Purpose: Adipocytokines, such as leptin, resistin, and adiponectin, are associated with obesity and breast cancer. Several studies have indicated that adipocytokines may influence tumor growth or differentiation. The aims of this study were to determine the expression of leptin, leptin receptor (ObR), adiponectin and adiponectin receptor (AdipoR) in human breast cancer, to evaluate their prognostic significance in the breast cancer. Methods: Specimens from 198 patients with primary breast cancer were enrolled, and representative paraffin tumor blocks were selected for constructing tissue microarrarys (TMA). Immunohistochemical staining for leptin, ObR, adiponectin, and AdipoR was performed using TMA, and the clinicopathologic characteristics were evaluated from the patient’s medical records. Results: Stage 0 breast cancer accounted for 41 cases, and 157 cases were invasive cancer. Positive rates of leptin and ObR expression in the ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) group were significantly higher than those of the invasive cancer group (97.4% vs. 34.0%, p<0.001; 74.4% vs. 29.8%, p<0.001). However, positive rates of adiponectin and AdipoR expression in the invasive cancer group were significantly higher than those in the DCIS group (53.7% vs. 33.3%, p=0.024; 59.9% vs. 26.3%, p<0.001). High leptin expression was significantly associated with high Ki-67 expression (p=0.016). High adiponectin expression was significantly correlated with smaller tumor size (p=0.001). Conclusion: We suggest that losses of leptin and ObR expression could be associated with invasive cancer, whereas high adiponectin and AdipoR expression may be associated with breast cancer invasiveness.
Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma of the Male Breast Causing Diagnostic Challenges

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the breast are uncommon and often present diagnostic challenges. Herein, we report a case of the undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma occurring in the male breast. A 76-year-old man presented with a palpable bean-sized mass in his left breast for two months. Core needle biopsy revealed the presence of atypical cells in a fibrous proliferative lesion, which was removed by wide excision. Based on examination of the excised tumor, the initial pathologic diagnosis was atypical spindle cell lesion with uncertain malignant potential. One year later, the patient returned with a recurrent mass at the previous surgical site. The mass was again surgically removed using wide excision. Based on histological findings with immunomarkers, the final diagnosis was undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the breast can cause genuine diagnostic difficulty and appropriate immunohistochemistry is mandatory for differential diagnosis.
방사광 위상차 현미경을 이용한 여성 유방 조직의 미세 구조 영상

Purpose: X-ray microscopy with synchrotron radiation might be a useful tool for novel x-ray imaging in the clinical and laboratory settings. This technique provides detailed images of internal structures non-invasively. It also has the potential to resolve some of the limitations of conventional breast imaging. We evaluated high resolution synchrotron imaging of breast tissues from normal breasts and breasts with fibroadenomas and cancer. Methods: A new x-ray microscope was installed on the 1B2 beamline of a Pohang Light Source, at a third generation synchrotron radiation facility in Pohang, Korea. The phase contrast x-ray energy was set at 6.95 keV and the x-ray beam was monochromatized by a W/B4C monochromator. Formalin-fixed or unfixed female breast tissue from normal breast as well as breasts with fibroadenomas and carcinoma were attached onto the Kapton film. The sample was positioned 25 m away from the beam source. The x-ray image of the sample was converted into a visual image on the CsI(TI) scintillation crystal, and magnified 20 times by the microscopic objective lens. After an additional 10 fold digital magnification, this visual image was captured by a full frame CCD camera. Results: The monochromated x-ray microscopic images of female breast tissue from normal breast, fibroadenoma and carcinoma cases were evaluated. The total magnifying power of the microscope was 200 x. This synchrotron radiation imaging enabled us to observe detailed structures of breast tissue without sample preparation such as staining or fixation. Conclusions: Using monochromated synchrotron radiation, the x-ray microscopic images of the normal breast and breasts with fibroadenomas and cancer were obtained. From the images obtained, the x-ray microscopic imaging of breast tissue with synchrotron radiation appears to have great potential for clinical and research purposes such as oncology studies, early detection of cancer and as an aide to the pathological diagnosis in the future.

On November 7, 2021, the Law on Deoligarchization came into force. Since President Zelensky's remarks about the Law on Deoligarchization, Ukrainian society has plunged into controversy. Various opinions have been presented as to who the oligarchy is, whether the president is politically retaliatory, and whether the Law on Deoligarchization can be successful. Due to Russia's all-out invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the Law on Deoligarchization seemed to have to be pushed away from the main task of state affairs, but some oligarchs' co-operation with Russia has led to steady progress with the support of the people. As Ukraine obtained the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union on June 23, 2022, Ukraine is in a position to put more weight on the task of eradicating corruption and reforming its economic structure. In this paper, the main contents of the Law on Deoligarchization, the background of the law's enactment, the controversy surrounding the law are briefly summarized.
Clinical Validation of a Protein Biomarker Panel for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

We validated the diagnostic performance of a previously developed blood-based 7-protein biomarker panel, AptoDetect™-Lung (Aptamer Sciences Inc., Pohang, Korea) using modified aptamer-based proteomic technology for lung cancer detection. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), 200 patients and benign nodule controls, 200 participants were enrolled. In a high-risk population corresponding to ≥ 55 years of age and ≥ 30 pack-years, the diagnostic performance was improved, showing 73.3% sensitivity and 90.5% specificity with an area under the curve of 0.88. AptoDetect™-Lung (Aptamer Sciences Inc.) offers the best validated performance to discriminate NSCLC from benign nodule controls in a high-risk population and could play a complementary role in lung cancer screening.

As air quality decreases due to air pollution and lifestyle changes of modern people, the demand for products using plants such as plants or Planterior is increasing. However, it is not easy to grow plants due to insufficient leisure time and the lack of related knowledge. Existing systems are limited to installation sites or burdened with replacement battery because they are only supported by wired connections or powered by batteries. In this paper, we propose a smart pot that can support automatic watering and automatic charging to grow plants easily. The proposed smart flowerpot can track sunlight based on a light sensor. It also supports a self-charging function using a solar panel. In addition, it has a mobile app that shows the status by collecting data of the flowerpot. In addition, by supporting an intuitive interface through various status graphs and emotion icons, it can serve as a companion plant or a pet plant by supporting user convenience and usability. 대기오염에 따른 공기 질 저하와 현대인들의 생활습관이 변화됨에 따라 반려 식물 혹은 플랜테리어 등 식물을 활용한 제품의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 부족한 여가시간 및 관련 지식 부족으로 식물을 기르기 쉽지 않다. 기존 시스템의 경우 유선연결만을 지원하거나 건전지를 통해 전원을 공급받기 때문에 설치 장소에 한정적이거나 교체에 대한 부담이 컸다. 본 논문에서는 식물을 쉽게 기를 수 있도록 자동 급수 및 자동 충전을 지원하며 모니터링이 가능한 스마트 화분을 제안한다. 제안하는 스마트 화분은 조도 센서를 기반으로 태양광을 추적하여 태양광 패널을 이용한 자가 충전기능과 화분의 데이터를 수집하여 상태를 보여주는 모바일 앱을 지원한다. 또한 다양한 상태 그래프와 감정 아이콘 등을 통한 직관적 인터페이스를 지원하여 사용자의 편의성 및 사용성을 지원하여 반려 식물 또는 애완 식물의 역할을 할 수 있도록 한다.
