순산소 재순환 연소를 채택한 CO₂ 회수형 보일러 연소실에 대한 수치해석

An oxy-fuel boiler has been developed to capture CO₂ from the exhaust gas. FGR (flue gas recirculation) is adopted to be compliant with the retrofit scenario. Numerical simulations have been performed to study the detailed physics inside the combustion chamber of the boiler. The temperature field obtained from the simulation agrees with the flame image from the experiment. The FGR combustion yields similar heat transfer characteristics with the conventional air combustion while the flame is formed further downstream in case of the FGR combustion.

HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator) is a boiler to recover heat from the exhaust gas of an engine and to generate steam for more power generation or process. For the HRSG, water-tube type boiler is commonly adopted to accommodate the working pressure or capacity requirement of the system. The water-tube type boiler has a steam drum to separate steam from the water-steam mixture supplied from the evaporator tube (riser). The drum should be sized properly to separate the steam by the gravity and auxiliary internals, such as a demister, which are installed to filter the steam. To size the steam drum and to estimate the filter efficiency of drum internals, the velocity distribution inside the drum needs to be identified. In the present study, a series of CFD has been conducted to find the velocity distributions inside steam drums for conventional HRSGs and water-tube type industrial boilers. The velocity distributions obtained from the simulation have been normalized and a correlation to predict them has been found. The correlation is applied to the steam drum design by determining a proper position of a demister to show proper separation performance.

Operating medium or large scale industrial boilers in partial load condition, the burner should undergo the off-design points resulting in poor exhaust gas characteristics. To obtain the stable turn down performance, two or more burners can be used for the industrial boiler. In case multiple burners are adopted, the heat transfer can be enhanced by arranging the burners properly. In the present study, numerical simulations have been conducted for the combustion chamber of a 2 t/h class industrial boiler in order to clarify the heat transfer characteristics at the combustion chamber.

The availability of the thermal energy has been deeply recognized recently to encourage the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion. Within the frame work, a 1 kW class Stirling engine based cogeneration system has been proposed for a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emission and noise. To develop a highly efficient system with satisfying these requirements, a premixed slot type short flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. The thermal radiation model has been found to highly affect the computational results and a proper resolution to analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the high temperature heat exchanger. Finally, the combustion characteristics of the premixed flame with the metal fiber type burner has been studied.
