        Expression and function analysis of a rice OsHSP40 gene under salt stress

        Heat shock proteins (HSPs) play essential roles in both plant growth and abiotic stress tolerance. In rice, OsHSP40 was recently reported to regulate programmed cell death (PCD) of suspension cells under high temperature. However, the expression and functions of OsHSP40 under normal growth or other abiotic stress conditions is still unknown. We reported the expression and function of a rice OsHSP40 gene under salt stress. Homologous proteins of OsHSP40 were collected from the NCBI database and constructed the neighbor-joining (NJ) phylogenetic tree. The expression pattern of OsHSP40 was detected by qRT-PCR under NaCl (150 mM) treatment. Then, identified a rice T-DNA insertion mutant oshsp40. At last, we compared and analyzed the phenotypes of oshsp40 and wild type under salt stress. OsHSP40 was a constitutively expressed small HSP (sHSP) gene and was close related to other plant sHSPs. Moreover, the expression of OsHSP40 was regulated by salt, varying across time points and tissues. Furthermore, the growth of T-DNA insertion mutant of OsHSP40 (designated as oshsp40) was suppressed by NaCl (150 mM) compared with that of the WT at seedling stage. Detailed measurement showed root and shoot length of the oshsp40 seedlings were significantly shorter than those of the WT seedlings under NaCl stress. In addition, the pot experiment results revealed that seedlings of oshsp40 withered more seriously compared with those of WT after NaCl treatment and recovery, and that survival rate and fresh weight of oshsp40 seedlings were significantly reduced. Taken together, these data suggested that OsHSP40 had multiple functions in rice normal growth and abiotic stress tolerance.

        At present, the competition of China’s MBA education is becoming more and more intense. Strengthening the image-building of MBA education, importing CIS strategy into MBA education, improving the core competitiveness of MBA education, and building the brand of MBA education, should become an important strategic choice to the development of MBA education. From referencing the connotation of enterprise CIS, this paper describes the significance and procedures to import the CIS strategy into MBA education, proposes some proposals about establishing and implementing MBAIS strategy, and puts forward the specific case that Northeastern University imports MBAIS into MBA education.

      • An Estimation Method of Consolidation and Settlement of Soil Mass in Dredger Fill Area Based on SBAS-InSAR

        The land subsidence poses a nonnegligible threat to production and life, especially in dredger fill area. The essence of land subsidence is soil consolidation. Better evaluation of the degree of soil consolidation presents significant progress for predicting land subsidence. In this study, SBAS-InSAR was conducted to Chenjia town, the typical dredger fill area in Chongming East Shoal, Shanghai. SAR data and precise Orbit data were collected from the ESA satellite Sentinel-1 in recent 2 years with approximately one month intervals. the relationship curve of cumulative subsidence with time is obtained after processing. On this basis, the final settlement and soil consolidation can be estimated by applying the method proposed by Professor Huang Wenxi of China. The results show that: The subsidence rate is faster than 20 mm/a; The estimated final settlement is 26.6-52.9 mm, and the corresponding consolidation degree is 54.6 % on average; Soil mass has not yet been fully consolidated and it still takes a long time to achieve stability. In conclusion, the method proposed in this study can provide a clearer understanding of the consolidation degree, and a new reference for the evaluation and prevention of land subsidence. Future research will focus on longer monitoring time to enrich and improve the method.         Prevalence of Spina Bifida Occulta and Its Relationship With Overactive Bladder in Middle-Aged and Elderly Chinese People

        Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of spina bifida occulta (SBO) and its relationship with the presence of overactive bladder (OAB) in middle-aged and elderly people in China. Methods: A cross-sectional community-based survey was carried out at 7 communities in Zhengzhou City, China from December 15, 2013 to June 10, 2014, where residents aged over 40 years were randomly selected to participate. All of the participants underwent lumbosacral radiographic analysis and relevant laboratory tests. A questionnaire including basic information, past medical history and present illness, and the OAB symptom score was filled out by all participants. Chi-square tests and logistic regression were used for data analysis with a P-value of <0.05 denoting statistical significance. Results: A total of 1,061 subjects were qualified for the final statistical analysis (58.8±11.7 years; male, 471 [44.4%]; female, 590 [55.6%]). The overall prevalence of SBO was 15.1% (160 of 1,061): 18.3% (86 of 471) in men and 12.5% (74 of 590) in women. Among these subjects, 13.7% (145 of 1,061) had OAB: 13.2% (62 of 471) in men and 14.1% (83 of 590) in women. The results of logistic regression showed that age, SBO, history of cerebral infarction (HCI), and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while sex, history of childhood enuresis (HCE), body mass index (BMI), and diabetes mellitus (DM) were not (P>0.05). In men, age, SBO, and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, HCI, and benign prostate hyperplasia were not (P>0.05). In women, age, SBO, and HCI were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, vaginal delivery, and constipation were not (P>0.05). Conclusions: The prevalence of SBO is high and it is related to OAB in middle-aged and elderly people in China.

        Triterpenoid Saponins from the Seeds of Caragana microphylla

        Two new triterpenoid saponins, namely caraganoside C (1) and caraganoside D (2), were isolated from the seeds of Caragana microphylla. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including homo- and hetero-nuclear correlation NMR experiments (COSY, HSQC and HMBC). Both 1 and 2 exhibited moderate inhibitory activity against NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells with IC_50 values of 26.4 μM and 32.2 μM, respectively. In addition, 1 showed weak cytotoxicity against MCF-7, HL-60, HCT116, and A549 cell lines.

        Up-Regulation of MiR-1915 Inhibits Proliferation, Invasion, and Migration of Helicobacter pylori-Infected Gastric Cancer Cells via Targeting RAGE

        Purpose: Helicobacter pylori (HP)-infected gastric cancer (GC) is known to be a fatal malignant tumor, but the molecular mechanismsunderlying its proliferation, invasion, and migration remain far from being completely understood. Our aim in this studywas to explore miR-1915 expression and its molecular mechanisms in regulating proliferation, invasion, and migration of HP-infectedGC cells. Materials and Methods: Quantitative real-time PCR and western blot analysis were performed to determine miR-1915 and receptorfor advanced glycation end product (RAGE) expression in HP-infected GC tissues and gastritis tissues, as well as humangastric mucosal cell line GES-1 and human GC cell lines SGC-7901 and MKN45. CCK8 assay and transwell assay were performedto detect the proliferation, invasion, and migration capabilities. MiR-1915 mimics and miR-1915 inhibitor were transfected intoGC cells to determine the target relationship between miR-1915 and RAGE. Results: MiR-1915 was under-expressed, while RAGE was over-expressed in HP-infected GC tissues and GC cells. Over-expressedmiR-1915 could attenuate cellular proliferation, invasion, and migration capacities. RAGE was confirmed to be the target gene ofmiR-1915 by bioinformatics analysis and luciferase reporter assay. Moreover, HP-infected GC cellular proliferation, invasion, andmigration were inhibited after treatment with pcDNA-RAGE. Conclusion: MiR-1915 exerted tumor-suppressive effects on cellular proliferation, invasion, and migration of HP-infected GCcells via targeting RAGE, which provided an innovative target candidate for treatment of HP-infected GC.

        The complete mitochondrial genome of fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)

        The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) can provide important information for understanding molecular evolution and phylogenetic analyses. The complete mitogenome of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae) was determined to be 15,365 bp in length and has the typical gene order found in Noctuidae mitogenomes, it includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a A?T-rich region. The nucleotide composition was biased toward A?T nucleotides (81.09 %) and the AT skew of this mitogenome was slightly positive (0.004). All PCGs were initiated by ATN codons, except for cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene which was initiated by CGA. Eight of the 13 PCGs have the incomplete termination codon, T or TA. All the tRNA genes displayed the typical clover-leaf structure of mitochondrial tRNAs, with the exception of trnS1 (AGN). The A?T-rich region was 328 bp in length and consisted of several features common to the Noctuidae insects. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the S. frugiperda was within the Noctuidae.

        Distributed Containment Control of Multi-agent Systems with General Linear Dynamics and Time-delays

        Containment control problems for high-order linear time-invariant multi-agent systems with fixed communication time-delays are investigated. Based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method and the linear matrix inequality (LMI) method, sufcient conditions on the communication digraph, the feedback gains, and the allowed upper bound of the delays to ensure containment control of the multi-agent systems under the different containment control algorithms are given. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate theoretical results.

        Containment Control for Directed Networks Multi-agent System with Nonlinear Dynamics and Communication Time-delays

        In this paper, containment control problem in directed networks for second-order multi-agent systemswith inherent nonlinear dynamics and time-delays are investigated. A distributed control protocol is proposedfor each follower using the relative states among neighboring agents. Based on Lyapunov-Razumikhin theorem,some sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived to ensure that all followersasymptotically converge to the convex hull spanned by the dynamic leaders. Finally, simulation results are presentedto illustrate the effectiveness of the conclusion.

      • Light Load Efficiency Improvement Method for GaN-Based DAB Converter with Hybrid Discontinuous Current Mode

        Conventional phase-shift controlled dual active bridge (DAB) converters which operate in discontinuous current mode (DCM) are hard to realize the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) due to the light load. This paper proposed an efficiency improvement method for the DAB converter with fix-frequency hybrid discontinue current mode (HDCM). By adopting the HDCM control method, synchronous rectification and wide load range ZVS of switching devices are realized simultaneously without changing the components of the conventional DAB power stage in DCM. Besides, to further improve the conversion ratio and efficiency, the voltage-doubled rectification (VDR) is adopted. The HDCM implementation method with a digital signal processor (DSP) is proposed. A 200W laboratory prototype is designed to validate the correctness of HDCM. Compared to the conventional DAB converter which operates in DCM, experimental results demonstrate that the efficiency was increased 1.2% at 10% rated load.
