Mesothelioma originates in several sites including the pleura, peritoneum, pericardium, and tunica vaginalis. The pleura is the most common site of origin, but cases originating in the peritoneum is relatively rare. Mesothelial lesions of the peritoneum may pose significant diagnostic problems. Yet, the accurate identification of this lesion is important because of its distinctive behavior and treatment modality. We herein report a case of malignant mesothelioma of the peritoneum arising in the capsule of the liver. The accuracy of our diagnosis has been confirmed by the immunohistochemical study and electron microscopic examination.
Completely Isolated Enteric Duplication Cyst Presenting as an Inguinal Hernia
설혜정,이정의,김종옥,김세준 대한병리학회 2010 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.44 No.2
Enteric duplication cysts are uncommon congenital anomalies whose embryogenesis remains unknown. We report here on an isolated enteric duplication cyst, that presents as an inguinal hernia. A 21-year-old woman was admitted with a month-long history of a palpable mass in the left groin. Radiologically, a computed tomography scan revealed a 3.5 × 2.5 cm sized cystic mass in subcutaneous layers of the left suprapubic area. Microscopically, the cystic wall resembled gut wall. The wall was composed of two distinct muscle layers with the presence of Auerbach’ plexus. On examining the entire sections of the cyst wall very carefully, no epithelial lining was found on the inner surface. The submucosa was slightly fibrotic. The diagnosis was a completely isolated enteric duplication cyst.

Background : The purpose of this study was to elucidate whether or not splenectomy alters the acute toxic effects on rat tissue induced by barium sulfate. Methods : A total of 80 Sprague- Dawely male rats were divided into three groups; the control group and the barium sulfate treated groups with and without splenectomy. The pathologic changes in the solid organs were examined at the time after intraperitoneal treatment with barium sulfate. The changes of white blood cell count were also examined. Results : The barium induced toxicity was most prominent in the spleen. The changes in the other organs were proportional to the experimental duration, and the changes in the barium only treatment group were more severe than the observed changes in the splenectomy and barium treated group. Conclusions : These results suggest that the degree of barium toxicity of barium only treated group was more severe than that of the splenectomy group.

The purpose of this study is to examine the stressful matters in the relations of nursery teachers and their disposing methods and to suggest a proper way to dispose and reduce the stressful matters in fields. The subjects of this study are 30 teachers all, 15 kindergarten teachers and 15 nursery teachers in Seoul, Kyounggi district, The examination is carried out in the working fields by collecting and analyzing the data with interview personally. The examination has two stages. At first stage, the examination is carried out by interviewing the teachers in kindergartens and nurseries in Seoul, and Kyuonggi district, so that the factors to yield stress at work are analyzed and classified into 7 factors(marriage, age, scholarship, personality, thoughts and methods for teaching, and personal relations). At the second stage, the examination for the factors and disposing methods for the stress is carried out by interview. The summarized results are as follows; 1. stress from works with co-working teachers 1) stress from works with co-working teachers concerned with marriage (1) when not take full responsibility for their work (2) when married teachers fell the lack of time (3) when not take full responsibility for their work because of preparing marriage 2) stress from age (1) when feeling about the competition to other teachers of their age (2) when treated rudely by younger teachers (3) when ordered personally by older teachers (4) when does not have cooperation with other older teachers (5) when heard that they are just young 3) stress from career with other teachers (1) when other teachers advertised their career and do not cooperate (2) when other teachers with more careers just order to them or speak rudely (3) when other teachers with more careers shows idleness at work. (4) when they are not given works to do because of their younger age (5) when they are not fully aware of the fields about their teaching matters. (6) when given the works of other teachers with more careers (7) when other teachers with less careers do not agree with them. 4) stress from scholarship with other teachers (1) when other teachers feel burden about my scholarship (2) when other teachers behave in a lordly manner. (3) when disregarded by others because of their different major. (4) when they feel about lack of knowledge on the fields for teaching. 5) stress from personality (1) when unable to share their works with other teachers (2) when unable to get cooperation with other teachers (3) when having selfish personality (4) when comparing their classes to other classes (5) when the speed of working process is not slow (6) when hasty (7) when put ahead on their claims before other teachers' claims (8) when likes to advertise their good points (9) when think of the public stuffs as theirs (10) when flatters in necessity (11) when unable to arrange things around (12) when not be careful about their speech (13) when criticize others in secret (14) when wants to make things perfect (15) when be a double-faced person 6) stress from different thoughts and methods for teaching (1) when persistent for their thoughts and methods for teaching 7) stress from personal relations (1) the stress from chief of the work (2) stress from the relations with parents (3) stress from teaching infants (4) stress from relations with other teachers 2. The disposing methods for the stress 1) active methods (1) work harder (2) make a plan for the solution of the problem due to the stress (3) do the work up alone (4) talk to the person of the prnblem directly (5) take the lead in doing the works (6) ask for help from other teachers (7) talk about the matters with other teachers 2) negative methods (1) just understand them (2) just agree with them (3) be careful about not conflict with them (4) just stand (5) not talk to them (6) disregard them (7) do self-reflections
Solitary Schwannoma of the Breast- A Case Report -
이정의,설혜정,박병전 대한병리학회 2005 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.39 No.1
Schwannomas arise from the neural crest-derived Schwann cells. Their most common locations are the extremities, neck, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, and cerebellopontine angle. They have rarely been reported to occur in the breast. We herein report on a case of schwannoma of the breast in a 30-year-old woman. The ultrasonographic examination showed a well defined ovoid hypoechoic mass in the upper outer quadrant of her left breast. A presumptive diagnosis of fibroadenoma was made, and the mass was then removed. The histopathologic and immunohistochemical features confirmed the diagnosis of schwannoma of the breast.
HIF-1α Expression in BRAFV600E-Positive Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma
이정의,김군순,설혜정,이동호,이관주,송민호,조영석 대한갑상선학회 2011 International Journal of Thyroidology Vol.4 No.2
Background and Objectives: Recent studies have reported that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α are up-regulated in BRAF^(V600E)-positive papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). We investigated whether papillary thyroid microcarcinomas (PTMCs) also exhibited increased expression of VEGF and HIF-1α. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between BRAF^(V600E) mutation and clinicopathological parameters, as well as HIF-1α expression in PTMC. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively selected 225patients with PTMC. Immunohistochemical staining for HIF-1α and VEGF was performed using paraffinembedded PTMC tissue microarrays. BRAF^(V600E) mutation status was analyzed by dideoxy sequencing. Results:PTMCs larger than 0.5 cm tend to be related to aggressive clinicopathological features such as thyroid capsular invasion (p=0.023) and bilaterality (p=0.047). Immunoreactivity to HIF-1α (20.7%) and VEGF (30.2%) was more prominent in PTMCs as compared to normal follicular cells. However, HIF-1α and VEGF expression was not correlated with clinicopathological features. BRAF^(V600E) mutation was found in 70.7% (159/225) of the PTMC cases. PTMCs harboring the BRAF^(V600E) mutation exhibited larger tumor sizes as compared to PTMCs without the BRAF^(V600E) mutation (p=0.038). However, BRAF^(V600E) mutation status did not correlate with the expression of HIF-1α(p=0.623) or VEGF (p=0.990). Conclusion: HIF-1α and VEGF were more frequently detected in PTMCs as compared to normal thyroid tissues. However, BRAF^(V600E) mutation status was not correlated with the expression of HIF-1α or VEGF in PTMCs.
