In the hydraulic cylinder, various hard coating methods has been essentially applied to piston rod and cylinder to reduce the abrasive wear. Solid particles affect the sealing performance and contaminate the hydraulic oil. In this study, a sliding contact problem related with a spherical hard particle and Cr-plated steel substrate was modeled to investigate the wear mechanisms with the plating layer thickness. Using the nonlinear finite element software, MARC/MENTAT, the deformed shapes, the von-Mises and first principal stress distributions with plating layer thickness were compared. The Cr-plated hydraulic cylinder surface could also be worn down by coating layer fatigue together with the well-known abrasion.

Vane pump performance is affected by the leakage and the friction between the relative moving parts. So, it is very important to understand the characteristics of lubricating relative moving parts in order to improve the relative performance of the vane pump. Therefore, many studies on the lubrication characteristics of the relative moving parts have been progress. Shape, mechanisms, operating conditions, clearance and material properties were trying to identify the lubricating properties as theoretical or experimental from a variety of perspectives. In this paper, using a commercial computational fluid dynamics(CFD) got a change of lubrication characteristics of the vane using a surface texturing. The results showed that the streamlines, pressure distributions, variations of friction force and leakage for surface texturing.

In this paper. a method to assess the reliability of an insulating spacer used in gas insulated switchgear by electrical accelerated lifetime test is represented. And a test plan to assure the expected lifetime with 90 % confidence level is also included.
