        승마 추출물의 항알레르기 효과

        Effects of the aqueous extract of Cimicifuga heracleifolia (CHAE) on the allergic reactions were investigated. CHAE inhibited systemic anaphylaxis induced by compound 48/80 in mice dose-dependently. Especially, CHAE inhibited compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylaxis 100% with a dose of 0.5mg/g body weight. CHAE significantly inhibited serum histamine levels induced by compound 48/80. CHAE inhibited histamine release from the rat peritonea] mast cells activated by compound 48/80 or anti-DNP IgE. Our studies provide evidence that CHAE will be beneficial in the treatment of anaphylias.

        어휘 항목에 기인하는 무한이접성

        영어와 한국어를 비롯한 여러 언어에는 어휘 항목에의해 유발되는 무한이접성을 보이는 구문들이 있다. 이들 구무에는 해당 구문을 형성하게 해 주면서 동시에 문장내의 다른 부분을 허가하는 속성을 가진 특정 어휘 항목이 들어 있다. 그 어휘 항목과 그것에 의해 허가되는 부분은 비연속적으로 나타날 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 서로 다른 절에 나타날 수도 있다. 이런 현상을 이 논문에서는 "어휘 항목에 기인하는 무한이접성(LTD)"이라고 부른다. 이 글의 목적은 LTD 구문을 "인덱스 구구조문법" 체계로 분석한 논문들을 소개하면서 그 체계의 효율성을 보여 주는 것이다. 이 문법 체계는 영어의 LTD 구문들을 분석하기 위해 Chae(1992b)에서 도입된 것인데. 한국어 LTD 구문들도 적절하게 잘 분석할 수 있다. 가장 전형적인 한국어 LTD 구문은 "호응부사어 구문"이다.(Chae 2003. 2004b. 2004c). 여기서 호응 부사어는 특정의 어미를 가진 동사를 허가하며 그 동사보다 하위 절에 나타날 수도 있다. 그 외 명사적 특성과 동사적 특성을 동시에 가지고 있기 때문에 분석이 매우 어려운 "경동사 구문"과 동명사 구문"도 다루고 있다. (Chae 2002. 2004a; Chae, to appear). 우리는 인덱스 구구조문법 체계로 LTD 구문의 독특한 속성을 효과적으로 잘 설명할 수 있음을 알게 될 것이다.

        Signal Transduction of the Protective Effect of Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 on Adriamycin-Induced Apoptosis in Cardiac Muscle Cells

        To determine whether Insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I) treatment represents a potential means of enhancing the survival of cardiac muscle cells from adriamycin (ADR)-induced cell death, the present study examined the ability of IGF-I to prevent cell death. The study was performed utilising the embryonic, rat, cardiac muscle cell line, H9C2. Incubating cardiac muscle cells in the presence of adriamycin increased cell death, as determined by MTT assay and annexin V-positive cell number. The addition of 100 ng/mL IGF-I, in the presence of adriamycin, decreased apoptosis. The effect of IGF-I on phosphorylation of PI, a substrate of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-kinase) or protein kinase B (AKT), was also examined in H9C2 cardiac muscle cells. IGF-I increased the phosphorylation of ERK 1 and 2 and $PKC{\;}{\zeta}{\;}kinase$. The use of inhibitors of PI 3-kinase (LY 294002), in the cell death assay, demonstrated partial abrogation of the protective effect of IGF-I. The MEK1 inhibitor-PD098059 and the PKC inhibitor-chelerythrine exhibited no effect on IGF-1-induced cell protection. In the regulatory subunit of PI3K-p85- dominant, negative plasmid-transfected cells, the IGF-1-induced protective effect was reversed. This data demonstrates that IGF-I protects cardiac muscle cells from ADR-induced cell death. Although IGF-I activates several signaling pathways that contribute to its protective effect in other cell types, only activation of PI 3-kinase contributes to this effect in H9C2 cardiac muscle cells.

        Estrogen Attenuates Cardiac Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury via Inhibition of Calpain-Mediated Bid Cleavage

        Although several studies have shown that the administration of $17{\beta}$-estradiol (estrogen) is cardioprotective to ischemia-reperfusion (I/R), the molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. Therefore, we investigated the effects of estrogen on myocardial I/R injury in rat that were sham operated (Sham), ovariectomized (OVX), or ovariectomized and then given estrogen supplementation (OE). Langendorff-perfused rat hearts were subjected to I/R stimuli and the effects of estrogen were examined on cardiac performance. Additionally, we examined the mechanism of estrogen-mediated inhibition of apoptosis. Depression in cardiac contractile function and an increment of calpain activity were observed during I/R in the OVX rats. Estrogen replacement recovered cardiac contractile function and attenuated calpain activity, Bid cleavage, and caspases activities. Through in vitro assay using cardiomyocytes, we demonstrated that addition of $H_2O_2\;(100{\mu}M)$ significantly increased calpain activity, which was attenuated by estrogen. Moreover, calpain activity was inhibited by calpain inhibitors such as ALLN or leupeptin, but not by caspase-8 inhibitor peptide. These results suggest that estrogen protects the heart against I/R injury through the decrease of calpain activity, Bid cleavage and caspase-8 activity. These apoptotic mechanisms may playa critical role on I/R-associated cardiac damage.

        Micro X-ray CT 촬영을 통한 동결 사질토 시료의 세립분 함유량에 따른 입자간 거리 분석

        Chae et al.(2015)에 따르면 동결 사질토의 역학적 거동은 동결온도와 세립분 함유량에 따라 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 원인으로 동결온도에 따른 부동수분의 차이일 것이라는 의견과 세립분 함유량 및 간극 내 얼음에 의해 사질토 입자들 이격거리 차이에 의한 것이라는 의견이 제시되었다. 제시된 두 가지 의견 중 사질토 입자들 이격거리의 확인을 위해 micro X-ray CT 촬영을 수행하였다. X-ray CT 촬영에 의한 비파괴 검사는 최근 지반공학 분야에서 진행되고 있는 다양한 융복합 연구 중 하나로 CT 촬영을 통하여 지반재료의 내부 구조를 마이크로미터 단위의 높은 해상도를 통해 평가할 수 있는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 -5, -10, -15℃의 동결온도에서 성형된 5, 10, 15%의 세립분을 포함하고 있는 동결 사질토 공시체에 대하여 micro X-ray CT 촬영을 수행하고 기존의 개발된 이미지 해석 기법을 적용하여 동결 사질토 내의 조립질 입자들의 최단거리 및 평균거리를 통하여 세립분 함유량 및 동결온도가 조립질 입자간의 거리에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. X-ray CT 촬영 결과, 동결온도 및 세립분 함유량은 동결 사질토 내 입자간 거리에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. The mechanical characteristics of frozen sand greatly depend on the frozen temperature and the fine contents according to the previous study by Chae et al. (2015). There are two hypotheses to explain this experimental results; one is the unfrozen water contents greatly affected by the fine contents and frozen temperature and the other is the sand particle spacing greatly affected by the pore-ice. To evaluate the latter hypothesis, the micro X-ray CT scan was performed. The micro X-ray CT scanning, one of the actively performed interdisciplinary research area, has a high resolution with micrometer unit allows to investigate internal structure of soils. In this study, X-ray CT technique was applied to investigate the effect of the frozen temperature and fine contents on the sand particle minimum and average spacing with the developed image processing techniques. Based on the spacing analysis, the frozen temperature and fine contents have little influence on the sand particle spacing in the frozen sand specimens.

        Mechanism for the change of Cytosolic Free Calcium Ion Concentration by Irradiation of Red Light in Oat Cells

        In our previous studies (Chae et al., 1990; Chae et ol., 1993), we found that a phytochrome signal was clearly connected with the change in cytosolic free Ca^(2+) concentrntion ([Ca^(2+)]_i) in oat cells. It was determined that the [Ca^(2+)]_i change occured both by mobilization out of the intracellular Ca^(2+) store and by influx from the medium. The specific aim of this work is to elucidate the processes connecting Ca^(2+) mobilization and influx. The cells treated with thapsigargin (increasing [Ca^(2+)]_i by inhibition of the Ca^(2+)-ATPase in the calcium pool) in the presence of external Ca^(2+) showed the same increasing pattern (sustained increasing shape) of [Ca^(2+)]_i as that measured in animal cells. Red light irradiation after thapsigargin treatment did not increase [Ca^(2+)]_i. These results suggest that thapsigargin also acts specifically in the processes of mobilization and influx of Ca^(2+) in oat cells. When the cells were treated with TEA (K^+ channel blocker), changes in [Ca^(2+)]_i were drastically reduced in comparison with that measured in the absence of TEA. The results suggest that the change in [Ca^(2+)]_i due to red light irradiation is somehow related with K^+ channel opening to change membrane potential. The membrane potential change due to K^+ influx might be the critical factor in opening a voltage-dependent calcium channel for Ca^(2+) influx.

        A regularity condition and temporal asymptotics for chemotaxis-fluid equations

        <P>We consider two dimensional chemotaxis equations coupled to the Navier–Stokes equations. We present a new localized regularity criterion that is localized in a neighborhood at each point. Secondly, we establish temporal decays of the regular solutions under the assumption that the initial mass of biological cell density is sufficiently small. Both results are improvements of previously known results given in Chae <I>et al</I> (2013 <I>Discrete Continuous Dyn. Syst</I>. A <B>33</B> 2271–97) and Chae <I>et al</I> (2014 <I>Commun.         서울 강남지역 채소류 경작지의 토양 중 잔류농약 실태조사

        본 연구는 강남일부(강남구, 강동구, 송파구)지역 시설재배지에서 시기별 잔류농약의 오염 실태를 파악히고자 하였다. 각 지역에서 2010년 4월부터 2011년 6월까지 토양시료 60 점을 채취하여 시료 중 농약 잔류량을 다성분 동시 스크리닝 분석법으로 분석하였다. 시설재배지 잔류농약 조사결과, endosulfan 0.002-0.999 ㎎/㎏ procymidone 0.002-1.200 ㎎/㎏, diazinon 0.003-0.024 ㎎/㎏, metalaxyl 0.012-0.075 ㎎/㎏로 검출되었다. 시설재배지 토양의 잔류농약 모니터링 결과 검출빈도가 높게 나타난 endosulfan을 대상으로 참나물, 상추에 대하여 흡수 이행 정도를 조사하였다. 강남구 지역의 토양에서 잔류농약을 검사한 결과 endosulfan이 0.445 ㎎/㎏로 잔류하였고, 이 토양에서 참나물을 60일 재배 후 잔류농약 검사를 실시한 결과 endosulfan 0.157 ㎎/㎏로 잔류하여 토양 대비 참나물 중 endosulfan 이행률은 35.3%를 보였다. 또한 강동구 지역의 토양에서 잔류농약을 검사한 결과 endosulfan이 0.358 ㎎/㎏로 잔류하였고, 이 토양에서 상추를 60일 재배 후 상추 중 잔류농약 검사를 실시한 결과 endosulfan 0.004 ㎎/㎏로 잔류하여 토양 대비 endosulfan 이행률은 1.1%를 보였다. Monitoring of pesticide residues were conducted at three sites in the Southern Area of Seoul, Korea (Gang-nam, Gang-dong and Song-pa). We measured pesticide residues within soil samples using multi-pesticide residues analysis. Samples were collected at the three sites with 60 sampling spots. The amount of pesticide residues in the soil samples were as follows [(minimum-maximum), ㎎/㎏] endosulfan 0.002-0.999, procymidone 0.002-1.200, diazinon 0.003-0.024, metalaxyl 0.012-0.075. In soil treated with 0.445 ㎎/㎏ of endosulfan, the pesticide absorbed by chamnamul, was 0.157 ㎎/㎏ (Absorption rate: 35.3%). However, in soil treated with 0.358 ㎎/㎏ of endosulfan, the pesticide absorbed by lettuce, was 0.004 ㎎/㎏ (Absorption rate : 1.1 %).

        Sin, Chae-Ho who wrote the novel and studied the Korean old history in the early 20th century had always paid attention to the problems of making strong national people through his writing and studying about Korean national history under the premise that the history of mankind is the struggle for 'I' against 'Non-I'. So, he took the Korean old historical heros and recreated them in his stories the characters who have modern and national spirit to fight against foreigners who had been eager to invade Korea and to fight against the native intelligentsia who had been in the pitfalls of imperialism and colonialism. He wanted to recover all the foreign ideologies produced from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Christianity, especially the modern ideologies prevailed in western society. But he did not make such characters to simple hero who were in a historical view of heroism asked by ruler class in a feudal society. Many characters of his stories lived in and with the people, and their acts and thoughts were practical also in such states. This process which restructured from old history to modern meaning resulted in the Mugunghwa(the rose of Sharon) thoughts, the breaking of class structure, the consciousness of anti-Japanese, the criticism of religion and rationalism and imperialism, and the revolution of violence. These concepts are the modern meanings presented in Sin's stories, and are the results of the Sin's excellent vision of world history.
