          전남 해안 LPG 저장공동 유출수와 주변 지하수의 수질특성

          LPG를 저장하는 지하공동의 수장막 시스템은 고압의 가스가 공동 밖으로 새어나가지 못하도록 원활한 지하수의 흐름과 안정적인 지하수두 유지가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 전남 여수 LPG공동의 유출수 및 주변 지하수의 수질특성을 파악하기 위하여 2007년 2월, 5월, 8월, 10월에 걸쳐 시료채취, 현장측정 및 실내 수질분석을 실시하였다. 현장 측정 결과 pH는 약산성에서 중성으로 나타났고 10월로 갈수록 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 전기전도도는 소금적치장과 인접한 관정의 경우 $10.47{\sim}38.50\;mS/cm$로 매우 높게 나타났다. 용존산소는 $0.20{\sim}8.74\;mg/L$로 매우 넓은 범위를 보였고, 산화환원전위는 평균 159 mV로 비교적 산화환경임을 나타냈다. 또 $Fe^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$의 농도는 대부분 3 mg/L 미만으로 나타났다. 수질유형은 유출수의 경우 4차례 모두 Na-Cl type로 나타났으나 지하수의 경우 소금적치장 인접 관측정은 Na-Cl type으로 높은 TDS를 보였다. 다른 지하수 관측정은 전형적인 $Ca-HCO_3$ type으로 나타났다. 미생물 분석결과 호기성세균의 수가 $573{\sim}39,520\;CFU/mL$로 비교적 높게 검출되었다. 본 연구에서 수리화학 및 미생물학적 특성을 분석한 결과 지하수와 유출수는 여수 저장공동의 운영에 있어서 큰 문제를 일으키지 않을 것으로 사료된다. 그러나 미생물 증식의 제어와 수리적 안정성을 유지하기 위해서는 지속적인 모니터링이 요구된다. Water curtain of an underground LPG storage cavern is a facility to prevent leakage of high pressure gases, for which groundwater should flow freely towards the cavern and groundwater level also must be stably maintained. In this study, in order to evaluate qualities of seepage water and surrounding groundwater of an underground LPG storage cavern in Yeosu, 4 rounds of samplings, field measurements and laboratory analyses (February, May, August, October of 2007) were conducted. According to field measurements, pH was weak acidic to neutral but it gradually increased with time. Electrical conductivity (EC) of groundwater near a salt stack showed very high values between 10.47 and 38.50 mS/cm. Dissolved oxygen (DO) showed a very wide range of 0.20~8.74 mg/L and a mean of oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) was 159 mV, which indicated an oxidized condition. Levels of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ were mostly less than 3 mg/L. All of seepage waters showed a Na-Cl type while only groundwater near the salt stack showed a Na-Cl type with a high total dissolved solid. The other groundwaters exhibited typical $Ca-HCO_3$ types. Levels of aerobic bacteria were mostly very high (573-39,520 CFU/mL). Based on the analyses of these hydrochemistry and biological characteristics, it is concluded that there are no particular problems in groundwater and seepage water, which not causing a trouble in the cavern operation. However, both for control of bio-clogging and for sustainable operation of the water curtain system, a regular hydrochemical and microbiological monitoring is required for the seepage water and surrounding groundwater.

          한방 소아과에 내원한 환아 보호자 일반적인 인식도 조사와 한약치료후의 반응에 대한 후향적 연구

          Objective : In this study we aimed to· investigate the parental recognition on Herbal Medication. The result showed that parents concerned about the effect of Herbal Medication on liver function and gaining weight. Therefore, we had a retrospective study on the effect of Herbal Medicaion on liver function and gaining weight. Method : In parent's recognition study, we surveyed 354 parents of children who make a first visit to Department of Oriental Pediatrics in ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Medical Center from 3 October to 2 November 2005. In retrospective study, we examined medical record of 22 children who visited to Department of Oriental Pediatrics in Kyunghee Medical Center from 30 September 2005 to 1 January 2005. Height, weight, BMI, body fat mass, body fat ratio, AST and ALT were estimated at two points; before and after Herbal Medicaion treatment. Result: The mean of expectation of parents on the efficacy of Herbal Medication was 75.14 on the VAS scale, which was interpreted as significantly high. The result showed the effect of Herbal Medicaion on liver function(48%) and gaining weight(53%) took the largest portion. When we observe the effect of Herbal Medication on Liver function, after Herbal Medication treatment we have slightly increased AST and slightly decreased ALT, but they were not statistically significant. Also we observe the effect of Herbal Medication on getting obesity after Herbal Medication treatment. The result showed that we have slightly decreased BMI, body fat mass, body fat ratio, but they were not statistical1y significant. Conclusion : Our report shows parents of children have high expectation and stand favorable on the efficacy of the Herbal Medication. We found that parents concerned the most about the effect of Herbal Medicaion on liver function and gaining weight. Our retrospective study showed that Herbal Medicaion treatment on children has relationship with neither liver function nor the degree of obesity.

          방풍통성산가미방(防風通聖散加味方)이 비만유도(肥滿誘導) 백풍(白嵐)와 지방세포(脂肪細胞) 분화(分化)에 미치는 영향(影響)

          Objective : This experimental study was designed to determine the anti-obestic effects of Bangpoongtongsungcankamibang(BTSK). Method : In vitro, BTSK extracts of various concentration (50,100, 200 $200{\mu}g/ml$)were added examination. The protein and mRNA expression of $C/EBP{\alpha}$ and $PPAR{\gamma}$ receptor was measured by western blot assay and RT-PCR. In vivo, BTSK extracts of various concentration (100, $200{\mu}g/ml$) were orally administered to induced hyperlipidemic rats by poloxamer-407 for consecutive four weeks and serum triglyceride, total cholesterol were measured. This method applied to induced hyperlipidemic rats by triton WR-1339, too. Obesity induced rats by the high fat-diet for six weeks were orally administered BTSK extracts of various concentration (100, $200{\mu}g/ml$) and serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, hydroxy radical, superoxide dismuatse activity were measured. Results : I. In vitro 1. The 3T3-L1 cells' differentiation was significantly decreased by BTSK. 2. expression of $C/EBP{\alpha}$ and $PPAR{\gamma}$ was was significantly decreased by BTSK. II. In vitro 1. BTSK significantly reduced serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, contents in poloxamer-407 treated rat. 2. BTSK significantly reduced serum triglyceride, contents in Triton WR-1339 treated rat. But Total cholesterol did not show a significant change. 3. BTSK significantly reduced body weight gain of rat and adipose tissue mass of rats and serum triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, contents and significantly increased HDL-cholesterol, HTR(HDL-cholesterol/Total-cholesterol) in rats with obesity induced by the high fat-diet. 4. BTSK reduced blood lipid peroxide, hydroxy radical and increased superoxied dismuatse(SOD) activity.

          면역세포의 cytokine 유리에 미치는 substance P의 영향

          The neuropeptide substance P(SP) has been implicated in the mediation of inflammation and immune-mediated disease such as arthritis. Recently, it was reported that SP was markedly increased around the blood vessels in inflamed gingiva as well as in close association with the inflammatory cell infiltrate. These results support that SP may contribute to the pathophysiology of neuronal inflammation in human periodontal tissues. SP may regulate inflammatory/immune responses by stimulating the proliferation of human T cells, differentiation and antibody-secreting potential of B cells, macrophage respiratory burst, connective tissue proliferation, and the secretion of cytokines from monocytes and T cells. Here, I studied potential role of SP as a costimulatory chemical signal in inflammatory/immune responses, by determining the released proinflammatory cytokines such as $MIP-1{\alpha}$, $IL-1{\beta}$, and IL-6 from culture supernatants of homogeneous immune cell lines. Serum free cell supernatants were concentrated with TCA precipitation, fractionated with SDS-PAGE, and subjected into western blot analysis. Among 15 cell lines tested, macrophage/monocyte cell line RAW264.7 and WRl9m.1 showed the highest level of induction of $MIP-1{\alpha}$ when stimulated with LPS. Discrete IL-6 bands with multiple forms of molecular mass were detected from supernatants of B cell lines A20(32kDa), Daudi(32, 35kDa), and SKW6.4(29kDa), which were expressed constitutively. $IL-1{\beta}$ could not be detected by the method of western blot analysis from supernatants of all cell lines tested except RAW264.7, WRl9m.1, and erythroid cell line K562 which showed the least amount of $IL-{\beta}$ secretion. SP $10^{-9}M$ with suboptimal dose of LPS treatment showed synergistic induction of $MIP-1{\alpha}$ release from RAW264.7 or WR19m.1, and also IL-6 release from A20, but this synergism is not the case in costimulation of RAW264.7 or WRl9m.1 with SP $10^{-9}M$ and TPA. Although treatment of T cell line CTLL-R8 with SP $10^{-7}M$ or PHA+TPA induced modest level of $MIP-1{\alpha}$ secretion, synergism was not observed when they are applied together. These findings all together suggest the possibility of a regulatory role of SP in inflammatory/immune reaction through differential modulation of bioactivities of other chemical cosignals.

          경주 국가지하수관측소 일자료로 본 경주지진 영향

          Earthquakes of M5.1, M5.8 and M4.5 occurred in September 12 and 19 respectively in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province. Theses earthquakes inflated fears of people and highlighted necessity of detailed countermeasures because we have considered our country is safe to earthquakes. In the meanwhile, earthquake also impacts groundwater and thus it was recently reported that the Gyeongju Earthquakes affected groundwater there. This study evaluates daily groundwater data collected from five national groundwater monitoring stations (Geoncheon, Sannae, Oedong, Yangbuksin, Cheonbuk) in Gyeongju. The analysis revealed that only groundwater level of bedrock monitoring well hosted in andesite exhibited earthquake impact while no wells in the other four stations hosted in sedimentary rocks showed substantial responses to the earthquakes. This may be derived from the difference of seismic velocity of hosting rocks as well as epicenter distance. Special interest on groundwater monitoring is required to predict earthquakes as precursory phenomena.

          조기난소부전증 여성에서 난소단백질에 대한 순환항체에 관한 연구

          The purpose of this study is to identify the presence of the circulating antibodies directed toward ovarian proteins{antiovarian antibodies, AOA) and the nature of antigenic ovarian structure by comparing the binding activities to 4 types of ovarian proteins, particulated and solubilized forms of pig ovarian and granulosa cell membranes in sera of patients with premature ovarian failure(POF) and to evaluate the usefulness of circulating AOA as a follow up tool after treatment. Measurements of AOA were performed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in sera of 58 patients with POF, 51 had normal chromosomes and 7 had X chromosome abnormalities. Sera of 21 natural menopausal women and 17 castrated women were also tested and sera of 32 healthy premenopausal women were served as controls. ELISA reactivities against particulated porcine granulosa cell membrane proteins was the greatest among 4 different ovarian proteins. Fifteen(29%) of 51 POF patients with normal chromosome and 1(14.3%) of 7 POF patients with X chromosome abnormalities had AOA while none of 32 controls and 21 natural menopausal women and 17 castrated women had AOA. One POF patient with 47, XXX was identified AOA positive. The ELISA reactivities were followed up monthly up to 5 months in 4 AOA positive POF patients after estrogen-progestin{E-P) therapy. There was a decreasing tendency of the ELISA reactivities in all these patients after E-P therapy and two of them converted to AOA negative. These data suggest that antigenic structure may be components of granulosa cell membrane and the determination of circulating AOA may be useful in the follow up after treatment in patients with autoimmune POF.
