Cosmic radiation environments having extremely high-energy particles and photons cause severe malfunctions of electrical components in space and terrestrial regions. In this study, we revisit basic knowledge on radiation effects in ICT electrical devices, such as single event effect, total ionizing dose, and displacement damage. To avoid such soft errors and system failures, we introduce essential technical approaches from the perspectives of materials, layouts, circuits, and systems, including current research trends. By considering several techniques and Space EEE part standards, we suggest possible directions that can invoke New Space Era technology.

The availability of the thermal energy has been deeply recognized recently to encourage the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion. Within the framework, a 1kW class Stirling engine based cogeneration system has been proposed for a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emissions and noise. To develop a highly efficient system satisfying these requirements, a premixed slit type short flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. Numerical analysis were compared the burner.
수치해석을 이용한 HRSG(Heat Recovery Steam Generator) 증기 드럼 설계

HRSG (Hear Recovery Steam Generator) is a boiler to recover heat from the exhaust gas of an engine and generate steam for more power generation or process. For the HRSG, water-tube type boiler has a steam drum to separate steam from the water-steam mixture supplied from the evaporator tube(riser). The drum should be sized properly to separate the steam by the gravity and auxiliary internals such as a demister are installed to filter the steam. To size the steam drum and to estimate the filter efficiency of drum internals, the velocity distribution inside the drum need to be identified. In the present study, a series of CFD has been conducted to find the velocity distributions inside steam drums for conventional HRSGs and water-tube type industrial boilers. The velocity distributions obtained from the simulation have been normalized and a correlation to predict them has been found. The correlation is applied to the steam drum design by determining a proper position of a demister to show proper separation performance.

The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emission and noise. To develop a highly efficient system with satisfying these requirements, a premixed slot type short flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. The thermal radiation model has been found to highly affect the computational results and a proper resolution to analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the high temperature heat exchanger. Finally, the combustion characteristics of the premixed flame with the metal fiber type burner has been studied.

Hybrid laser welding technology is a good process to reduce a thermal distortion and increase the productivity. However, it requires a high investment and a massive modification of the fabrication line such as a gantry system, milling machine for the edge preparation, high power laser system and weld machine. Therefore the development of an economical laser welding system is a crucial point to apply this system in shipbuilding yard. In this study, a portable hybrid laser welding carriage was developed for I-butt joint without edge milling. It is expected that the carriage type system could reduce investment cost.
