Vol.5 No.-
Kontusz was the traditional dress of Poland in the 17th and 18th centuries which had been influenced by Turkey. Persia, India and remote China , The origin of the word ''kontusz'' comes from the Hungarian word. Kontos". which refers to men’s overcoats worn over long gowns. Kontusz was not everyday clothing but. instead. fancy dress garments worn by the nobility at balls and parties Due to its geographical location. Poland was continuouslY invaded and interfered with by surrounding countries. Despite this. it has succeeded in creating and keeping its own unique clothing style in a dual structure by combining the Polish traditional sense and diverse culture with foreign elements from the East and West. Oriental folk clothes from Turkey. Persia. India and China were exquisitely assimilated with Polish tradition along with Western history to firmly plant its roots as a cultural symbol in Poland today. Much important evidence of this assimilation can be discovered from a close examination of the Polish kontusz traditional clothing. Although kontusz was originally inspired by Asian culture. after 200 years of assimilation. it has become a traditional “national clothing exclusively representing Poland. After Poland was partitioned by the three nations of Russia. Prussia and Austria. the spirit of kontusz fought against these foreign nations. Because of this , kontusz eventuallY became widely recognized as an important Polish symbol of national independence. In this paper, various oriental motifs which appear on the material dealing with design , color, pattern and accessories of the kontusz are investigated. In the shadow of the current conflict between Christianity and Islam. the ultimate goal of this paper is to think seriously about reaching world peace in the 21st century by emphasizing the aesthetic sense that commonly exists in both Western and Eastern clothing. The assimilation of kontusz into Polish culture can be studied for important clues which may prove that there is a common thread running through the East and West involving the senses of beauty and good taste.

Reconstruction of the fascia defect, especially complicated one is challenging problem. We report our experiences of porcine acellular dermal collagen (Permacol®) in contaminated fascia defects. Three patients with contaminated fascia defect were reconstructed using Permacol®. Permacol® was fixed to fascia with 2-0 polypropylene sutures and at least 2 cm of the implant was allowed to overlap the defect. Types of fascia defect consisted of large parastomal hernia in rectal cancer patients, multiple enterocutaneous fistulas in Crohn’s disease and evisceration due to surgical site infection. Postoperative complication was 1 case of graft infection in a Crohn’s disease patient, but infection was controlled using antibiotics.

Travels with Herodotus published in 2006 was the last reportage of Ryszard Kapuscinski (1932-2007) a representative journalist of the twentieth century. This is an hommage to the life of Herodotus and his work History but is also an autobiographical story of Kapuscinski. By figuring out the motif of wandering in Travels with Herodotus, this article analyzed how the experiences of ‘wandering’ and ‘travel’ of Kapuscinski, who wandered all his life, influenced on his writings. And by examining the problem of ‘perspective,’ which frequently appeared in his works, it aimed to examine the meaning of ‘others’ to the protagonist who wandered in a strange space, and to investigate how the process of being exposed to the others` perspective and exchanging perspective influenced on Kapuscinski`s philosophy on journalism. Kapuscinski argued that ‘travel’ is a challenge and adventure to journalists as well as difficult task and ambitious project. The reason for the importance of travel to them is that they could have an opportunity to meet with ‘Others (Inny)’. To accept ‘difference’ of the Other, to make the ‘difference’ as a mirror to reflect one`s true self, to recognize multi-culture and to work hard to make a peaceful world: Those are the essence and belief of the philosophy on journalism that Kapuscinski, "the 20th century Herodotus", had.

Many ballet movements exceed the normal range of motion of the joint of the lower extrmeties, and hip joint of Ballet dancers were changed to adapt to these special motion of ballet. The goal of this study was to investigate the characteristics of hip joint of ballet dancer. Various variables were measured in 16 female college students majoring in ballet (group A) and 8 female college students who had not participated in ballet at all (group B). The result of this study was as follows : 1) There was no significant difference between two groups in the range of internal rotation of hip joint in flexion (43.13±2.73° in group A and 42.50±.438° in group B). 2) There was significant difference between two groups in the range of external rotation of hip joint in flexion (73.94±6.57° in group A and 60.00±7.50° in group B). 3) There was significant difference between two groups in the range of external rotation of hip joint in extension. (29.63±2.97° in group A and 16.88±3.63° in group B). 4) There was significant difference between two groups in the angle of femur neck anteversion. (6.94±4.06° in group A and 23.13±4.84° in group B). Finally hip joint of Ballet dancers were changed to adapt to the special motion of ballet and possibility of injury of lower extremities and spine can be reduced.
