Enhanced Biometrics-based Remote User Authentication Scheme Using Smart Cards
전일수,김현성,김명식 보안공학연구지원센터 2011 보안공학연구논문지 Vol.8 No.2
Secure and efficient authentication scheme has been a very important issue with the development of networking technologies. Li and Hwang proposed an efficient biometrics-based remote user authentication scheme using smart cards. However, recently, Li et al. pointed out that their scheme is vulnerable to the man-in-the-middle attack, and does not provide proper authentications, and Li et al. proposed an improved biometrics-based authentication scheme. These schemes are vulnerable to various attacks even if the schemes are based on tamper-resistant technologies. Tamper-resistant technologies have been developed with the various applications of smart cards. Therefore, we will assume that the user could use the tamper-resistant smart card in this paper. First of all, this paper shows that Li et al.’s scheme is vulnerable to the replay attack and has a weakness to the password changing scheme even if it is assumed that the scheme could use the tamper-resistant smart cards. Furthermore, we propose an enhanced authentication scheme to solve the security flaws in the two schemes.

Ninety percent of an average Chinese manufacturer's time spent is on logistics. Therefore, logistics presents the greatest challenge for multinational companies conducting businesses in China. Although more than 18,000 registered logistics companies exist in China, 85 percent of their revenues are generated from basic trucking and storage services. These facts indicate that China will need increasing presence of high-quality foreign 3PL providers, who are able to provide sophisticated IT systems, industry/operational expertise, standardized operating processes, and international networks, compared to their Chinese counterparts. However, they are facing complicated array of laws and regulations as well as difficulty of finding qualified people to fulfill these needs. There are a number of foreign 3PL providers engaged in China's logistics sector to reap a huge opportunity. Nevertheless, many 3PL foreign providers are still cautious about making large investments. Thus they arelooking for alliances that can provide complementarities instead. Another salient feature of strategy is to take over the transportation assets and warehousing of major Chinese manufacturers and distributors.

The development of Pyongtaek port will play a catalytic role in the process of economic development in the region. The direct and major interaction with hinterland will exert significant economic impacts on city and its vicinity. The modern port is required to paly a pivotal role in the logistics service. The logistics concept requires that all transportation and distribution systems be coordinated as one system. This new concept is bound to become the most important characteristics of the port in the years to come. Developing the port complex for these purpose will provide opportunities for both city and the port. Another new requirement for the port is to incorporate environmental considerations and spatial effects on the port-city interrelationship into their planning and management functions. Therefore, it will be vital for Pyongtaek port to be developed to perform comprehensive fuctions of logistics and high utility space in addition.
Searching for Best Practices in Developing Ports as Logistics Centers
전일수,위상원 한국항만경제학회 2005 韓國港灣經濟學會誌 Vol.21 No.4
Global firms are seeking to implement their global logistics strategies in two ways: the use of centralized inventories and/or postponement of final assembly. These strategies stress the importance of regional logistics centers. In most cases, regional logistics centers are located in or near ports so that changing demands can be met with economy, reliability and flexibility, The port can profit not only from the activities of logistics center itself, but also the increasing flow of cargo through the logistics center. A number of ports respond to this trend by shifting their emphasis from traditional cargo-handling services to value-added services. This paper presents guidelines drawn from the best practices of ports to be successful logistics centers to provide many aspects of value-added logistics services. These include: Effective Planning and Development of Logistics Centers; Institutional Incentive Scheme; Development of Free Trade Zones; Financing Infrastructure related to Logistics Centers; Developing Logistics Service Providers and Logistics Professionals; Development of Information Technology; and Regulatory and Administrative Issues. These guidelines will help managers of ports and policy makers of governments in the East Asian region learn to recognize, analyze and adopt the best practices for use.
