Nano-crystallized glass-ceramic of BaO-TiO2-SiO2 system containing ZrO2
Byeong-Guk Kang,SeungguKang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2020 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.21 No.S1
Fresnoite (Ba2TiSi2O8) materials, which exhibit piezoelectricity, ferroelectricity, and nonlinear optical properties, can be usedas core materials for optical communication and optical information processing devices. In this study, glass-ceramics withnanometer size fresnoite crystal phase were prepared from BaO-TiO2-SiO2 (BTS) glass containing ZrO2 as a nucleating agentand their microstructure, crystallization behavior, and photoluminescence properties were analyzed. The heat treatmentprocess for glass-ceramics was designed based on data obtained by non-isothermal analysis using differential thermal analysis(DTA). The crystal morphology and microstructure of the prepared specimens were analyzed by X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD), optical microscopy (OM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), respectively. The luminescenceproperties of the specimens were analyzed by photoluminescence (PL) measurements. When the BTS glass with 15 wt% ZrO2(15Z)was heat treated at 1,015 oC, a dendritic structure by gathering very small spherical crystalline phases of 10-30 nm wasformed. In addition, when the 15Z was excited by light of 309 nm wavelength, strong light of 469 nm wavelength was emitted, and this light appeared to be blue light close to white in the Commission International de l'Eclairage (CIE) diagram.

A new synthetic strategy for preparation of a wide range of 6-amino-2,4,5-trimethylpyridin-3-ols from pyridoxine·HCl via a six-step sequence has been developed. This approach features an introduction of various amino groups to C(6)-position of 3-benzyloxy-6-bromo-2,4,5-trimethylpyridine (13), a key intermediate, by a Buchwald-Hartwig amination reaction using palladium(0) transition metal, which certainly renders an expanded scope of amino substituents. Some analogs prepared using the methods described here showed high level of antiangiogenic and antitumor activities in chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay, demonstrating the potential of these new aminopyridinols as antiangiogenic agents.ⓒ2014 Elsevier Masson SAS.
Abstract

Objectives

This study sought to investigate the long-term clinical effects of stent generation and stent strategy for left main coronary artery (LMCA) bifurcation lesion treatment.

Background

Limited data are available to assess long-term clinical outcomes after stenting, including use of current-generation drug-eluting stent (C-DES) for treatment of LMCA bifurcation lesions.

Methods

A total of 1,353 patients who were recorded in 2 multicenter real-world registries were treated by either early-generation drug-eluting stent (E-DES) (n = 889) or C-DES (n = 464). Primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). MACE was defined as a composite of cardiac death or myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis, and target lesion revascularization rates during 3-year follow-up. The authors further performed propensity-score adjustment for clinical outcomes.

Results

During 3-year follow-up, the overall MACE rate was 8.7%. Use of a 1-stent strategy resulted in better clinical outcomes than use of a 2-stent strategy (4.7% vs. 18.6%, hazard ratio [HR]: 3.71; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.55 to 5.39; p < 0.001). Use of C-DES resulted in a lower MACE rate compared with using E-DES (4.6% vs. 10.9%, HR: 0.55; 95% CI: 0.34 to 0.89; p = 0.014), especially for the 2-stent strategy. For patients with C-DES, the presence of chronic kidney disease and pre-intervention side branch diameter stenosis ≥50% were significant independent predictors of MACE.

Conclusions

Intervention of LMCA bifurcation lesions using DES implantation demonstrated acceptable long-term clinical outcomes, especially in C-DES patients. Use of a 1-stent strategy resulted in better clinical benefits than using a 2-stent strategy.
