 2019 The Journal of Industrial Distribution & Business( Vol.10 No.1

Purpose - Urban agglomeration construction is one of national strategic plans to accelerate the development of industrialization and urbanization in China, which has threatened the eco-environmental quality at the same time. This paper selected the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River as the research area. Research design, data, and methodology - The the slack-based measurement (SBM) model considering undesirable outputs is applied to measure the eco-efficiency of this urban agglomerations during 2006-2015. Results - The empirical results show that average eco-efficiency of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is 0.595. Regional ecological development is unbalanced. The highest eco-efficiency is recorded at Wuhan Metropolitan Area, and the lowest one is at the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Group. Energy consumption and waste dust emissions are the key factors led to ecological inefficiency. Based on this, potentials for energy saving and waste dust reducing are calculated. Conclusions - Finally, this study provides policy implications targeted to promote the coordinating development of economy and eco-environment under the construction of urban agglomeration.

Non-probabilistic Integrated Reliability Analysis of Structures with Fuzzy Interval Uncertainties using the Adaptive GPR-RS Method

        Minghui Liu,Xiaoling Wang,Xiaobin Zhu,Wenlong Chen,Xiao Li 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.9

Due to its weak dependence on the quantity of variable samples, the non-probabilistic reliability analysis method based on the convex set model is applicable to practical problems in structural engineering with inherent uncertainties. However, when dealing with the black-box limit-state function issues in practical complex structural engineering, the traditional quadratic polynomial response surface (QP-RS) method has the problem of insufficient precision in approximating a highly nonlinear function. Meanwhile, fixing the limits of interval variables is trickier in case of scant samples and meager statistical information. To remedy the above deficiencies, this paper introduces a reasonable integrated reliability analysis approach. First, an adaptive Gaussian process regression response surface (GPR-RS) method that dynamically improves the fitted accuracy near the design point of the black-box limit-state function is formulated. Furthermore, the integrated reliability index with consideration of fuzzy interval uncertainties is presented. Three validation and two application examples are employed, which have justified the approach as a more reasonable assessor of practical complex structural reliability with safer results.

Three new ent-abietane diterpenoids from the roots of Euphorbia fischeriana and their cytotoxicity in human tumor cell lines

        Minghui Li,Fang He,Yuan Zhou,Meigui Wang,Pingde Tao,Qingmei Tu,Guanghui Lv,Xintao Chen 대한약학회 2019 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.42 No.6

Three new ent-abietane diterpenoids, termed fischerianoids A–C (1–3), were isolated and identified from the ethyl acetate extracts of roots of the medicinally valuable plant Euphorbia fischeriana. The planar and relative structures of 1–3 were established via high-resolution electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry and one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analyses, and the absolute configuration of 1 was further established via X-ray crystallography experiment. Compounds 1–3 showed selective inhibitory potency against certain human tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 8.50 ± 0.13 to 35.52 ± 0.08 μM.

Parametric study on nonlinear vibration of composite truss core sandwich plate with internal resonance

        Jianen Chen,Wei Zhang,Min Sun,Minghui Yao,Jun Liu 대한기계학회 2016 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.30 No.9

Nonlinear vibrations of carbon fiber reinforced composite sandwich plate with pyramidal truss core are investigated. The governing equation of motion for the sandwich plate is derived by using a Zig-Zag theory under consideration of geometrically nonlinear. The natural frequencies of sandwich plates with different dimensions are calculated and compared with those obtained from the classic laminated plate theory and Reddy’s third-order shear deformation plate theory. The frequency responses and waveforms of the sandwich plate when 1:3 internal resonance occurs are obtained, and the characteristics of the internal resonance are discussed. The influences of layer number of face sheet, strut radius, core height and inclination angle on the nonlinear responses of the sandwich plate are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the strut radius and inclination angle mainly affect the resonance frequency band of the sandwich plate, and the layer number and core height not only influence the resonance frequency band but also significantly affect the response amplitude.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment of RCC Dam Considering Grey-Stochastic-Fuzzy Uncertainty

        Wenlong Chen,Xiaoling Wang,Minghui Liu,Yushan Zhu,Shaohui Deng 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.11

Greyness, randomness and fuzziness are three inseparable uncertainty factors influencing the safety of a roller compacted concrete dam (RCC dam), which can be regarded as a system reliability problem associated with multiple failure modes. Aiming at the current probabilistic risk analysis of RCC dams, most of the studies limited to single failure mode and single uncertainty. A probabilistic risk assessment method for dam under Grey-Stochastic-Fuzzy (GSF) uncertainty is proposed to consider the randomness and greyness of parameters and the fuzziness of the failure criteria. First, the fault tree model of an RCC dam is established based on Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). Then, bootstrap repeated sampling is embedded into grey system theory to quantify the grey properties of stochastic variables. The Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) function is improved to compensate for the inability of describing the fuzzy failure criteria. Finally, considering the correlated multiple failure modes, the proposed method is applied to analyze the parameter sensitivity and failure probability of the LDL dam in China. The results show that the proposed method is a high-efficiency, fastconvergence and more scientific method with reasonable outputs compared to common uncertainty probability analysis methods. The proposed method also provides an effective basis for the structural design and safety analysis of a concrete dam.

Musca domestica Pupae Lectin Improves the Immunomodulatory Activity of Macrophages by Activating Nuclear Factor-jB

        Xiaohong Cao,Minghui Zhou,Chunling Wang,Lihua Hou,Yuanyuan Li,Linye Chen 한국식품영양과학회 2012 Journal of medicinal food Vol.15 No.2

In this study, Musca domestica pupae lectin (MPL) was screened for its immunomodulatory effect on macrophages. The phagocytosis of macrophages was improved significantly when they were treated with MPL: remarkable changes were observed in the morphology of the cells, the metabolic abilities of DNA and RNA were enhanced, and the production of hepatin was increased. Meanwhile, compared with the control group, not only the mRNA expressions of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interferon-c (IFN-c) in macrophages, but also the productions of proteins, were strongly induced by MPL; these effects were inhibited by pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate. Further study suggested that MPL could increase the nuclear factor-jB (NF-jB) p65 level in the nucleus. Overall, these results indicate that the improving immunomodulatory activity induced by MPL is mainly due to the increasing productions of TNF-a, IL-6, and IFN-c and that the activation of macrophage by MPL is partly mediated via the NF-jB pathway.

Comparative Genomics Uncovers the Genetic Diversity and Synthetic Biology of Secondary Metabolite Production of Trametes

( Yan Zhang ),( Jingjing Wang ),( Chen Yajun ),( Minghui Zhou ),( Wei Wang ),( Ming Geng ),( Decong Xu ),( Zhongdong Xu ) 한국균학회 2020 Mycobiology Vol.48 No.2

The carbohydrate-active enzyme (CAZyme) genes of Trametes contribute to polysaccharide degradation. However, the comprehensive analysis of the composition of CAZymes and the biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) of Trametes remain unclear. Here, we conducted comparative analysis, detected the CAZyme genes, and predicted the BGCs for nine Trametes strains. Among the 82,053 homologous clusters obtained for Trametes, we identified 8518 core genes, 60,441 accessory genes, and 13,094 specific genes. A large proportion of CAZyme genes were cataloged into glycoside hydrolases, glycosyltransferases, and carbohydrate esterases. The predicted BGCs of Trametes were divided into six strategies, and the nine Trametes strains harbored 47.78 BGCs on average. Our study revealed that Trametes exhibits an open pan-genome structure. These findings provide insights into the genetic diversity and explored the synthetic biology of secondary metabolite production for Trametes.

Learning-based client selection for multiple federated learning services with constrained monetary budgets

        Cheng Zhipeng,Fan Xuwei,Chen Ning,Liwang Minghui,Huang Lianfen,Wang Xianbin 한국통신학회 2023 ICT Express Vol.9 No.6

We investigate a data quality-aware dynamic client selection problem for multiple federated learning (FL) services in a wireless network, where each client offers dynamic datasets for the simultaneous training of multiple FL services, and each FL service demander has to pay for the clients under constrained monetary budgets. The problem is formalized as a non-cooperative Markov game over the training rounds. A multi-agent hybrid deep reinforcement learning-based algorithm is proposed to optimize the joint client selection and payment actions, while avoiding action conflicts. Simulation results indicate that our proposed algorithm can significantly improve training performance.

Dynamic and static properties of sandwich-like graphene-reinforced composite plate

Min Sun,Wen-xing Lu,Minghui Yao,Jianen Chen 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.6

A graphene-reinforced composite plate (GRCP) with a sandwich-like structure is proposed. The nonlinear mechanical characteristics of the sandwich-like GRCP are investigated and compared to those of functionally graded and uniform GRCPs. The modified HalpinTsai model is employed to estimate the material parameters, and the Hamilton principle is used to derive the governing equation for the composite plates. The effects of the graphene nanoplatelet (GPL) distribution patterns, weight fraction, and the number of layers on the static and dynamic nonlinear responses of the plates are investigated. The results show that the various GPL distribution patterns have different enhancement effects on plates. Compared with the graded and uniform distribution patterns, the sandwich-like distribution pattern has significant advantages in terms of anti-vibration and anti-bending properties. Furthermore, it is found that the stresses of the sandwich-like GRCPs are discontinuous, there exist stress mutation phenomena between the surface layers and the pure matrix layer.

Control of Advanced Reactor-coupled Heat Exchanger System: Incorporation of Reactor Dynamics in System Response to Load Disturbances

        Isaac Skavdahl,Vivek Utgikar,Richard Christensen,Minghui Chen,Xiaodong Sun,Piyush Sabharwall 한국원자력학회 2016 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.48 No.6

Alternative control schemes for an Advanced High Temperature Reactor system consisting of a reactor, an intermediate heat exchanger, and a secondary heat exchanger (SHX) are presented in this paper. One scheme is designed to control the cold outlet temperature of the SHX (Tco) and the hot outlet temperature of the intermediate heat exchanger (Tho2) by manipulating the hot-side flow rates of the heat exchangers (Fh/Fh2) responding to the flow rate and temperature disturbances. The flow rate disturbances typically require a larger manipulation of the flow rates than temperature disturbances. An alternate strategy examines the control of the cold outlet temperature of the SHX (Tco) only, since this temperature provides the driving force for energy production in the power conversion unit or the process application. The control can be achieved by three options: (1) flow rate manipulation; (2) reactor power manipulation; or (3) a combination of the two. The first option has a quicker response but requires a large flow rate change. The second option is the slowest but does not involve any change in the flow rates of streams. The third option appears preferable as it has an intermediate response time and requires only a minimal flow rate change.
