1988 Korean Chemical Engineering Research(HWAHAK KONGHA Vol.26 No.6

Reduction characteristics of Co or Mo oxide catalysts supported on activated carbon and alumina was studied under hydrogen atmosphere using a flow microbalance reactor. The results of TPR study and reduction kinetics study analyzed by the Elovich mechanism showed that the catalysts supported on the carbon had higher rate of reduction and lower variation of reduction activation energy with the extent of reduction. This suggested that the carbon support had less and more homogeneous interaction with the metal phases. The precursor oxide states examined by XRD and DRS and the reduced states investigated by ethylene hydrogenation and hydrogen chemisorption were in good correlation with the proposed explanation.

Vol.5 No.3

This paper sudies changes of land use and production systems in rural Vietnam with reference to the Renovation (Doi Moi) Policy. Most studies of rural Vietnam have dealt with agriculture only. In contrast, this paper deals with handicraft as well. Theoretically, the perspective of this paper, which emphasizes the role of common people in the Renovation Policy, is closely related to the everyday forms of resistance theory. The data for this paper were collected by the authos' in-depth interviews and participant observaions which were conducted twice in Februaru 1993 and February 1994. In addition, official data of the local administration were used. The place the authors did the fieldwork is Xa Dai Mo, a rural part of Greater Hanoi. Xa is often translated into commune or village, which the authors believe fostes misunderstanding. Xa means subcounty, the smallest and lowest echelon of the Vietnamese administration in rural areas. Many scholars have paid attention to the Renovation Policy in order to understand contemporary Vietnamese society. Most of them have tried to understand the Renovation Policy from the governmental-party-policy or from the international evironment-the collaps of the Soviet Union and trasformation of Eastern European Countries. But this paper emphasized the internal factors of the Renovation Policy. According to the authors, the Renovation Policy started informally among the common people long before the official announcement of it in 1986. People's demand for the Renovation Policy began to appear from the beginning of the collectivization of agriculture beyond the Lavor Exchange Group(To Doi Cong). The Labor Exchange Group was composed of about 15 households. The organization was built and developed according to the people's experiences. But the cooperatives of the village level which is quite smaller than that of the Xalevel were built in two or three years after the Labor Exchage Group was introduced. Though farmers were reluctant to collectivize at first, finally they participated as a result of the propagnda and persuasion of the Communist Party. With the end of the anti-American War, the problems of collective farms came to be clearly exposed and the "agrarian crisis" became apparent. Farmers' dissatisfaction with cooperatives was expressed by their answers to the authors' questions too. According to the farmers, eheir living during the collective perod was the worst from French colonialism through the 1990's. There fore, in 1979, the party decided to give farmers more aoutonomy in production. A new system -the Contract System-was introduced. Under the new system, land reamains collectively owned, but farming is done individually on subdivided plots. At the same time, the size of cooperatives has been made larger. Cooperativization at the Xa level began. This experience is in contrast to those of other socialist countries. I other socialist countries, expansion of farmers' aoutonomy has entailed the dismantling of cooperatives. Therefore, the changes in rural Vietnam cannot be understood just from the experieces of other socialist countries or in a unidirectional way. The hadicraft cooperative in the Xa has had different experiences from agricultural cooperatives. It was transformed into a new prganization in 1993, which is quite long after the change of agriculturalcooperative. In transforming the handicraft cooperative, the cooperative members, not the party, took the initiative. All the members came together and discussed problems of the handicraft cooperaive. Finally, they decided to make it smaller and to heavily cut welfare costs. The rationalization for this resulted from debate among the cooperative members, not by the government. In conclusion, this paper criticizes the simplistic understanding about the Renovation Policy which overephasizes the role of the Communist party and other socialist countries' experiences. Instead, this paper emphasizes the role of ordinary people in the Renovation Policy.

Vol.0 No.33

Korean Folk-Lore Society was founded in April 1932 in Seoul and there were 8 members of founding the society: Sohn Jin-tae, Paik Nak-jun, Chung In-sop, Lee Sun-kun, Choi Jin-soon, Lee Chong-tae, Sohng Suk-ha(chair). The society seemed to be named after 'volkskunde' in terms of content with the "folk-lore" as a superficial format. The naming itself had involved into "the hidden transcript"(Scott's terminology) under the colonial suppression of political arena. After foundation, Prof. Akiba Takashi and Mr. Imamura Tomoe participated actively into the society. I would consider that those two Japanese(one is a professor at Keijo Imperial University, another one is a former government officer) were intentionally invited by the Korean members to cover up their political position against the colonial government by means of the hidden transcript. Censorship was the key issue, I believe. In 1933 the first volume of <Korean Folk-lore> was published using Korean language under the auspiece of Sohng Suk-ha, The third edition in 1940 employed Japanese language and responsibility of publication was with Akiba Takashi who intended to publish the journal of <Korean Folk-lore> as the commemorative issue for the Imamura's 70th birthday memorial. We are able to understand that the colonial hegemony and wartime atmosphere did appear through the changing situation of even publishing the journal. Korean Folk-lore Society during the wartime experienced inactivity and journal publication was also terminated. Some key members of the society tried to revive their activity in terms of introducing the Korean folklore in the new journal titled as <Tourism Korea> for a short time. Finally, the society disappeared at the end of the wartime. Activities like organizing the academic society as well as publishing the journal <Korean Folk-lore> can be considered as kinds of folklore movement under the framework of center-periphery of the Japanese colonial system. Folklore in Japan had started with small numbers of gentry hobby and finally transformed into an academic sector while Korea as a periphery started from beginning with academic perspective. Korean experience of beginning the folklore as an academism got through the colonial power to conduct censorship as well as domination even in the publication sector. I like to focus on the political situation of colonialism and the hidden transcript employed by the colonized against the colonizer. The society revived in terms of a small voice after the liberation without any activities.

Vol.14 No.-

Nowadays, the agricultural products trade system is changing rapidly because the condition of farming trade system is undergoing a change quickly. Since 1996 trade market was opened completely, so many multinational foreign enterprises are advancing our domestic market. These new trade enterprises are looking for marketing strategy that treat agricultural products strategically. So whole agricultural products system are changing fast. Finally it affects not only trade but also production parts. And then I'll analyze the participation condition of products trade according to the agricultural products marketing changes and its changing prospect. Moreover the countermeasure has to have trademind as a producer of products, and recognize the stability of goods to satisfy the standard of consumer. At last, producer community should develop business positively to raise the power of the marketing negotiation and should have a information about the trade change.
