유배양육일기 『양아록(養兒錄)』의 교육적 의미

본 연구에서는 유배라는 독특한 시공간적 의미와 격대교육의 틀을 통해 이문건의 유배양육일기 『양아록』에 나타난 교육적 의미를 탐색해 보았다. 『양아록』은 경상북도 성주의 유배지에서 할아버지가 손자의 성장 과정을 일기 형식으로 기록한 특이한 양육보고서다. 거기에는 유배라는 독특하고 절박한 상황 속에서 할아버지가 손자에게 기대하는 가계 계승의 특별한 의지를 바탕으로 교육의 의미가 잘 정리되어 있다. 특히 ‘효’를 바탕으로 ‘충’과 ‘신’을 실천, 입신양명하길 바라는 조선시대 사대부 가정의 교육구조가 잘 드러나고 있어 『양아록』의 교육적 의미가 크다고 할 수 있다. This study examines the meaning of educational history which appears in “Yang-Ah-Rok(養兒錄)”, written by Lee Mun-geon(李文楗), from the view of exile a unique meaning of space time and Education by Grandparents. “Yang-Ah-Rok” is an interesting nurturing-diary report which a grandfather recorded a process of his grandchild's growth in the form of diary. In this report, the meaning of education based on the special will of the succession of the family in the desolate circumstances, exile, was well-organized. Especially, a educational meaning of the book is definitely significant due to a structure of education in loyal family in the Joseon Dynasty period in which loyalty and credence were worshiped based on filial duty, hoping to achieve fame and prestige.

세종조 도서보급 정책이 제주교육에 미친 영향

본 연구는 세종17년(1435) 9월21일, 제주도에 대한 도서 特賜와 관련된 기록을 토대로 이러한 도서보급 정책이 제주도에서는 어떤 내용으로 그리고 어떻게 전개되었는지 구명함으로써 그것이 궁극적으로는 조선조 제주교육에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 결국 세종조의 제주도에 대한 도서보급 정책을 계기로 제주도의 향교에도 교육에 필요한 도서를 갖추게 되었음은 물론 이를 계기로 체제정비 차원에서 성리학적 국가교학이념이 정책적으로 강제됨으로써 제주교육이 중앙중심의 교육구조에 철저히 편입되고 객체화될 수 있게 된다. This research clarifies the influence of books spread policy on Jeju education under the region of King Sejong by looking into the contents and process of development of the policy through related records of a special grant of books to Jeju island, on Sep. 21, 1435. Eventually the books spread policy was an opportunity for the strategic spread of the idea of national education related to Sungri Philosophy which originates from Juja, and Jeju󰡑s local education could be completely incorporated into centralized national education structure and objectified.

동계(桐溪) 정온(鄭蘊) 서원배향(書院配享)의 제주교육사적 의미

제주도에서 동계 정온이 주력했던 자기교육활동에 대한 가장 구체적인 성과는 후일 귤림서원 배향으로 나타난다. 정온은 척화파로서의 삶을 살았고 이를 계기로 제주도 귤림서원에 배향이 되면서 경의지학이라는 남명학파의 유서라는 차원에서 자신의 교육사상을 제주도에도 계승시키는 결정적인 역할을 하게 된다. 서원 배향은 곧 “서원에 가면 엄연히 그 사람을 보는 듯(入其堂儼然若見其人)”하여 후세대들로 하여금 그들처럼 되도록 감발흥기(感發興起)케 하는 교육적 동기를 갖고 있는 중요한 행사이다. 따라서 제주도 귤림서원 배향을 통해 정온은 200여 년간 제주도 교육의 큰 스승(經史大師)으로서 역할을 할 수 있었으며 이를 계기로 무엇보다 제주도에서도 남명학파의 유서라는 차원에서 “경”과 “의”에 투철하고, 학문적 실천에 엄격했던 교육사상을 계승시키는 역할을 할 수 있었다. Donggye(桐溪) Jungon(鄭蘊) is a government official in the late Chosun Dynasty who contributed to the development of confucian education in Jeju. While exiled to Jeju, he engaged in various teaching activities including the making of various confucian reading and study groups. In fact, it is his enshrinement to Gyulim Suhwon(橘林書院) that played the most important role in Jeju’s confucian education. During the Manchu war of 1636, Jungon opposed to the reconciliation with Manchurians. He at last attempted to kill himself as Chosun made a peace agreement with Manchurians. Jungon was enshrined in Gyulim Suhwon, one of the major confucian memorial and lecture hall in Jeju, for this patriotic sentiment. Honoring a distinguished person at Suhwon is an important educational event in Confucianism. It is because the event inspires students to learn after the deeds of a great person. By enshrined in Gyulim Suhwon, Jungon had presented a model for confucian education in Jeju for more than 200 years. As a result, Jeju people could inherit the history of Namyung Confucian School((南冥學派).

朝鮮後期 濟州敎育에 끼친 斥邪論議의 影響과 그 意義에 關한 硏究

朝鮮後期의 대외적 도전에 대하여 조선조의 통치이념으로서의 정통성리학의 문맥에서 조선조 정치체제의 보위를 주장한 대표적인 사상이 바로 斥邪衛正思想이다. 척사위정은 면암 최익현의 유배교학활동과 안달삼과 같은 제주도 사람들의 직접수업을 통한 기정진과의 만남에 의해 제주도에 전수된다. 면암의 순국은 제주도에서 의병운동을 본격적적으로 점화시키는 결정적 동기가 된다. 제주유림들은 集義契라는 비밀결사를 만들어 항일의 의지를 불태웠는가하면 전라도 장성에서 의병을 일으킨 기정진의 손자 寄宇萬, 寄參衍과 연계하여 의병운동을 일으킴으로써 조선후기 척사논의의 영향과 의의를 보여준다. 조선후기 척사위정사상의 영향으로 제주교육의 독특한 주체적 역량을 강화하는 계기가 된다. 이러한 영향은 제주도의 조천만세운동으로 이어지며 나아가 일제시대의 다양한 제주도 민족교육운동으로 재현됨으로써 제주교육의 면모를 새롭게 드러낸다. Chuksa Wijung is one of the rep.resentative ideologies that addressed the preservation of Chosun's political system against the outer challenges at the end of the dynasty on the context of the orthodox Sung Confucianism. The ideology was bequeathed by the educational activity of Choi Ik Hyun on his exile and the encounter with Ki Jung Jin through the class held by the local Jeju peop.le such as An Dal Sam. The patriotic death of Choi Ik Hyun provided Jeju p.eop.le with a decisive motivation to initiate the local movement of patriotic armies. For example, the local Confucianists created a secret association called 'Jip. Yi Kye' to fight against the Japanese occupation. Furthermore, they raised the army with the close connection with Ki Wu Man and Ki Sam Yun, the grandsons of Ki Jung Jin, who were also associated with the same movement in Jangsung, Junra province. These activities clearly indicate the influence and significance of the Chuksa argument at the end of the Chosun Dynasty. Influenced by the Chuksa ideology, Jeju's education could reinforce its independent capability. The influence was later succeeded to the cheering movement of Chochun and other ethnic education movements under the Japanese occupation and this reveals the new aspect of Jeju's education.

제주근대교육에 미친 유배인의 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구는 개화기 제주근대교육이 전개되는 과정에서 제주에 유배되었던 개화파 유배인들이 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는지 고찰해 보았다. 온건개화파 김윤식과 급진개화파 박영효, 애국교육운동가 이승훈, 그리고 이세직의 활동을 살펴보았다. 근대의 제주유배인들은 당대의 변화 때문에 누구보다 근대교육의 필요성을 인식한 사람들이었다. 제주의 경우는 지역적으로 멀고, 경제적으로 빈곤하였기 때문에 근대교육의 제도적 기틀 마련이 매우 어려웠는데 근대교육의 필요성을 인식하고 있던 그들 개화 유배인들의 내도는 그 자체가 큰 영향력일 수 밖에 없었다. 그들은 자신들의 역량을 십분 발휘하여 제주근대교육 확산에 기여한다. 김윤식은 제주인들과의 담론형성을 통해 제주인들에게 개화사상을 전파하였으며, 박영효와 이승훈은 개화사상 전파는 물론 금전적 영향으로 제주의 근대교육기관 설립에 도움을 준다. 더불어 유배인 이세직은 일본어를 직접 가르치는데 이는 제주도에서 실시한 최초의 외국어 교육이라 볼 수 있다. 이들의 다양한 교육적 활동은 제주도 근대교육 개안의 원동력이 되었다. This study examined how exile have influenced on Jeju when they had been exiled to Jeju during the time of enlightment. Especially, the study is about Kim Yoon Sik in a school of moderate enlightment, Park Young Hyo in a school of radical enlightment, patriot Lee Seung Hun, and Lee Se Jik. People who were exiled to Jeju got to know more about an importance of modern education than any other people. In case of Jeju, it was too difficult to build a basement of modern education because of geographical reason and poverty. Therefore, people who were exile to Jeju had great impact on Jeju because they had already known the importance of modern education. They used their ability and contributed to the spread of modern education in Jeju. Kim Yoon Sik spread the thought of enlightment to Jeju through making discourse. Park Young Hyo and Lee Seung Hoon helped not only the spread of enlightment but also, establishment of modern education institutions. Moreover, Lee Se Jik taught Japanese in Jeju, and it was the first foreign language teaching. A variety of education activities became an opportunity to develop the quality of modern education in Jeju.
