        Diversity and enzyme activity of Penicillium species associated with macroalgae in Jeju Island

        A total of 28 strains of 19 Penicillium species were isolated in a survey of extracellular enzyme-producing fungi from macroalgae along the coast of Jeju Island of Korea. Penicillium species were identified based on morphological and β-tubulin sequence analyses. In addition, the halo-tolerance and enzyme activity of all strains were evaluated. The diversity of Penicillium strains isolated from brown algae was higher than the diversity of strains isolated from green and red algae. The commonly isolated species were Penicillium antarcticum, P. bialowiezense, P. brevicompactum, P. crustosum, P. oxalicum, P. rubens, P. sumatrense, and P. terrigenum. While many strains showed endoglucanase, β-glucosidase, and protease activity, no alginase activity was detected. There was a positive correlation between halo-tolerance and endoglucanase activity within Penicillium species. Among 19 Penicillium species, three species–P. kongii, P. olsonii, and P. viticola– have not been previously recorded in Korea.

      • 서해안지역 간척농지의 다각적 활용을 위한 침수안전지역 설정 연구

        Many reclaimed tideland projects in Korea have been conducted to secure the food self-sufficiency. In fact, the domestic food self-sufficiency has been greatly improved and reclaimed tideland projects contribute to Korea's economic and social development directly or indirectly replacing agricultural lands from urbanization, industrialization. As result, current self-sufficiency of rice reach the demand(104.6%) while rate of upland crops has less than 30% of self-sufficiency rate and corn, wheat, soybeans, etc. are virtually dependent on imports. Domestic price of crop is expected to be unstable by trend of international grain prices. Therefore, developing reclaimed tidelands as upland which is originally constructed for paddy fields could be a good option to become steady in domestic crop market and dedicate to ensure a stable food security. The study to prepare measures for dealing with disasters in reclaimed tidelands of west coast district is required in order to utilize those sites for infra construction of multi-utilization in those sites and The result of flooding analysis in this study can suggest policy direction for practical utilization of reclaimed tidelands in yellow sea area.

      • 기후변화에 대응한 배수개선설계기준 개정에 관한 연구

        최근 우리나라는 아열대성 기후로 변함에 따라 예측 불가능한 강우 형태가 자주 발생하고 있으며, 강우량의 경우과거에는 발생하지 않았던 고강도의 강우가 빈번하게 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 기존 농경지 배수시설의 경우고강도의 강우에 부족한 기준을 가지고 있어 침수에 불리한 구조를 가지고 있다. 그에 따라 본 연구는 2011년 9월부터 한국농어촌공사에서 운영된 TF팀의 기후변화 대응 농업기반시설 설계기준개정 내용을 기초로 최근 강우의 지역별, 시기별 강우패턴 변화 분석과 농업기반시설 피해 등 사례분석을 통하여 농업기반시설 재해대비 능력을 조사하고 침수·수문분석을 시행하여 시설물 보강 등을 위한 배수개선사업의 추진 방향을 모색하고, 재해취약시설의 재해사전 예방계획을 수립할 수 있는 기본 방향을 제시하였다. Recently, Korea faces many unexpected extraordinary rain. As there is the feature of the local characteristic heavy rain and subtropical climate in ozone layer destructive, global warming and unusual change of weather of elnino actual condition in Korea. The phenomenon presents a stronger trend of rainfall intensity reducing rain days and this trend is expected to continue for a while, according to the analysis of the meteorological agency. On the other hand, the case of agricultural drainage systems still has insufficient capability to control the recent heavy rain damaged many agricultural facilities and farm lands. Cropping system also has been changed from rice farming that cultivates the most common grain(rice) in rural areas to upland farming that grows horticultural crops(vegetables). There are approximately 21,000 hectare(ha) of flooded rural areas in July, 2011 including 930 hectare(ha) of horticultural crops, mainly due to the torrential rains. As part of effort to minimize rain damage with this trend, central government prepared for drawing up the revision of agricultural drainage systems so that they can limit damages in the event of the torrential rains. For that reason, the study to prepare measures for dealing with disasters in drainage systems is required in order to reduce damage of cropland and drainage systems. The result of flooding analysis in the study can suggest policy direction for revision of practical utilization of agricultural drainage systems.

        클래스가 부가된 커널 주성분분석을 이용한 비선형 특징추출

        본 논문에서는 자료패턴을 분류하기에 적합한 특징을 추출하는 방법인, 클래스가 부가된 커널 주성분분석(class-augmented kernel principal component analysis)를 새로이 제안하였다. 특징추출에 널리 이용되는 부분공간 기법 중, 최근 제안된 클래스가 부가된 주성분분석(class-augmented principal component analysis)은 패턴 분류를 위한 특징을 추출하기 위해 이용되는 선형분류분석(linear discriminant analysis)등에 비해 정확한 특징을 계산상의 문제 없이 추출할 수 있는 기법이다. 그러나, 추출되는 특징은 입력의 선형조합으로 제한되어 자료에 따라 적절한 특징을 추출하기 어려운 경우가 발생한다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 클래스가 부가된 주성분분석에 커널 트릭을 적용하여 비선형 특징을 추출할 수 있는 새로운 부분공간 기법으로 확장하고, 실험을 통하여 성능을 평가하였다. In this papwer, we propose a new feature extraction method, named as Class-augmented Kernel Principal Component Analysis (CA-KPCA), which can extract nonlinear features for classification. Among the subspace method that was being widely used for feature extraction, Class-augmented Principal Component Analysis (CA-PCA) is a recently one that can extract features for a accurate classification without computational difficulties of other methods such as Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA). However, the features extracted by CA-PCA is still restricted to be in a linear subspace of the original data space, which limites the use of this method for various problems requiring nonlinear features. To resolve this limitation, we apply a kernel trick to develop a new version of CA-PCA to extract nonlinear features, and evaluate its performance by experiments using data sets in the UCI Machine Learning Repository.

        느티만가닥 버섯의 품질 및 휘발성 향기 성분 특성

        Hypsizigus marmoreus is a wild mushroom commonly consumed in South Korea due to its beneficial effects on health. In the present study, the general chemical and inorganic-element composition, the total amino acid contents, and the volatile-flavor compounds of H. marmoreus were investigated for food uses. The proximate compositions consisted of 60.1% carbohydrate, 32.0% crude protein, 8.98% moisture, 5.0% ash, and 2.0% crude lipid. The minerals in H. marmoreus were found to be as follows; potassium (429.5 mg), phosphorus (101.9 mg), sodium (20.3 mg), magnesium (54.86 mg), calcium (2.7 mg), zinc (0.8 mg), iron (0.7 mg), manganese (0.2 mg), and copper (0.1 mg), based on 100 g of mushroom dry weight. Seventeen kinds of total amino acids were found in H. marmoreus, with the glutamine acid content being the highest (2,340 mg/100 g), followed by the asparagine, serine, arginine, and leucine contents. The volatile-flavor components of H. marmoreus were collected via simultaneous steam distillation extraction (SDE), and were analyzed via gas chromatography-massspectrophotometry (GC-MS). A total of 17 volatile-flavor compounds were identified, including eight aldehydes, seven alcohols, one acids, and one other compounds. The most abundant compound was 2,3,6-trimethyl pyridine, which accounted for more than 40% of the total volatiles; other important compounds were 1-octen-3-ol, butylhydroxytoluene (BHT), isooctyl phthalate, 3-octanal, 1-undecanol, and 2-amylfuran. These results provide preliminary data for the development of H. marmoreus as an edible food material.

        Icariin 함량에 따른 삼지구엽초 추출물의 항돌연변잉 및 면역활성

        Epimedium koreanum Nakai is a wild herb commonly consumed in South Korea due to its beneficial health effects. In the present study, the antimutagenic and immunoactivities of extracts from E. koreanum Nakai containing different icariin quantities were investigated for food use. In the Ames test, both the water and ethanol extracts were found not to have a mutagenic effect on Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA100, respectively. The E. koreanum Nakai extracts showed over 80 and 90% antimutagenic effects on benzo(α)pyrene (B(a)P) in S. typhimurium TA98 and TA100, respectively. Moreover, all the extracts showed over 70% antimutagenicity on S. typhimurium TA98 and TA100 against 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4NQO). The E. koreanum Nakai extract with ethanol showed strong antimutagenic activity, higher than that of the water extract and the sequenced KE9412, KE9408, and KE9405. In the immunomodulating activity test, the effect of E. koreanum Nakai on the B (Rhamos) and T (Jukat) cells were investigated. The immunoactivity results showed that the growth and viability of the B and T cells increased and were activated more in KE9405 (1.8 times), KE9408 (1.6 times), and KE9412 (1.32 times) in the water extracts, and least in KE9412 (1.74 times), KE9408 (1.52 times), and KE9405 (1.4 times) in the ethanol extracts. In the case of both the water and ethanol extracts (500 μg/mL) from E. koreanum Nakai, the highest cell number of the human B (Rhamos) and T (Jukat) cells was observed on day 4 in KE9405 and KE9412, and on day 5 in KE9408. Based on the obtained results, the development of E. koreanum Nakai as a food material is recommended.

        삼지구엽초 용매별 분획 추출물의 면역관련 활성

        Epimedium koreanum Nakai is a wild medicinal plant commonly consumed in South Korea due to its beneficial health effects. In this study, the antimutagenic and immunological activities of E. koreanum Nakai extracts were investigated for their use in food. In the immunomodulating activity, the effects of E. koreanum Nakai on the B cell (Rhamos) and T cell (Molt-4) were investigated. The results showed that the growth and viability of the B and T cells were increased and activated more in the ethylacetate (1.35 and 1.48 times) and water fraction (1.30 and 1.40 times), respectively. In the Ames test, none of the fractions produced a mutagenic effect on Salmonella. typhimurium TA98 and TA 100. The ethylacetate fraction showed a strong antimutagenic effect (98%) on and a high butanol fraction (84%) of B(α)P in S. typhimurium TA98 and TA100, respectively. In 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4NQO), all the solvent fractions showed an over 70% antimutagenic effect, except for the chloroform extract. Especially, ethylacetate and butanol showed strong inhibition of the mutagenic effects (80 and 90%) on 4NQO in S. typhimurium TA98 and TA100, respectively. These results provide preliminary data for the development of E. koreanum Nakai as an edible food material.

      • 기후변화에 따른 간척농지 수리·수문분석 및 침수안전지역 설정 연구

        최근 우리나라에서는 기존 간척농지를 식량, 사료 등의 곡물 생산기지로 활용하기 위해서 간척지의 농업기반을 수도작 중심에서 밭작물 중심으로 전환하여 간척농지를 복합농업이 가능한 범용 농경지로 조성, 정책적인 식량의 생산량조정과 안정적 식량 확보에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하고 있다. 그에 따라 정부에서는 간척지를 다양한 용도로 활용할 수 있도록 대규모 간척지 활용 기본구상('10)을 마련하여 첨단 수출농업, 축산, 일반원예단지 등 간척지 밭작물 재배에 대한 정책사업을 추진하고 있다. 그러나 기존 간척지는 논 위주로 개발되어 설계 및 작물특성상 홍수시 침수를 허용하고 있어 밭으로 조성하는데 침수방지를 위한 기반시설에 대한 확충이 필요한 상황이다. 따라서, 벼 위주 기반시설이 완공된 간척지를 대상으로 밭 조성이 가능하도록 예산의 중복투자를 최소화하여 인프라를 지원할 수 있는 침수, 배수불량 등의 재해안정성에 대한 기술적인 검토가 필요한 상황으로, 본 연구에서는 기존 간척농지에 대한 빈도별 계획강수량, 계획홍수량, 계획홍수위 등을 현재까지의 수문기상자료로 재검토하여 기후변화와 강우패턴변화를 고려한 대상 간척농지를 다각적으로 활용하기 위해 침수분석결과를 토대로 간척지의 침수안전지역을 설정하였다. Many reclaimed tideland projects in Korea aimed at realizing the food self-sufficiency dedicate the rapid economic growth and social development. Recently, central government prepared for drawing up the basic design and key policy direction to utilize reclaimed tidelands as multi-functional sites. they are promoting many projects in those areas such as horticulture complex, agricultural export sites, livestock industrial complex. However, the existing areas of reclaimed land have been primarily designed for paddy-field which is sanctioned to be flooded. For that reason, the study to prepare measures for dealing with disasters in reclaimed tidelands is required in order to utilize those sites for infra construction of multi-utilization in those sites and The result of flooding analysis in this study can suggest policy direction for practical utilization of reclaimed tidelands.
