요즈음 자동차가 많이 늘어나 생활이 편리해졌지만 교통체증, 주차문제말고도 심각한 대기오염으로 우리의 건강을 위협하고 있다. 우리가 추구하는 과학기술의 연구가 자연환경을 크게 오염시키는 결과를 초래한다면 이 연구를 거부할만한 양식을 가져야 하고 만약 그 연구를 계속해야 한다면 환경오염 처리방법도 함께 연구해야 할 것이다.
다공성 관을 흐르는 유체의 유속, 압력, 투과수 유량에 관한 연구

The flow rate of the fluid flowing in a porous membrane tube decreases as the fluid flows out through the wall of the tube. In order to find out the relationships between the flow velocity, pressure and the permeate flow rate, we considered the membrane as a linear porous tube with constant diameter and set the mass balance with the fluids and the permeates for each unit length. On this basis, the systems of nonlinear second order differential equations are derived for the entire porous tube. Since these equations are nonlinear, Gauss-Siedel method or the numerical method for the nonlinear differential equations must be used to solve the system. Since the flow rate of the permeate is varied with the operating condition such as the pressure, the solutions of the equations are achieved at each condition, using the numerical integration methods such as the Simpson's rules. In order to analyze and compare simulation results, we have performed the practical experiments using the porous tubular membranes with the constant diameter. The computer simulation and the experimental results are presented to illustrate the scope of this work.

This technical note demonstrates the feasibility of using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for the characterization of Ue7Mo/Ale5Si dispersion fuel. Our measurements show 5.0% Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) for the reproducibility of measured 98Mo/238U ratios in fuel particles from spot analysis, and 3.4% RSD for 98Mo/238U ratios in a NIST-SRM 612 glass standard. Line scanning allows for the distinction of Ue7Mo fuel particles from the Ale5Si matrix. Each mass spectrum peak indicates the presence of U e7Mo fuel particles, and the time width of each peak corresponds to the size of that fuel particle. The size of the fuel particles is estimated from the time width of the mass spectrum peak for 98Mo by considering the scan rate used during the line scan. This preliminary application clearly demonstrates that laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry can directly identify isotope ratios and sizes of the fuel particles in UeMo/Al dispersion fuel. Once optimized further, this instrument will be a powerful tool for investigating irradiated dispersion fuels in terms of fission product distributions in fuel matrices, and the changes in fuel particle size or shape after irradiation.

포항종합제철에서는 국내 최초로 열연공장의 AGC(Automatic Gauge Control) 용으로 소형계산기를 1975년 7원 설치하여 현재 성공적으로 가동중에 있으며 앞으로 열연공장이외에 냉연공장, 소결공장, 고로공장, 분괴공장, 제강공장, Energy Center등에도 제어용 계산기를 도입할 예정으로 있다. 본고가 계산기 시스템 설계 및 사용에 관심이 있는 분들에게 조금이나마 참고가 되기를 바라며 개괄적이나마 외국의 실례를 살펴본 것으로 하였다. 앞으로 우리 자체의 것으로 보고할 기회가 오기를 기대하면서 많은 지도와 편달을 바라는 바이다.

Influence of Gd and Zr co-doping on the change in structure of uranium dioxide

To understand the structural character of the spent nuclear fuel, element doped UO<sub>2</sub> have been studied as simulated spent fuel. Previous studies have been focused on single element doped UO<sub>2</sub>. In this study, we have been investigated the effect on both Gd-and Zr-doping on the UO<sub>2</sub> structure to characterize the influence of co-doping of trivalent and tetravalent elements. U<sub>1-x-y</sub>Gd<sub>x</sub>Zr<sub>y</sub>O<sub>2</sub> pellets have been characterized by SEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy. Images obatined from SEM technique show that the domain size decreases rapidly with the increase of Gd and Zr doping level. The substitution of Gd and Zr atoms into the UO<sub>2</sub> lattice is confirmed by lattice parameters from XRD spectra. The lattice parameters are refined from each XRD spectrum and they show linearly decreasing of lattice change with increasing doping level. Raman spectra show that presence of Gd<sup>3+</sup>-oxygen vacancy clusters and ZrO<sub>8</sub>-type complex in the structure of U<sub>1-x-y</sub>Gd<sub>x</sub>Zr<sub>y</sub>O<sub>2</sub>.
