Polymers submitted to thermo/electrical stress suffer from ageing that can drastically affect their functional behaviour. Understanding the physico/chemical processes at play during ageing and defining transport regimes in which these mechanisms start to be critical is therefore a prime goal to prevent degradation and to develop new formulation or new materials with improved properties. It is thought that a way to define these critical regimes is to investigate under which conditions (in terms of stress parameters) light is generated in the material by electroluminescence (EL). This can happen through impact excitation/ionization involving hot carriers or upon bi-polar charge recombination (a definition that excludes light from partial discharges, which would sign an advanced stage in the degradation process). After a brief review of the EL phenomenology under DC, we introduce a numerical model of charge transport postulating a recombination controlled electroluminescence. The model output is critically evaluated with special emphasize on the comparison between simulated and experimental light emission. Finally, we comment some open questions and perspectives.

On-line condition monitoring is a useful tool for maintaining and extending the longevity of power transformers. An intelligent diagnostic system is desirable for operational safety and reliability. Bringing these concepts together results in a powerful support tool for engineers, reducing the volume of data to deal with, and making the data more meaningful. This paper describes how a multi-agent system for diagnosing the cause of transformer partial discharge activity was coupled with a method of UHF partial discharge monitoring, creating an on-line condition monitoring system. The challenges presented by the on-site environment are discussed, along with the implications for the complete system.

If any of the set parameters such as the environment temperature, mold temperature are not maintained at a consistent level, the fail rate of injection molding products is increased. The price of the injection molding machine is very high, so in order to maximize the utilization of the machine that is required the production of a number of different products with minimum fail rate using a single machine. To prevent the defect products by an inspection process with perfect quality is very important to minimizing production of defect products in the molding process. Vision inspection systems are widely utilized in various manufacturing industries for quality assurance purposes. The vision inspection system consists of CCD camera and lighting system to capture the image of the subject of inspection, an image comparison algorithm using to determine the pass/fail of the products, and mechanical devices for the operation of the whole system. This research focuses on the development of the vision inspection system to process the inspection of an automobile parts. We developed a mechanical devices for the inspection of the injection molding products and an image comparison algorithm to determine the pass/fail result of the inspection based on the molding image and the accepted product image.
