Since a pattern defects "repair" system using a diode pumped solid state laser for Flat Panel Display (FPD) was suggested, a lot of laser systems have been explored and developed for mass-production microfabrication process. A maskless lithography system using 405 nm violet laser and Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) has been developed for PDP and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Thin Film Transistor (TFT) photolithography process. In addition, a "Laser Direct Patterning" system for Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) for Plasma Display Panel(PDP) has been evaluated one of the best successful examples for laser application system which is applied for mass-production lines. The "heat" and "solvent" free laser microfabrications process will be widely used because the next-generation flat panel displays, Flexible Display and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) should use plastic substrates and organic materials which are very difficult to process using traditional fabrication methods.

A laser glass cutting system using a femto-second laser was evaluated for Flat Panel Display (FPD) glass. A theoretical analysis of the ablation threshold and depth is described using an explicit analytic form. Experiments for clean and deep grooves were performed using a 3W femto-second laser, and the relationships between the input energy and the scribing depth as well as the threshold energy are presented. Mechanical breaking after the scribing process was carried out and the results are compared with a theoretical method. It was found that a two-sided LCD panel glass can be cut clearly using the laser cutting method. The methodology was found to be very effective as a mass-production cutting system.

Purpose: Bioabsorbable screws are used to fix the syndesmotic injury of ankle because of no need for additional operation to remove it. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of polylevolactic acid (PLLA) screws of in the treatment of the syndesmotic injury of ankle. Materials and Methods: Eight patients of the syndesmotic injury of ankle with malleolar fracture were evaluated in this study. They were managed with plate and screw fixation for malleolar fracture and polylevolactic acid screw fixation for syndesmotic injury, followed by plaster splinting for 6 weeks. Clinical and radiographic evaluation were done and functional scores were assessed. Results: In all cases, malleolar fractures were healed without problematic widening of syndesmosis. There were no sinus tract formation and no wound complication. Of eight patients, five had excellent results and three had good results. Conclusion: We conclude that polylevolactic acid screw is good material for fixation of the syndesmotic injury of ankle.
Laser texturing on the surface for improvement of multi-crystalline solar cells

The solar cell is in the spotlight as a future green energy source. In the solar cells based on silicon wafer, the improvement of efficiency is one of crucial issues. One of techniques for high efficiency is texturing on the surface of solar cells. We studied the laser texturing on the surface of multi-crystalline silicon solar cells. The laser texturing followed by chemical etching is adequate for the multi-crystalline structure which have random crystallographic directions. We used the fiber laser for texturing and the SiNx as a masking layer for etching process. We investigated the shapes of holes for texturing in the various laser power conditions and analyzed the holes after removal of thermal damages caused by laser ablation through a 3D profiler.

Laser micromachining is very useful method to process the thin Si wafer directly. Silicone is one of the semiconductor materials which energy band gap is 1.107 eV in normal temperature. Therefore it is necessary to select laser wavelength of 1116nm to process silicone. To be obtained single photon excitation, we select Nd:YAG laser of 1064 nm. One of the most important issues of crystalline silicon solar cell is minimizing reflectance at the surface. Laser texturing is an isotropic process that will sculpt the surface of a silicon wafer, regardless of its crystallographic orientation. We investigated surface texturing process using Nd-YAG laser (lambda=1064 nm) on multi-crystalline silicon wafer. Removal of slag formed after the laser process was performed using acid solution (HF : HNO₃ : CH₃COOH : DI water). The reflectance and carrier lifetime of the samples were measured and analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer and carrier lifetime tester. It was found that the minimum reflectance of the samples was 16.39% and maximum carrier life time was 21.8;{mu}s.
