Vol.32 No.1
By using a non-metric camera, the detailed parts of cultural assets that are difficult to observe precisely on-site, overall three-dimensional shape, and the coordinate information can be obtained to restore the damaged or destroyed parts in the future. Therefore, this research compared and analyzed the data obtained by observing cultural assets with a cheap non-metric camera and Terrestrial LiDAR, in order to acquire the desired information and data at low cost for the purpose of cultural asset management. As a result, when compared the resulting drawings from non-metric camera with the drawing from the Terrestrial LiDAR, an RMSE showed ±8.4mm, which indicates that the camera can be used fully to produce the basic materials of restoring the original shape of damaged cultural assets in many different ways.

Vol.51 No.1
Friction force on robot systems is highly nonlinear and especially disturbs precise control of the robots at low speed. This paper deals with the dynamic friction compensation problem of a well-known one-link benchmark robot system. We consider the LuGre model because the model can successfully represent dynamic characteristics and various effects of friction phenomenon. The proposed controller is constructed as two parts. An adaptive controller based on dual observers is used to estimate and compensate the dynamic friction. In order to attenuate the friction estimation error and other disturbances, PI observer is additionally designed. Through the computer simulations with the benchmark system, this paper first examines the effects of nonlinear dynamic friction on the control performance of the benchmark robot system. Next, it is shown that the control performance against the dynamic friction is improved by using the proposed controller.
Vol.2011 No.5
Parameter identification is a useful technology to maintain robot performance regardless of changing tools and to apply advanced control algorithms such as model based controls. Weighted least-square method and Maximum likelihood method have been usually used for parameter identification method. Those methods assume that the robot dynamics is linear with respect to vector of unknown parameters. Because nonlinear equation is changed into linear form, excitation trajectory is necessary for good parameter identification. In this paper, Fourier series and optimization are used to find an excitation trajectory for parameter estimation. Simulation was performed with a 2-link planar robot manipulator to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
