Prevalence of Babesia spp. in dogs of Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, South Korea

Cases of canine babesiosis may present with a wide variation of severity of clinical signs, ranging from a hyper-acute, shock-associated, hemolytic crisis to an inapparent, subclinical infection. Dogs typically present with the acute form of babesiosis, which is characterized by general findings such as pyrexia, weakness, mucous membrane pallor, depression, hemorrhagic anemia. This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of Babesia spp. infection in dogs of Seogwipo-si. A survey of canine Babesia spp. infections among 173 dogs in Seogwipo-si was performed from July 2008 to August 2008, taking a blood sample from dogs raised outdoors through cephalic vein and jugular vein. And Babesia spp. was diagnosed by examination of blood smear stained with Giemsa stain. Of 173 dogs, 9 dogs (5.2%) were infected with the Babesia spp. This result was a little lower than the prevalence of Babesia spp. in dogs of other areas.

Instream flow is necessary to manage the basic function of the rivers. The evaluation method of instream flow in a big river has been studied widely, However, the study in a small river hasn't researched. In theses days the environmental function of a river becomes very important. The evaluation method and secure of instream flow are basic conditions to perform it. Especially view of stream, recreation, protection of ecology are highly demanded in a urban according to the multipurpose of river spaces. Methods for determining the instream flow in the stream were explored and examined through careful reviews and evaluations of available literatures. Development of the instream flow estimation method is based on the reviewed results and methods which can be used within the acceptable levels.

This paper provides background and summary information for recent machine parametric studies and the analysis of rotating shaft design on IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) in EV (Electric Vehicle). Also, This research deals with the natural frequency and mode shape of rotating shaft of Interior Permanent Magnet Motor with bearing stiffness by FEA (Finite Element Analysis) S/W. We present the natural frequency characteristic variation of rotating shaft according to change bearing stiffness and operation speed condition. Presented design method will apply to the IPM motor design to be simple, compact and effective design for IPM motor in EV.

In order to provide basic information for the estimation of reference crop evapotranspiration in the greenhouse, an lysimeter experiment was performed. Kenturky Blue Grass was used as a reference crop. Relationships between measured reference crop evapotranspiration and weather factors were analyzed. A multi-regression model was developed and tested.

농촌용수 이용량은 크게 논관개량, 밭관개량, 그리고 축산용수로 구분되나 농업용수의 대부분인 논 관개에서의 사용되는 양이 83%가 된다. 농업용수 이용량 산정을 위한 기초 자료는 "작물소비수량 산정 방법 정립 연구"이후에 전국적으로 조사가 이루어진 바가 거의 없으므로 전국적인 측정망을 구축하여 지속적인 이용량 측정으로 국가 수자원의 중추적인 역할을 하는 농업용수의 이용량 산정이 확립될 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 이에 농업용 수로의 유속측정과 수위 유량관계를 분석하므로써 실제 농업용수 이용량을 산정할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 본 유속측정은 농어촌연구원에서 시험지구로 운영하고 있는 경기도 용인의 이동저수지 중심로 용수로의 유속측정을 실시하였으며 유속측정은 용수로의 수위별 유속측정을 하였으며 수위에 따른 유량관계를 분석하였다. 유속측정지점은 3개 저수지의 용수공급 시점부인 이동, 용덕, 미산저수지의 용수로의 유속측정과 수위-유량관계를 산정하였으며 개수로의 대표적인 유량산정식인 manning식과 비교하고 적정 유량산정식을 도출하였다. 향후, 각 저수지의 공급량 산정을 위해 시점부 용수로에서의 실제 유속측정 1회 이상으로 측정하여 유량을 계산하고 적정 유량산정식에 적용하여 농업용수 이용량을 산정할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
