도서가격정책이 서점 성과에 미치는 영향: 한국 도서정가제 개정 사례를 중심으로

This study analyzed the difference in the performance of retail bookstores by size in order to confirm whether the imbalance in the distribution market has been resolved, which is the main expected effect of the revised fixed book price system in November 2014. I estimated the heterogeneous treatment effect of the revision of the fixed book price system by bookstore size using data from Statistics Korea's service industry surveys (2013, 2014, 2016) and economic census (2015). I found that the sales and operating profit of large bookstores increased significantly after the revision of the fixed book price system. As the results of analysis by bookstore type, there was no significant change in the sales of consumer-based bookstores after the revision of the fixed price system, but the sales of small and large bookstores increased in visit-based bookstores. On the other hand, operating profit decreased at medium bookstores and increased at large bookstores. These results suggest that the revision of the fixed book price system had an effect on the performance of specific bookstore sizes and types rather than narrowing the performance gap between small-medium bookstores and large bookstores. 본 연구는 2014년 11월에 개정된 도서정가제의 주요 기대효과인 유통시장(서점)의 불균형 해소 여부를 확인하기 위해 소매서점의 성과 변화를 분석하였다. 통계청의 서비스업조사(2013, 2014, 2016)와 경제총조사(2015)자료를 연계하여 도서정가제 개정이 서점규모별 성과에 미친 이질적 처치효과를 분석한 결과, 대형서점의 매출액과 영업이익이 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 서점 유형을 고려한 분석한 결과를 보면, 도서정가제 개정 후 일반소비자판매 서점의 매출액은 유의한 변화가 없었으나, 매장판매 소형서점과 대형서점의 매출액은 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 반면 영업이익은 중형서점에서 감소하고 대형서점에서 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과는 도서정가제 개정이 중소형서점과 대형서점 간의 성과 격차 축소보다는 특정 서점 규모 및 유형의 성과에만 영향을 주었음을 보여준다.

우리가 국공립 극장과 예술단체에 거는 기대는 민간부문보다 월등한 인적, 물적 자원을 기반으로 창작과 향유의 중심 역할과 함께 공공재원의 안정적인 지원을 기반으로 예술성과 공공성을 추구할 수 있다는 점이다. 그러나 우리 국공립극장과 예술단체는 기대와는 달리 전근대적인 운영의 틀 속에서 제 역할을 못하고 있다는 비판을 받아온 지 오래다. 운영 예산이 왜소하고, 그만큼 활동량도 적고, 예술성과 공공성에 관한 비판이 있어왔으며, 관객기반 또한 취약하기 그지없다.이 연구는 국공립예술단체의 운영혁신을 위한 논점을 단체 내부의 혁신, 전속극장과의 관계재정립 등으로 제시하고 있다. 내부적인 혁신은 예술적 역량 혹은 수준을 높이는 일이다. 이런 일들을 제대로 하기 위해서는 그만큼의 예산도 있어야 한다. 투자가 있어야 예술적 성과도 있는 것이다.우리 국공립예술단체는 모기관인 극장에 상주, 혹은 전속단체로 있으면서 극장의 프로그램운영이 예술단체 중심이 아닌 극장 중심으로 기획과 대관에 의존하는 비율이 커서 예술단체의 존재감이 매우 미약하다. 예술단체의 예술적 역량이 강화되고 활동도 확대된다면 이제 이런 관행은 역전이 되어야 할 것이다.모기관인 극장과 국공립예술단체의 관계 재설정을 논할 때 독립법인화 문제도 빼 놓을 수 없다. 물론 법인화를 성공적으로 추진하기 위해서는 활동을 뒷받침할 합당한 예산의 안정적인 지원, 독립성과 전문성을 보장하는 장치의 마련이 가장 중요한 일이다.

Hedda Gabler의 서브텍스트:무대 뒤의 인물들을 중심으로

Hedda Gabler, as one of Ibsen’s later plays, has often been judged in the context of his earlier realistic plays. The attentions used to fall upon the new woman in content, and the well-made play in form. The approach to Hedda Gabler based on the criteria of early realism results in missing its underlying meaning, because Hedda Gabler is somewhat different from its predecessors. Ibsen constructs a complex play in Hedda Gabler, seeking after Inner Reality, the characteristic of Modernism, as well as Outer Reality. Under the text of Hedda Gabler, Ibsen weaves a subtext, “concealed” or “unspoken” text which centers around the absent characters or offstage characters. The subtext gives aid to the fine building of Hedda Gabler. Aunt Rina, an unseen invalid helplessly lying on bed offstage, stands for a typical “motherly figure” which Hedda abhors. She, however, gives an influence to Tesman, in an unknown way to Hedda, which hints a primordial life force ironically. So, the death of Aunt Rina entails the death of Hedda. Diana, a prostitute, plays the part of a connecting tissue to complete the symmetry of a male-female structure. She functions as substitute for the unavailable Hedda. Psychologically she is a surrogate- self of Hedda, an embodiment of Hedda’s repressed desire. General Gabler, absent as he is, both begins and ends this play, as the portrait and the pistols which are metonymic substitutions for him. The heredity and the environment he has sown determines Hedda’s ways of thinking and behavior. The absent father in modern drama, symbolizes the Death of God, as it were, the loss of an absolute standard.
