This paper will examine a comparative study between Yi Sang’s 1939 work Kim Yu Jeong, and Ahn, Hoenam’s Gyumheo-Kim Yu Jeong Jeon, also published in 1939 after the deaths of Yi Sang and Kim Yu Jeong. These two works have a similar subject chosen literary friend, Kim Yu Jeong, but they show different aspects of the character. In addition, each of them follows a different descriptive method. Yi Sang wrote it using a naturalistic method like Emile Zola’s experimental technique in his novels, while Ahn followed a biographical method originated in early China, used for recording history. From these points of view, we can find out the differences in their writing techniques. Yi Sang challenged a radical experimental technique in Western literary style through realistic descriptions, much like the camera challenged scientific method, while Ahn followed a Korean traditional ‘Jeon’. However, both of them had the same goals in that they tried to describe the character in detail. In these respects we can conclude that Yi Sang was the more innovative writer.

This paper is aimed at studying, and rectifying misunderstandings, of J. D. Salinger's works in the light of his daughter Margaret A. Salinger’s Dream Catcher: A Memoir. Salinger pursued Oriental ideas including Zen Buddhism and Vedanta theory. He studied and practiced Orientalism and Zen at the American Zen Center in the 1940s. Since Salinger lived a secret life for a long time without relationships with his family and others, we have had to read his works themselves without considering his biography. However, Margaret’s Memoir sheds light on the mystery of Salinger's writings and gives acute psychological insights to researchers. Through her Memoir, she makes readers reconsider Salinger’s works. Accordingly, her memoir has become one of the best books to reignite Salinger criticism. Thanks to this book, we can understand the Salinger myth in the papers published from the past until now, and studying his works can be vivid and strong again like in the 1960s. This new interest has been, called, “the second Salinger Industry.”

모바일을 활용한 영어교육연구: 만족도에 영향을 주는 요소분석

이 연구의 목적은 모바일을 이용한 영어 학습자들의 만족도에 개인적, 문화적, 사회적 자본 요소가 어떤 영향을 주는 가를 분석하고자 한다. 이 자료는 향 후 모바일영어교육 커리큘럼 개발에 활용하기 위함이다. 이 연구의 정확성을 위해서, SPSS 21, 크론바크 알파와 회귀분석을 시행했다. 그 결과 정보기술능력(IT ability competence), 상호교환(reciprocal exchanges), 결속력(bounded solidarity) 그리고 성역할(masculinity and feminity) 등의 변인요소가 모발일 활용한 영어학습자들의 만족도에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 향 후 연구에서는 광범위한 대상보다는 좁은 범위의 대상에 대한 자료조사가 이루어지기를 기대한다. The research is aimed at finding out the satisfaction of learners using mobile phones to study English by analyzing the impact of personal, cultural, and social capital factors. We have a next plan to develop a mobile curriculum using the results from this study. For making this research accurate, SPSS 21, Cronbach’s alpha and linear regression were conducted. The results showed that four independent variables (IT ability competence, reciprocal exchanges, bounded solidarity and masculinity) are considered to affect learners’ satisfactions. Instead of the broad targets like this study, researching on the more specific targets is expected in the future.

서구 모더니즘 관점에서 본 「쥬피타의 追放-이상의 영전에 바침」

This paper is aimed at examining Kim Kirim’s “The Banished Jupiter as the Elegy to Yi Sang’s Death.” In the poem he described Yi Sang as Jupiter transformed from Greek’s Zeus to Roman Jupiter. He also intended to reveal some negative aspects of the imperial countries such as England, America, and other Western countries. As he wrote this poem, Kim used the method of “mythic narrative” like Joyce’s Ulyssess and T. S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land”. In fact Eliot named the method of Joyce’s Ulyssess as ‘mythic narrative.’ After Eliot read it he said that this work had been written in the mythic narrative. Accordingly we can say Kim also wrote “The Banish of Jupiter as the Elegy to Yi Sang’s Death” in Joyce-Eliot mythic narrative.

효과적인 학습을 위한 ESP 커리큘럼에 관한 연구 -영어유치원 교사양성-

본 연구는 17명의 영어 유치원 교사들과 5명의 예비 영어교사들(3학년 재학생들)을 대상으로 한 인터뷰를 바탕으로 요구분석을 하고, 이를 토대로 학습효과를 제고하기 위해 ESP 학습기반의 커리큘럼을 개발하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 질적 연구방법으로 수행되었으며, 전남 D대학 관련학과의 커리큘럼을 분석하고 문제점을 찾아보았다: 기존의 커리큘럼은 상당부분 EGP학습기반으로 구성되어 있어 현장에서 요구하는 유아나 어린이를 교육할 수 있는 커리큘럼과는 거리가 있었다. 결론적으로 학습자들의 경쟁력을 갖추기 위해서는 ESP학습기반의 커리큘럼 개발이 필요하다. 이 연구는 신·구 커리큘럼 간의 비교연구를 할 수 없는 제한적 요소가 있으므로, 향후엔 커리큘럼 간의 비교연구가 있기를 기대한다. In order to increase the effectiveness of English learning, this study is aimed at creating an ESP curriculum based on the requirement analyses, which were gathered from the interviews to 17 preschool English teachers and 5 pre-English teachers (junior students). This study has been proceeded through qualitative research, and the curriculum related with the above department at D university in Jeonnam have been analyzed and some problems revealed: the established curriculum was based on most part of EGP, which means that there are quite distances between the requirement analyses and the existing curriculum. Conclusionally, so as to increase students’ competitiveness, creating the ESP-based curriculum is needed. This study has some limitations, that is, we cannot compare the two curriculums, so later studying on comparing 2 curriculums is being expected.

방과 후 영어 교사의 자기효능감이 학습자들에게 미치는 영향

이 연구는 교사의 자기효능감이 학생들에게 직간접적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 기반에서 설문과 함께 인터뷰를 실시하는 질적 연구를 수행했다. 이 실험에서는 거의 모든 의사결정을 학생들이 했고, 학습전략 수립 시에도 그들의 의견이 존중되었다. 따라서 학생들은 적극적으로 학습 목표에 도전하였고 동기부여 되었다. 학생들의 학습활동은 스스로 만들어 가도록 했고, 교사는 단지 도와주는 역할만을 했다. 그 결과 학생들의 자율성이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 자신감이 없는 학생에게 교사의 경험담이나 공감하는 등의 노력하는 자세에 힘입어 학생들은 짧은 대화나마 의사소통을 시도해보려는 의지를 나타냈다. 이와 같은 긍정적인 측면에도 불구하고, 이 연구의 실험 대상이 제한적이라는 점과 짧은 기간 동안 진행되었다는 한계가 있다. 향후엔 실험 대상을 더 늘리고 장기간의 연구를 진행함으로써 좀 더 객관적인 결과를 도출하여 영어 교육 발전에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다. This study has been carried out as qualitative research with questionnaires and interviews, on the basis that teachers’ self-efficacy can influence the students directly or indirectly. In this study, the students made almost all decisions, and their ideas in planning study strategies were respected. Accordingly, the students challenged actively to accomplish the goals of lesson, and they were motivated. The students’ activities were intended to be carried by themselves, and the teacher was there just as a helper. This was resulted in increasing the students’ autonomy. Thanks to the teacher’s attitudes such as talking experiences or expressing sympathies to the students lack of confidence, they tried to communicate using even short conversations. However, even though there have been positive results, this study has still some limitation such as small number of students and short term period of experiment. Hopefully next study will have more students and long term period of experiment, and the results will be able to show objectivity to be contributed to the development of English education.
