Effects of Interactional Corrective Feedback on Learners' Noticing of Target Forms in L2

This study investigated the effects of feedback on noticing and L2 development of two target forms: past tense and plural forms. Twenty eight low intermediate learners enrolled in EFL classes at two universities in Korea were participated in the study and they were assigned to three experimental groups (metalinguistic feedback, recast, and prompt) and a control group. A language learning journal and a stimulated recall interview were used to collect noticing data. It was found that the prompt group performed significantly better than the recast group and the control group in noticing past tense and plural forms. In addition, a grammaticality judgment test and a picture description task were used to investigate L2 development. Analysis of the GJT showed that the metalinguistic group and the prompt group differed significantly from the control group, while the recast group did not. It was also found that noticing was significantly correlated to L2 development. The findings indicate that prompts and metalinguistic feedback contribute more to noticing and development of the target forms than recasts.
중등 영어과 임용시험의 유용도 분석: 2014~2015학년도를 중심으로

This paper aims to investigate the usefulness of the National Qualifying Exams for English teacher candidates of secondary schools. Thirty-eight items from 2014 to 2005 are analyzed in terms of test usefulness based on the theory of Bachman and Palmer (1996). Among six qualities of test usefulness, especially the three qualities of construct validity, authenticity and interactiveness are used for this study. This paper also examines forty-two secondary school teachers perspectives of the test. Additionally, it examines the tests of China and Japan for 2014 for comparison with the Korean test. According to the results of the study, ways to improve the current test are suggested.

이 연구는 여성고용의 양과 질을 악화시키는 기업 내부의 기제를 탐구하기 위한 한 시도로, 특히 인사담당자가 평가하는 여성의 ‘생산성’과 관련하여 기업 차원에서 작동하는 여성고용저하요인에 대한 심층 분석을 실시하고자 한다. 고용에서의 성 차별을 금지하는 제도적 정비와 여성인력의 활성화를 위한 정책적 대안의 마련에도 불구하고, 아직 기업 내부에는 여성의 생산성에 대한 왜곡된 평가가 존재하고 있다. 이러한 인식에 영향을 미치는 조직적 요인들을 탐구한 결과, 여성의 생산성에 대한 평가는 기업규모가 작을수록, 여성고용비율이 낮을수록 낮게 나타난 한편, 여성직원에 대한 경영진의 태도가 성 평등적일수록 여성의 생산성을 더 높게 평가하는 것으로 드러났다. 차별적일수록 낮게 나타났음을 발견하였다. 이러한 차별적 판단의 근거에서 가장 중요한 요인으로 드러난 것은 여성의 업무몰입도 및 네트워크 능력에 대한 인사담당자들의 낮은 평가였다. 그러나 보완적인 심층면접조사를 통해 여성의 생산성에 대한 낮은 평가가 객관적 기준을 근거로 한 영역에서보다는 개인의 주관적 판단과 차별적 고정관념에 의해 크게 영향 받을 수 있는 영역에서 이루어지고 있다는 것임을 알 수 있었다. 이는 조직이 다수의 남성들, 그리고 남성 중심적 문화에 의해 주도될 때, 소수집단인 여성들에게는 실질적인 업무 성과를 낮추거나 또는 같은 업무 성과에도 불구하고 그것을 충분히 인정받지 못하게 하는 결과를 발생시킬 가능성이 크다는 점을 보여준다. This study investigates internal mechanisms that continuously limit the women's entry and upward mobility in corporate organizations, focusing on gender bias in performance appraisal. The data came from a survey of 304 personnel managers, two focus group meetings involving 16 male and female employees, and finally, in depth interviews with 7 personnel managers. Despite major legislative efforts to bring about gender equality at the workplace, there were persistent gender bias in personnel managers' evaluations of performance of women. Bias was more likely to happen in smaller firms with lower women's employment, and those corporate organizations where management possessed discriminatory attitudes toward female employees. In order to investigate the domains of such sex bias, this study identified three areas of performance evaluation, that is, commitment and networks, intellectual capacity, and teamwork and managerial skills. It turned out that personnel managers were most critical of female employees’ lack of commitment and networks, which again made them evaluate female employees less favorably than their male counterparts. The results point to the fact that important personnel decisions are based on the area of evaluation that can be easily affected by biased cognitive processing of information about the productivity of female employees. When corporate organizations are under the influence of male-dominated culture, sex bias in performance evaluations cannot be easily reduced.
다공성 에어로젤 기반 무동력 마이크로펌프 및 그 응용에 대한 연구

The technology aimed at understanding fluid dynamics on a micro-scale and implementing this into ultra-small machines is actively applied to various fields such as medical science, environmental preservation, and energy innovation. Particularly, transporting fluids without the need for external mechanical or electrical power sources is garnering attention. Here, powerless micropump is fabricated utilizing an aerogel with a comprehensive investigation on the morphological and physical characteristics of aerogels at various concentrations, regarding their fluid transport ability. The fluid transport capacity is systematically controlled by introducing various types of flow resistors installed within the micropump. To demonstrate practicality, the micropump is applied to the reverse electrodialysis (RED) system, where the continuous transport of electrolytes holds particular significance. This research on the powerless fluid transport of aerogel would be actively used to generate optimal flow conditions in microfluidic systems in various fields in the future.
