The flowfield generated by a 2-D rotating cylinder on a plane moving at freestream velocity was experimentally investigated in a wind tunnel to simulate aerodynamic characteristics of rotating wheels of an automobile. In the flowfield around a rotating cylinder at 3*10$^{3}$ < Re$_{d}$<8*10$^{3}$, unique mean flow and turbulence characteristics were confirmed by hot-wire measurements as well as frequency analysis, which was supported by flow visualization. In the vicinity of a rotating cylinder, a unique turbulence structure on .root.over bar u'$^{2}$ profiles was formed in hump-like shape at 1 < y/d < 3. A peak frequency which characterized the effect of a rotating cylinder had the same value of the rotation rate of a cylinder. In case of cylinder rotation, the depths of mean velocity -defect and turbulent-shear regions were thickened by 20-40% at 0 < x/d < 10 compared with the case of cylinder stationary. Far downstream beyond x/d > 10, the flowfield generated by a rotating cylinder showed self-similarity in the profiles of mean velocity and turbulence quantities. The effect of a rotating cylinder was independent of its rotation rate and Reynolds number in the measurement range.

This paper is aimed at translating the whole of Poetic Tale on Going Pilgrimage for Buddhist Scripture of Tang Sanzang (大唐三藏取經詩話, here after Poetic Tale). This is a famous Vernacular novel during the Song Dynasty of China, but its creation time and processes are still unclear. Although the theory for the creation of the Song Dynasty are generally required, there are also theory for the creation of the Tang dynasty and the creation of the Won Dynasty. It is claimed to have a literary aspect similar to that of Bianwen. And from a linguistic point of view, there are all aspects of the language of the Tang dynasty, the Song Dynasty and the Won Dynasty. In short, the book has complex and transitional properties. For this reason, Poetic Tale has a very important literary and linguistic value. Research into this book can reveal the process of changing literary genres from Bianwen to pictorial novels. Studies of the book can also reveal changes in language during the Tang, Song and Won Dynasties. In particular, since the study of this book is incomplete in Korea, we expect this translation to be of great help to the study of this book in Korea. In addition, this translation is expected to help a lot in the study of A Journey to the West (西遊記) in the Chinese literary academic world of Korea.

In this study, pool boiling performance of Turbo/B-type metal-formed tubes was investigated. Tubes with three different cavity gap width(0.04 mm, 0.07 mm, 0.1 mm) were manufactured and tested using R-11, R-123 and R-134a. Tests were conducted at two different saturation temperatures $4.4^{\circ}C$ and $26.7^{\circ}C.$ Heat flux was varied from 10 kW/m2 to 50 kW/m2. It was found that optimum gap width varied for different refrigerants. For low-pressure refrigerants such as R-11 or R-123, optimum gap width was 0.07 mm. For high-pressure refrigerant R-134a, however, the optimum value was 0.1 mm. Compared with the heat transfer performance of the smooth tube, the metal-formed tubes enhanced the heat transfer coefficients significantly - 6.5 times for R-11, 6.0 times for R-123 and 5.0 times for R-134a (at $4.4^{\circ}C$ saturation temperature and 40 kW/m2 heat flux), which are comparable with the performance of foreign products. The heat transfer coefficients of R-134a were larger than those of R-11 or R-123, and they increased as the saturation temperature increased.

In this study, the overall performance and the local flow field of the centrifugal compressor with the refrigerant HFC-l34a were numerically studied using CFX-TASCflow. The thermodynamic and transport properties of the refrigerant gas were modeled by REFPROP which is NIST refrigerant properties database. The impacts of a grid qualify, discretization scheme, turbulent model and interaction between a impeller and a cascade diffuser were analyzed comparatively. The results were compared with experimental data and 1-D design results using COMPAL and agreed well with others. The numerical method and data obtained in this study can be applied to the design and modification of centrifugal compressors with real gases

More recently, safe regulations have been strengthened globally as the importance of automobile passenger safety has increased. This is especially true for car side impact accidents.mas they can cause serious injury due to the narrow space between the car interior and the passenger. To prevent this, a lot of automobile manufacturing companies conduct tests on a full-scale Car Side Impact for development period before regulation certification test. However in many cases the results don’t satisfy the safety regulations and standards, which then additional tests. Furthermore, the test is very expensive. In this paper, we propose a reliable testing methodology to pre-evaluate Door Trims for the chance of sharp edges occurring after impact, and show how to resolve the problem if it occurs before full-scale Car Side Impact test. This research leads to exact prediction of Door Trim sharp edge as full-scale Car Side Impact test.
PEM 연료전지용 Bipolar Plate의 변화단면 유로에 대한 CFD 해석

A flow channel model of a bipolar plate with varying cross-sectional area was newly designed for improving performance and efficiency of a PEM fuel cell stack. As a result, the varying cross-sectional area model showed poor uniformity in velocity distribution, however, maximum velocity in the flow path is about 30% faster than that of the uniform cross-sectional area model. The proposed varying cross-sectional area model is expected to diffuse operating fluids more easily into diffusion layer because it has relatively higher values in pressure distribution compared with other flow channel models. It is expected that the implementation of the varying cross-sectional area model can reduce not only the mass transport loss but also the activation loss in a PEM fuel cell, and open circuit voltage of a fuel cell can thus be increased slightly.

In this study, the overall performance and the effect of the tip leakage flow of the centrifugal compressor with the refrigerant HFC-134a were numerically studied using CFX-TASCflow. To study the effect of a tip leakage flow, the numerical study of the overall performance of HFC-134a centrifugal compressor with a cascade diffuser was preceded and compared with experimental result. Six different tip clearances were used to consider the influence of a tip clearance on performance. The tip leakage flow was illustrated for qualitative discussion. The results obtained in this study can be applied to the determination of the cold clearance.
