We report a highly selective and sensitive explosive sensor system based on a biological receptor. The sensor system employs a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) whose sensing surface is functionalized with an anti-explosive oligo-peptide receptor. While other approaches with synthetic materials such as 4-mercapto phenol and Carbowax® has concerns over specificity because of additional interactions with polarized molecules including water and alcohols, the response of our biological receptor is highly selective to dinitrotoluene (DNT) which is an explosive marker molecule. We demonstrate that the sensor does not respond to other explosive analogues and polar molecules such as toluene, methanol, and ethanol. The oligopeptide receptor shows the sensitivity down to 1.8 ppm against the DNT. Our sensor system can be used for the direct detection of antipersonnel plastic mines for which the conventional approaches such as metal detector and ground penetrating radar (GPR) have difficulties.

This paper deals with the crack propagation life assessment of T-joint welded structure where typical fatigue cracks have been frequently initiated when the marine vessels experience the storm load. Welding residual stresses are calculated to investigate its effects on the fatigue life. Thereafter the residual stress distribution was applied to the AFGROW life prediction program, which incorporated the loading, the welding residual stress, and the geometric shape of the structure. The fatigue tests of the T-joint welded specimen under storm loading show the beach mark clearly generated on the fractured section of the weldment. The crack propagation life estimated based on the beach mark is compared with that of AFGROW to validate the life prediction. Based on the results, the evaluation method of the remaining fatigue life for T-joint fillet weldment of marine vessel's cargo hold with random load or storm load was established.

The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of intraocular pressure control in glaucoma implants through simulation. The intraocular pressure was confirmed after the creation of an eye analysis model forming a normal intraocular pressure (10mmHg). By correcting the discharge conditions that can cause intraocular pressure to rise due to trabecular strain abnormalities, the pressure inside the eyeball at the time of glaucoma (25mmHg or more) was confirmed. An analytical model with a glaucoma implant mounted on the elevated eyeball was created to confirm the effect of reducing intraocular pressure. Analysis of the model"s analytical data confirmed the effectiveness of intraocular pressure control for glaucoma implants.

본 논문에서는 새로운 형태의 실감형 보드게임환경과 사용자에게 필요한 게임 전략을 제공하여 줄 수 있는 PGA(portable game assistant)를 제안한다. 기존의 실감형 보드게임 제작은 바둑게임 말의 위치를 인식하기 위하여 고가의 RFID 기술을 사용하고, 게임의 화면을 제공하기 위하여 증강현실이나 가상현실을 이용한다. 하지만 RFID 기술은 고가이며, 증강현실과 가상현실은 실제감을 주기는 하지만 데이터글러브, 전자펜, HMD 등의 보조 장치를 필요로 하고 이러한 장비는 고가이며, 사용 시 불편하다는 단점이 있다. 본 시스템에서는 게임 화면에 동적이고 화려한 그래픽을 지원하기 위하여 모니터를 사용하며, 바둑게임의 말을 컴퓨터 비젼 기술을 사용하여 인식한다. 또한 모바일을 사용하여 사용자의 조작에 의해 쉽게 전략을 짤 수 있는 PGA를 제공한다. PGA를 통하여 전체적인 게임 진행상황과 앞으로의 전략적인 계획을 세워줌으로써 사용자에게 게임의 습득 속도와 재미를 더욱 충족시켜 주는 것을 목적으로 한다. In this paper, we propose a new paradigm of augmented reality board game environment and a portable game assistant(PGA) which can help gamers with strategy information. Previous AR board games consist of a private and public space. The public space provides rules of the game and shows the scene of game. And the gamers control game pieces in the public space. The previous games use the RFIDs for recognizing positions of the pieces, and the VR/AR environment for providing the scene of the game. However the RFIDs are expansive, and the VR/AR environment is inconvenient because it uses additional devices: the DataGlove, the digital pen, and the HMD. The proposed system recognizes positions of real pieces using the computer vision technique, and uses a monitor to provide dynamic effects. In the private space, previous systems provide entire screen of game and position of specific pieces, but cannot be controled the pieces by gamers. Therefore, in this system, we provide PGA that helps the user to plan of the strategy individually using universally mobile. The PGA helps to plan the strategy in the individual area, and to play easily in the side of the user's convenience.

The fatigue damages in structural details of offshore plants can be accumulated due to various environmental loadings such as swell, wave, wind and current. It is known that load histories acting on mooring and riser systems show stationary and ergodic bimodal wide-banded process. This paper provides refined approach to obtain time signals representing stress range histories from wide-banded bimodal spectrum which consists of ideally narrow-banded and fully separated two spectrums. Variations of the probabilistic characteristics for time signals according to frequency and sampling time increments are compared with the reference data to be the probabilistic characteristics such as zero-crossing period, peak period, and irregularity factor obtained from an assumed ideal spectrum. It is proved that the sampling time increment more affects on the probabilistic characteristics than frequency increment. The fatigue damages according to the frequency and sampling time increments are also compared with the ones with minimum increment condition which are thought to be exact fatigue damage. It is concluded that the maximum sampling time increment to obtain reliable time signals should be determined that ratio of applied maximum sampling time increment and minimum period is less than approximately 0.08.
