        랫드의 약물성 간장 장해에 대한 대파의 보호 효과

        본 실험에서는 랫드에 사염화탄소 중독을 유발하여 국내산 대파의 약물성 간장 장애에 대한 보호 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 모든 실험동물에 대하여 복강으로 사염화탄소를 주입하였고 여름대파와 겨울대파를 그룹별로 2%, 4%, 10% (v/v)을 급여하고 약물대조 효과를 알아보기 위하여 마늘 4% 투여군을 두었다. 각 그룹에 대한 성장률과 증체율에 있어서는 대조군과 대파 처리군에서 유의할 만한 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 혈청내 총단백질과 알부민 수치는 대조군과 처리군에서 유의할 만한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 혈청내 총지질의 양에서는 사염화탄소만 처리한 랫드에 비하여 대파를 급여하고 사염화탄소를 처리한 모든 군에서 감소하는 경향을 보였다(p<0.05). 여름대파 투여군에 비하여 겨울대파 처리군이 비교적 유의적으로 낮게 나타났다. 혈청 GOT와 GPT 활성도의 변화에서는 여름대파에 비하여 겨울대파가 유의적으로 낮게 나타나 대파의 급여가 간독성의 방어에 유의할만한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 혈청내 ALP 활성도 역시 대파 투여군과 마늘 투여군이 사염화탄소 단독 투여군에 비해 유의성은 없지만 다소간 낮게 나타났다. 사염화탄소 투여한 랫드의 간장 병변은 간장의 섬유화, 공포변성 및 괴사 소견이 나타났으나, 대파 투여군에서 사염화탄소 단독 투여 랫드군에 비하여 병변의 억제효과가 나타났다. 이상의 결과 여름대파와 겨울대파는 생체내에서 사염화탄소의 중독시의 간장손상에 대하여 보호 효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Welsh onion administration on CCl₄-induced hepatic injury in rats. The increasing rate of the body and organ weight was not significantly different by the administration of the Welsh onion. Welsh onion (2, 4, 10% w/w) was given for 4 weeks with the injections of CCl₄. Total serum lipid was significantly decreased in all treatment groups compared to CCl₄ only treatment group (p<0.05). The Welsh onion from winter season was more protective effect by lowering the serum levels of transminase (SGOT and SGPT) compared with others, the levels of transminase~phosphatase (ALP) in serum. The Welsh onion from winter at a dose of 4%, 10% (w/w) showed significantly hepatoprotective activity which was comparable to that CCl₄-induced hepatic damage. Histological evaluation showed that Welsh onion partially prevented CCl₄-induced inflammation, necrosis and vacuolation. Pretreatment of Welsh onion reduced extent of the necrosis found 2₄ hr after the intraperitoneal administration of CCl₄. The present study shows the liver protective action of the Welsh onion against experimentally induced liver damage in rats. This suggests that the Welsh onion may be used as an effective hepatoprotective agent.

        한우 송아지의 초유 섭취 수준 측정 진단법 비교

        For screening the appropriate field diagnostic techniques to failure of passive immuno-globulin transfer(FPT) in Korean-indigenous calves, 258 sera was examined by spectino-photometry for total protein(TP) and globulin(Glo), sodium sulfate precipitation test(SSPT), zinc sulfate turbidity test(ZSTT), and single radial immunodiffusion test(sRID). All calves aged within 6-week old. Morbidity and mortality to various diseases, mainly including enteric and respiratory disorders, were 18.9%(49) and 4.2%(11), respectively. FPT was 27,9%(72/258) when the cutoff point of TP was 4.5g/㎗ and among them the morbidity and mortality were 27.9% and 6.9%, respectively. FPT was 29.1%(75/258) when the cutoff point of Glo was 2.0g/㎗ and among them the morbidity and mortality were 29.0% and 6.9%, respectively. FPT was 13.1%(34/258) when the cutoff point of SSPT was 1+ and among them the morbidity and mortality were 67.6% and 23.5%, respectively. FPT was 19.7%(51/258) when the cutoff point of IgG with sRID was 1,000 ㎎/㎗ and among them the morbidity and mortality were 41.1% and 11.7%, respectively. In addition, mean concentration of IgG with sRID tested was 2,150 ㎎/㎗ at 3-day old but 1,100 ㎎/㎗ at 9-days with 1,100㎎/㎗. The results of the study were suggested that SSPT for FPT was the relatively reliable and convinient method for evaluating the immune status of calves(P<0.05).

        전남 지방의 홀스타인 송아지의 질병 발생율 조사

        The prevalence of major calf disease was investigated in 117 Holstein dairy calves in Chonnam area. All of them were moved in the College experimental farm which is operated in intensive units. clinical signs were daily examined throughout two months after the introduction of the College farm. Among calves, 92 cases(78.6%) died in the two months after the introduction in it. Outbreaks of respiratory and alimentary diseases were their main causes of their fatality. The incidence of respiratory disorders during the full period of the experiment was up to 42.8 %, and the alimentary diseases were occurred 35.9% of the herd. Most of the mortality was related with respiratory(59.9%) and alimentary(52.1%) pathogens. Also calf mortality by combined infection claimed 6.6% among 100 morbidity cases. Principle pathogens to cause mortality were Pasteurella spp(44.4%), E coli(29.9%), bovine viral diarrhea virus(16.2%), IBRV(12.0%), respectively. Viruses also played as an important role in increasing calf morbidity to secondary respiratory bacterial pathogens. Pasteurella infection combined with infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus(11 cases), para-influenza virus type-3(9 cases), or bovine respiratory syncytial virus(7 cases) was appeared as major pattern to mortality. colibacillosis in causing enteritis was concurrently infected with BVD(19 cases), bovine coronavirus infection(14 cases), salmonellosis(5 cases), coccidiosis(5 cases) and clostridial infection(4 cases). Ninty-two cases to death were appeared to have 100% neutralizing antibodies to BCV; Among them, 73.8% had the neutralizing antibody level higher than 64. Calves with neutralizing antibodies higher than 16 to BVDV were 50%. The cases with neutralizing antibody level lower than 8 to BEFV were 89.4% that means the necessity of appropriate vaccination.

        소 면역혈청을 이용한 초유 이행 부전 송아지의 치료 효과

        The efficacy of bovine immune sera to correct the calves with failure of passive transfer (FPT) was evaluated. Immune sera were produced from 14 one-year-old Holstein cattle which were inoculated commercial combined viral vaccine, administered by the challenge of some main enteric or respiratory viruses, aseptically filtered and stored at 4℃ before used. After the treatment of bovine immune sera, Mean transfer factor(㎎/㎗ of IgG administered/㎏ of body weight) was 5.46±2.74, 11.17±1.27, 1.40±0.21 in K-IP, H-IP and K-IV group, respec-tively. The corrective effect of bovine immune sera to FPT calf without any clinical signs showed that intravenous route was more effective than intraperitoneal administration(P<0.01). FPT calves with severe signs were not effective response to the immunotherapy used and consequently died within 10 days after the treatment. Ten percentage of controls appeared the clinical signs including diarrhea. On the contrary, there were not any clinical signs in K-IP and H-IV group. There was significant increase of the neutralizing titer against bovine viral diarrhea virus and bovine coronavirus as well as of cell population including CD2, CD4, and monocyte in K-IP and H-IV group after the immunotherapy(P<0.05). Also, K-IP and H-IV group showed the successful correction to FPT within one week after the immunotherapy, but controls had kept the FPT two-four weeks even after the same treatment. Consequently, the results were suggesting that the bovine immune sera could be used the corrective tool to young calves with FPT.

        한국 재래산양에서 Bovine Viral Diarrhea, Bovine Herpesvirus-1, Parainfluenza Type-3 바이러스에 대한 혈청학적 연구

        The 948 goat sera were serologically tested for ten pathogens including bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), bovine herpes virus type-1 (BHV-1) and parainfluenza virus type-3 (PI-3). By viral neutralizaion test, three pathogens including BVD virus, BHV-1, PI-3 were applied for screening each neutralizing antibody and its titration. Among 948 sera, there were 215 seropositives (22.7%) against BVD virus, 25 (2.6%) against BHV-1 virus, and 161 (17.0%) against PI-3 virus, respectively. In the seropositive cases to BVD virus, provincial prevalence of them were recorded as Gyeongnam(30.8%) for the highest one, while as Jeonbuk (15.8%) and Gyeongbuk(l6.7%) relatively for the lower ones. Among them, higher than 1:8 in antibody titration was classified as 74 cases (34.4%) which were suspected the cycle of its infection in their herds. Among the seropositives to BHV-1, it was relatively lower prevalence rate ranging from 1.7% to 6.7% that those of BVD virus and PI-3, but more importantly they were prevailing across the country. Most of the seropositive cases (42.9%) to PI-3 were classified as 1:4-1:16 in titration, but also distributed all around the country. The prevalence in goats varied according to areas (15.8 to 30.8%). Related to the provincial prevalence of three viral agents in Korean goats, it seemed that three viral pathogens would be directly or indirectly involving in various disorders as primary or secondary causative agents resulting in decreased productivity.

        한국 재래 산양에서 Leptospira spp.에 대한 혈청역학적 연구

        Between January 1999 and September 2001, 948 sera (120 from each province except 108 from Chungbuk) from 8 provinces were sampled from Korean goats. All the samples were serologically tested for Leptospira spp. By the microscopic agglutination test against four L. interrogans serovars including canicola, icterohaemorrhagiae, pomona and hardjo, 948 Korean goats were confirmed as 11 seropositives (1.2%) only infected with L. icterohemorrhagiae. All positive sera were collected from Gyeonggi (5), Gangwon (4) and Chungbuk (2). Titration of them were classified as 1:100 of 10 sera except one case with 1:200 from Gyeonggi. It was meaningful that the pathogen in Korean goats was mainly distributed in the northen part of the country. Consequently, the results in the study were confirmed and analyzed the recent status of infection of leptospirosisas zoonotic agentsome in Korean goats.
