A new malting barley variety, ‘Baegrok’, was developed in 2016 at the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA: Rural development administration by crossing the high-yield ‘Milyang130’ variety with ‘Myoginijo’, which has lodging tolerance and resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV). ‘Baegrok’ is suitable for use in brewing, similar to ‘Hopum’, and has resistance to powdery mildew and tolerance to lodging. From 2014 to 2016, regional yield trials were conducted in four different regions, with ‘Baegrok’ as a breeding line of ‘Iksan176’. The heading dates of ‘Baegrok’ in paddy and upland fields were April 6 and April 11, respectively, 2 days earlier than those of ‘Hopum’. Maturing dates of ‘Baegrok’ in paddy and upland fields were May 16 and May 21, respectively, similar to those of ‘Hopum’. The yield potential of ‘Baegrok’ was approximately 14% and 6% higher than that of ‘Hopum’ in upland and paddy fields. ‘Baegrok’ had a shorter culm length than ‘Hopum’ showing tolerance to lodging. Screening for powdery mildew resistance in the greenhouse showed that ‘Baegrok’ had resistance to powdery mildew, unlike ‘Hopum’ which was susceptible. It also is suitable for use in brewing, similar to Hopum. ‘Baegrok’ showed good grain quality in terms of β-glucan content (3.4%), starch (61.0%), and husk rate (12.7%). Regarding malt quality, ‘Baegrok’ exhibited 75.1% acrospire length, 70.8% friability, 4.4% soluble protein, and 345.8 WK (Windisch-Kolbach) diastatic power, superior to the malt quality of ‘Hopum’. Thus, ‘Baegrok’ is resistant to powdery mildew, tolerant to lodging, and more suitable for brewing. (Registration No. 8399)

Hordeum vulgare ‘Heukbochal’, a naked waxy barley cultivar with a high anthocyanin content and black lemma has been developedfrom a cross between ‘Ginssalbori/Changyongjaelae’ and ‘Ginssalbori’ by the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA. It is a winter-type barleywith a vernalization degree of Ⅳ, lax panicle with loose-type spike density, and long awn type. The average heading date of ‘Heukbochal’is April 19th, which is the same as that of the control cultivar ‘Saechalssalbori’. It has a long culm of 79 cm and a long spike length of7.0 cm, with 54 grains per spike and a 1000-grain weight of 30.4 g. Although compared with ‘Saechalssalbori’, ‘Heukbochal’ shows weakerwinter hardiness, it is characterized by better resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus. The grains of ‘Heukbochal’ showed a similar proteincontent (10.4%) to ‘Saechalssalbori’ but a lower beta-glucan content (5%) than that of ‘Saechalssalbori’. Furthermore, the grains of ‘Heukbochal’have an anthocyanin content of 0.116±0.005 mg/bran g, which is 1.9 times higher than that of ‘Heuknuri’ (0.062±0.007 mg/bran g), anothernon-waxy naked barley cultivar with a black lemma. Additionally, its average grain yield is 4.02 ton/ha in paddy fields, which is 5% lowerthan that of ‘Saechalssalbori’. ‘Heukbochal’ is the first developed naked waxy barley cultivar with a high anthocyanin content and blacklemma; therefore, we anticipate its cultivation in Korea (Registration No. 8194).

본 연구는 혈청 무첨가 단순배양액인 CR1이 체외에서 생산된 소 수정란의 체외 배발생에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 요약해보면, 1) 총 1250개의 체외성숙 난자로 부터 체외 수정결과 본 실험의 목적상 이용될 수 있는 1,025개 (82.0%)의 분할란 (>1세포기)을 얻을 수 있었으며, 체외배양 결과 배반포기와 부화율은 각각 27.1%와 20.2%였다. 2) CR1 배양액은 소난포란 (>1세포기)의 체외발생시 난관상피세포, 난구세포, 영양배엽세포 등의 체세포와 공동배양을 유도하지 않고서도 높은 배발생율을 얻을 수 있었으며, 이러한 결과로 미루어 볼때 CR1은 난자의 체외배양시 난자성장촉진 인자를 연구하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.
The Cytoskeletal and Chromosomal Constitution of Vitrified Immature Mouse Oocytes

연구목적: 본 연구는 동해방지제인 EFS40을 이용한 초자화동결이 생쥐 미성숙란의 cytoskeleton과 염색체의 성상에 미치는 영향을 indirect immunocytochemistry방법과 염색체 분석법으로 알아보고자 실시하였다. 연구재료 및 방법: 본 실험은 생쥐 미성숙란을 EFS40 (40% ethylene glycol, 18% ficou과 0.5 M sucrose가 들어있는 M2배양액)으로 초자화 동결하여 융해한 후 16시간동안 체외 성숙을 유도하여, 제 1극체가 나타난 성숙된 난자를 기준으로 동해제노출군 또는 대조군과 비교 조사하였다. 결과: 초자화동결된 미성숙란의 응해 후 생존율과 체외성숙율은 90.3%과 64.7%로써, 동해제노출군 (86.7%, 69.2%)과 대조군 (100%, 58.3%)에 유사하였다. 초자화동결이 미성숙란의 microtubule과 microfilament에 미치는 영향을 조사하였던 바, 동결군의 microtubule과 micro-filament의 정상적인 형성율 (93.9%, 100.0%)은 동해 제노출군 (94.4%, 100.0%)과 대조군 (100.0%, 100.0%)의 성적과 유사하게 나타났다. 또한, 초자화동결군에서 정상적인 염색체수를 가진 난자의 비율도 65.8%로써, 대조군(79.6%)과 노출군 (69.0%)의 결과와 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결론: 생쥐 미성숙란을 EFS40에 노출하고 동결하는 것이 미성숙란의 cytoskeleton과 염색체성상에 영향을 미치지 않으며, 본 연구에서 사용된 EFS40을 이용한 초자화동결법은 생쥐 미성숙란 동결에 적합하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. This study was to confirm whether the vitrification method using EFS40 freezing solution has detrimental effect on the cytoskeleton and chromosome constitution of the immature mouse oocytes by indirect immunocytochemistry and chromosome analysis. Immature mouse oocytes were vitrified using EFS40 (40% EG, 18% ficoll, 0.5 M sucrose diluted in M2 medium), thawed and then survived oocytes were in vitro matured for 16 hr. When the microtubule morphology and micro filament distribution in vitrified-thawed immature mouse oocytes were examined, normal percentage of two cytoskeleton in vitrified group (93.9 and 100.0%) was not significantly different from that in control (100.0 and 100.0%) and exposed group (94.4 and 100.0%). The rate of oocytes containing a normal chromosome number in vitrified group was 65.8%, this result was not significantly different from that in control (79.6%) and exposed group (69.0%). These results indicated that exposure to cryoprotectant or freezing has not effect on the alteration of cytoskeleton morphology and the chromosome constitution of mouse oocytes and that our vitrification methods using EFS40 freezing solution was suitable for the cryopreservation of immature mouse oocytes.
토끼의 난소 과자극증후군 유발에 미치는 내인성 Angiotensin 2의 작용 및 Angiotensin-converting Enzyme Inhibitor의 치료효과

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is most serious complication during ovulation induction. Although the incidence of this disease is increasing, the pathophysiology remains uncertain. Consensus is that main pathophysiology of the disease is increased vascular permeability, but the etiologic agent causing hyperpermeability is still unknown, Prostaglandin, histamine, angiotensin, some cytokines and growth factors have been suspected as etiologic agent. At present, angiotensin is mostly suspected agent of this disease. The purpose of this study is revealing etiologic role of angiotensin II in ovarian hyperstimulation and assessing the therapeutic or preventive effect of lowering angiotensin II by angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. After developing of ovarian hyperstimulation in rabbit, Captopril were administerd in study group. The correlations between angiotensin II and clinical parameters of severity of the disease such as ovarian volume, amount of ascites or changes of hematocrit were assessed. The correlations between angiotensin II and prostaglandin or estradiol were also assessed. The Microfil was perfused through the ovarian arteries and morphology of vascularities were revealed. The differences in ovarian volume, amount of ascites, changes of hematocrit, prostaglandin and estradiol were checked between study and control group. The parameters of severity of ovarian hyperstimulation were closely related with the level of angiotensin II. The levels of prostaglandin and estradiol were also positively correlated with the level of angiotensin II. The degree of neovascularization tended to be increased in control group, but the individual variations were existed. The parameters of severity of ovarian hyperstimulation were markedly improved in captopril group. From this data, we can conclude that angiotensin II is related with development of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor can prevent the development of this disease.
市販茶類製品의 Hunter - Lab Tristimulus Colorimeter에 의한 色相 評價

市販茶類嗜好食品의 官能的 評價와 이들 製品의 品質管理的 側面에서 중요시되는 色度의 指標를 조사코저 Hunter-lab tristimulus colormeter를 利用하여 製品의 粒度, 密度 및 脫吸濕이 色度에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.<br/> 1. 製品 사이에는 粒度의 크기와 色度에서 특별한 有意性이 인정되지 않았으며, 紅蔘精粉의 경우 粒度가 작아질수록 L,a,b 値가 증가하고, X,Y,Z 値에서는 X, Y 値는 증가하는 경향이었으나 Z 値는 일정치 않았다.<br/> 2. 市販茶類嗜好食品 L値 범위는 32.8~48.0이었고 a 値는 3.9~10.4, b 値는 5.6~18.0이었으며 대부분의 製品이 朱黃色色素系에 속하는 것으로 나타났다.<br/> 3. 製品의 密度는 0.232~0.898 g/ml의 범위 내에 있었으며 밀도가 클수록 L値가 가하는 경향이었다.<br/> 4. 製品別 a/b値는 생강차를 제외하고 0.61~0.98의 범위 내에 집중되어 있었으며 總色度의 差(ΔE) 및 彩色度의 差(ΔC)가 작은 製品일수록 色相의 安定性이 인정되었다.<br/> 5. 各製品 사이에는 吸濕 및 脫濕에 의한 色相變化는 유의성이 없었다.<br/> 6. 光波長에 따른 製品別 色度는 생강차, 쌍화차 및 탱이 綠赤色系色素가 가장 높아 綠赤色色素系인 반면 다른 茶類製品은 X,Y,Z 値가 거의 비슷한 경향을 나타냈다. To evaluate the quality of commercial dehydrated tea-products, the relationships between particle sizes, densities, moisture absorption & desorption and color appearance were studied by using Hunter-lab tristimulus colorimeter and spectrophotometer.<br/> Among the tea-products was held no significant relation between particle sizes and color appearance but red ginseng extract powder (RGEP) was included L,a and b values when was reduced particle size. appearance color of tea-products indicated red-orange color, L, a and b values were ranged 32.7 to 48.0, 4.0 to 10.0 and 5.6 to 18.0, respectively, densities of tea-products ranged 0.232 to 0.898 g/ml and increased L values, Hunter's a/b ratio values was included in 0.61 to 0.90.<br/> Color stability in this products was well agreed with decrease of total color difference value (ΔE) and chromaticity difference value (ΔC) of the Hunter-lab color data.
