In this research, researcher will examined the theoretical background of open education. Based on the results of the development of the suggested guidelines for a home economics teaching/learning program, researcher concludes that in order for the teaching/learning programs based on open education to be efficiently acieved in the classroom environment- organization at the middle school the following reform measures must accompany these programs. First in order for the special characteristics of open education, i.e., individualized and small group study, to be effectively achieved, it is necessary to gradually improve the physical class-room environment-organization. Second, the two class hours per week currently al1otted for hom economics are not sufficient to convey the information in the textbook. In order to reach objectives of teaching home economics according to open education a guarantee of a few more class hours is demanded. Third, in order to successfully achieve teaching/learning programs following open education, it is necessary for home economics teachers to make efforts to develop educational materials, and to engage in ongoing research and inservice training. For this to occur, measures must be taken to reduce the workload of teachers.

The purpose of this study is two-fold. One is to provide the teachers of Home Economics with the basic reference data ofthe relevance betwen Home Economics and other subjects taught in the middle schools for the purpose of bringing out more efficient classroom teaching. The other is to help the teachers, the textbook writers, and the curriculum reformers improve the curricula ofthe middle school on the basis of this research. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows: 1) The units of Human development and Family Relationship should be teught with reference to Korean Language, Ethics, and Music. 2) The unit of Adolescence Development is dealt with in Physical Education and in Ethics as well, which seems to indicate that there was no interdisciplinary consideration and cooperation beefore/when the curricula were made. 3) The unit of Nutrition which appears in the first grade in Home Economics has a close second grade in Natural Science. It is thought that the interdisciplinary themes ought to be organized cooperatively among subjects for efficiency of study. 4) Since the unit of Clothing is not dealt with in the other subjects, it can be developed in Home Economics on its own. 5) As the unit of Housing is closely related to Teachnology, it should be taught on the basis of Technology. 6) The textbooks of all subjects should be written based on the interdisciplinary research and cooperation. They should be organized in order not to overlap or repeat the same topic in the same level if it is not necessary.
고등학교 가정교과 가족관계 영역을 중심으로한 역할놀이 수업모형의 개발 및 적용 : For 'Family Relation' Unit

The objectives of the unit 'Family Relations' in high school Home Economics Education is to help the students cultivating proper values and self-esteem, maintaining harmonious personal relations not only by understanding hyman relationships in family, but also by acquiring role play, and is to wisely cope with many problems occurring in social life, which are indispensable for those living in modern society. But at present it is hard for the students to gain those abilities mentioned above, for the pesent unit 'Family Relations' lays special emphasis only on memorizing specific knowledge about the understanding of a family. To improve the present educational situation, this study develops a new teaching-learning method based on the role play model concerning the 'Family Relation' area of high school Home Economics Education curriculum. This study is theoretically based on the literature and previous studies on present problems of our various family relations, and solving its problems, and suggests lesson model of role play and its effect. This study was performed as following procedures:the 'Family Relation' unit of the present high school Home Economics Education curriculum was analyzed, and surveyed students to discover the conflicts and their solutions the high school students are now experiencing in their family relations. Accordingly, a new lesson model of the 'Family Relation' area, applying role play was developed. Based on the developed lesson plan, two two-hour classes were experimented and positive evaluation was given by students.
