Experimental, modeling and RSM optimization of CO2 loading for an aqueous blend of diethylenetriamine and 3-dimethyl amino-1-propanol

Akhil Kumar Gupta,Ashish Gautam,Monoj Kumar Mondal 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.5

Post-combustion CO2 capture by aqueous amine solvent is one of the most promising methods for mitigating the presence of CO2 in the environment. In this work, a novel amine blend of Diethylenetriamine and 3-Dimethyl amino-1-propanol was selected. Experiments were performed in the temperature range of 293.15–323.25 K, mole fraction of diethylenetriamine in the range of 0.05–0.2, partial pressure of CO2 in the range of 10.13–25.33 kPa and solution concentration in the range of 1–3 mol·L−1. Effects of these parameters on equilibrium CO2 loading were judged at various operating conditions. An empirical model was developed for the calculation of equilibrium CO2 loading in the aqueous amine blend. The heat of absorption of CO2 for this amine blend was found to be −65.22 kJ·mol−1. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used for optimization and a quadratic model was selected. The analysis of variance was used to prove the significance of the selected model. Three-dimensional diagrams and contour plots of independent variables were also shown. Optimum CO2 loading by RSM was found to be 1.068 mol CO2·mol amine−1 at temperature 294.15 K, mole fraction of diethylenetriamine 0.20, solution concentration 1.3 mol/l, and partial pressure of CO2 24.22 kPa.

      • Ecological context of infant mortality in high-focus states of India

Laishram Ladusingh,Ashish Kumar Gupta,Awdhesh Yadav 한국역학회 2016 Epidemiology and Health Vol.38 No.-

OBJECTIVES: This goal of this study was to shed light on the ecological context as a potential determinant of the infant mortality rate in nine high-focus states in India. METHODS: Data from the Annual Health Survey (2010-2011), the Census of India (2011), and the District Level Household and Facility Survey 3 (2007-08) were used in this study. In multiple regression analysis explanatory variable such as underdevelopment is measured by the non-working population, and income inequality, quantified as the proportion of households in the bottom wealth quintile. While, the trickle-down effect of education is measured by female literacy, and investment in health, as reflected by neonatal care facilities in primary health centres. RESULTS: A high spatial autocorrelation of district infant mortality rates was observed, and ecological factors were found to have a significant impact on district infant mortality rates. The result also revealed that non-working population and income inequality were found to have a negative effect on the district infant mortality rate. Additionally, female literacy and new-born care facilities were found to have an inverse association with the infant mortality rate. CONCLUSIONS: Interventions at the community level can reduce district infant mortality rates.

      • Successful Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C Infection with Directly Acting Antivirals in Renal Transplant Recipients

        ( Sunil Taneja ),( Ajay Duseja ),( Arka De ),( Vivek Kumar ),( Raja Ramachandran ),( Ashish Sharma ),( Radha K Dhiman ),( Krishan L Gupta ),( Yogesh Chawla ) 대한간학회 2017 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2017 No.1

Background and Aims: The data regarding the treatment of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) in renal transplant recipients is lacking from the Asia-Pacific region. Aim of the present study was to assess the safety and efficacy of directly acting antivirals (DAAs) in the treatment of CHC infection in renal transplant recipients. Methods: A total of 47 HCV infected renal transplant recipients were enrolled in this real life observational cohort analysis between March 2015 and September 2016. Presence of hepatic fibrosis/cirrhosis was assessed on transient elastography (Fibroscan). Fourteen patients were treated with Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin for 24 weeks. Twenty-two patients received Sofosbuvir and Ledipasvir and twelve patients received Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir with (n=3) or without (n=31) Ribavirin for 12 or 24 weeks depending on genotype and underlying cirrhosis. Data was analyzed for safety and treatment efficacy [sustained virological response at 12 weeks (SVR12)]. Results: The mean baseline HCV RNA concentration in the whole group was 7.38 x 106 IU/ml (1.23 x 104- 6.36 X 107). The SVR12 rates were 100% in all groups except in the Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin group (86%). Transient Elastography revealed minimal or no fibrosis (F0-F1) in 31 (65.96%) patients, moderate fibrosis (F2) in 11 (23.4%) patients and cirrhosis in 5 (10.64%) patients. The only serious adverse effect was anemia observed in 8 (57%) patients in the Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin group. Conclusions: DAAs including Sofosbuvir, Daclatasvir and Ledipasvir with or without ribavirin are safe and effective for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in renal transplant recipients

Bipartite clavicular attachment of the sternocleidomastoid muscle: a case report

        Vandana Mehta,Jyoti Arora,Ashwani Kumar,Ashish Kumar Nayar,Hitendra Kumar Ioh,Vanita Gupta,Rajesh Kuamr Suri,Gayatri Rath 대한해부학회 2012 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.45 No.1

Morphological variations of the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle assume relevance during attempted surgical interventions in the cervical region. The present study reports bipartite clavicular attachment of the SCM in the neck of an adult male cadaver during performance of a routine anatomy demonstration. The anomaly was unilaterally observed on the left side of the neck. The clavicular head of the muscle exhibited two bellies, one medial and one lateral. While the medial belly was fused with the sternal head, the lateral belly appeared to blend with the medial. Cranially, the SCM attached to the mastoid process and superior nuchal line. We have attempted to elucidate the embryological basis of the above muscular variant. Additionally, we discuss its clinical relevance, highlighting the utility of the SCM in various reconstructive procedures. We assert that detailed anatomical knowledge of such SCM variants is of utility not only to the gross anatomist, but also for neck and orthopaedic surgeons and anaesthetists. Moreover, radiologists require familiarity with such aberrations to decipher magnetic resonance imaging scans of the cervical region.

Molecular characterization and estimation of cellulolytic potential of gut bacteria isolated from four white grub species native to Indian Himalayas

        Danu Nutan,Paschapur Amit,Subbanna ARNS,Stanley Johnson,Kumar Singh Ashish,Bisht Ila,Prakash Gupta Jai 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.1

An investigation was carried out to isolate, identify and molecularly characterize the cellulose-degrading bac terial isolates from the guts of four white grub species (Anomala bengalensis, Brahmina coriacea, Holotrichia longipennis and Holotrichia setticollis) native to Uttarakhand, Himalayas through 16S rRNA sequencing. A total of 178 bacterial strains were isolated from different gut compartments of selected white grub species, of which 95 bacterial isolates showed cellulose metabolizing activities in the CMC assay. Maximum degraders i.e., 38 were isolated from A. bengalensis, of which 18 were isolated from the fermentation chamber. The value of cellulolytic index ranged between 0.05 and 16 showing a variable cellulolytic activity by degraders. A total of 25 potent strains of cellulose-degrading bacteria recording cellulolytic activity > 1 were isolated and sequenced for 16S rRNA gene. Bacillus stratosphericus strain CBG4MG1 (10.78 ± 4.18), Bacillus cereus strain CBG2FC1 (10.33 ± 3.53), Bacillus sp. strain CBG3MG2 (7.28 ± 0.16) and Paenibacillus ginsengagri strain CBG1FC2 (5.66 ± 2.67) were the most potent cellulose-degrading bacteria isolated from the gut of B. coriacea, H. longipennis, H. setticollis and A. bengalensis, respectively. Thus, the cellulolytic bacteria isolated from the gut of selected white grub species may be good sources for profiling novel isolates for industrial use besides identifying eco-friendly solutions for agro-waste management.
