        Shih-tzu견에서 분만 후 자궁수복의 연속적 초음파상

        This study was undertaken to determine the normal serial ultrasonographic appearance of the postpartum uterine involution. Postpartum changes in uterine shape, architecture, echogenicity and diameter were monitored by ultrasonography in 10 Shih-tzu bitches. Serial ultrasonographic examination was done daily during the first week, 3 days interval from 8 to 30 days, and weekly from 31 to 100 days postpartum. All 10 postpartum bitches had normal involution by gross finding, vaginal discharges, and by ultrasonographic findings, uterine shape and echogenicity. The uterine diameter in the placental sites was decreased from 23.56±1.45mm at 1 day to 14.08±1.55mm at 7 day, and in the interplacental sites was decreased from 14.64±1.28mm at 1day to 9.61±1.46mm at 7 day postpartum. At 65 days postpartum the uterine diameter was 5-6mm both placental and interplacental sites, and the uterine horns were uniform hypoechic, tubular structures without enlargement. Therefore, complete involution of the uterus occured 65 days. It was concluded that normal postpartum uterine involution in Shih-tzu bitches appeared to be completed 65 days postpartum by gross findings such as vaginal discharges, and ultrasonographic findings. And ultrasonographic characteristics of the postpartum uterine involution were described. Therefore, these result suggest that ultrasonographic assessment is a reliable method for diagnosing the subinvolution of placental sites and uterine dysfunction, such as pyometra in the bitch.

        Serial ultrasonographic examinations were daily performed on 12 Shih-tzu bitches from 15 days after ovulation until parturition to determine the time of first detection and ultrasonographic appearance of the fetal and extra-fetal structures and to determine the size of gestational structures. Gestational age was timed from the day of ovulation (day 0), which was estimated to occur when plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0 ng/ml. The gestational length in 12 Shih-tzu bitches was 62.1 (range:60-64) days. The initial detection of the fetal and extra-fetal structures were: gestational sac at days 19.2 (16-21); zonary placenta in the uterine wall at days 25.9 (24-28); yolk sac membrane at days 24.1 (22-26); amniotic membrane at days 26.6 (24-28); embryo initial detection at days 22.3 (21- 24); heartbeat at days 23.8 (23-25); limb buds at days 29.3 (27-31); fetal movement at days 32.3 (31-34); stomach at days 32.6 (29-34); urinary bladder at days 33.1 (29-35); skeleton at days 35.9 (34-38) and kidney at days 45.8 (45-48).

        Shih-tzu견에서 임신일령에 따른 임신구조물의 초음파상 II. 태아 및 태아외구조물의 측정에 의한 임신일려의 추정

        Serial ultrasonographic examination was daily performed on 12 pregnant Shih-tzu bitches from day 15 until parturition to determine the size of gestational structures. Gestational age was timed from the day of ovulation (day 0), which was estimated to occur when plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0 ng/ml. Extrafetal structures were measurable from days 17 to 46. Outer uterine diameter increased from 9.90.4 mm (MeanSD) at day 20 to 44.30.8 mm at day 46 and inner chorionic cavity diameter increased from 7.20.2 mm at day 17 to 36.91.5 mm at day 41. Length of chorionic cavity or zonary placenta increased from 6.60.4 mm at day 21 to 46.4 0.9 mm at day 44. Of the extra-fetal structures, inner chorionic cavity diameter was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age until day 38. Fetal structures were measurable from days 23 to 60. Crown-rump length increased from 3.90.3 mm at day 23 to 55.23.3 mm at day 41, fetal body diameter increased from 7.90.6 mm at day 32 to 47.82 mm at day 60, and fetal head diameter increased from 6.31.1 mm at day 29 to 25.60.2 mm at day 60. Of the fetal structures, fetal head diameter was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age from day 38 until day 60.

        Cocker Spaniel 개에서 분만 후 자궁수복의 연속적 초음파상

        정상적으로 자연 분만한 Cocker spaniel 개 8두를 대상으로 분만 후 자궁의 수복상태를 관찰하기 위하여 육안적 질 분비물의 배출 및 초음파 진단장치를 이용하여 자궁의 형태, 에코 정도 및 크기의 변화상 등을 검사한 바 8두 모두 자궁의 수복이 정상이었다. 분만 후 자궁의 형태는 초음파 종단면에서 착상부가 비착상부에 비해 종대되어 나타나는 염주상을 보였으나 분만 후 25.602.51일 이후에는 착상부와 비착상부가 유사한 크기인 관상으로 관찰되었다 This study was undertaken to determine the normal appearance of the postpartum uterine involution. Postpartum changes in uterine shape, architecture, echogenicity and diameter were monitored with ultrasonography in 8 Cocker spaniel bitches. The excretory period of vaginal discharges in 8 normal bitches of uterine involution was finished completely at 23.202.77 days (MeanSD) postpartum. The short axis shape of the uterus was varied from polygonal to circular. This lasted until 16002.12 days Postpartum, during which time the short axis uterine shape gradually changed to circular. Also, the long axis shape of the uterus was created a beaded appearance of the horns until 25.602.51 days postpartum. The uterine diameter was decreased not only in the placental sites from 24.202.06mm at 1 day to 13.180.84mm at 7 days postpartum, but also in the interplacental sites 14.262.22mm at 1 day, 9.810.7mm at 7 days postpartum. There was a general trend of decreasing uterine diameter, which occurred more rapidly at the placental sites. In conclusion, normal postpartum uterine involution in Cocker spainel bitches appeared to be completed around 68 days postpartum by gross findings such as vaginal discharges, and by ultrasongraphic findings, uterine shape and echogenicity.

        Shih-tzu견에서 초음파 검사에 의한 분만일 예시표 확립

        To establish a prediction table of parturition day real-time B-mode ultrasonographic examinations were performed in 12 pregnant Shih-tzu bitches. Measurement of inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter was performed from 15 days of gestation to parturition. These were converted retrospectively based on the day of parturition (Day 0). The data of inner chorionic cavity diameter obtained from Day -44 to Day -25 and fetal head diameter obtained from Day -25 to Day -1 were used to compile a prediction table of parturition day. The 22 pregnant Shih-tzu with unknown mating time were examined to assess an accuracy of the table established in this study. And these results were applied to the prediction of parturition day and compared to actual parturition day. Parturition day prediction based on the inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter was 100% accurate within ${\pm}2$ days. In addition, the accuracy for parturition day within 0, ${\pm}1$, and ${\pm}2$ days interval using the prediction table of parturition day were 68, 82, and 100%, respectively. Therefore, the prediction table of parturition day seems to be a useful tool for the prediction of parturition day in practice.
