        Analysis of Hybrid Course Integrated with Content-Based Language Teaching

        The goal of this study is to determine how each different factor of coursework influences a learner’s academic achievements in a Hybrid Course (HC) integrated with Content-Based Language Teaching (CBLT). The survey results show each of the different factors of HC integrated with CBLT influences students’ academic achievements in a different manner. In method awareness, students’ academic performances were highly coordinated with their understanding of the way the coursework was implemented. In the students’ aims for the course elements, the questionnaire identified the students’ priorities over their coursework elements in terms of content and language. The survey results show there was little obvious difference in the students’ priorities in the course elements. However, the correlation of academic achievements was higher on content than on language. The results imply that content was the more important factor in determining students’ achievements. In order to measure students’ perception on effectiveness, four coursework elements were sorted out; namely, lectures, textbook, supplements, and homework. The survey shows that there was little preference of one over the others among them. The knowledge of factor influence can be a base for more appropriate pedagogical course integrating a specific delivery method such as HC and a teaching method such as CBLT.

        Nb 첨가 철계 합금의 Prior austenite 결정립크기 측정 방법

        High-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels show excellent toughness when trace amounts of transition elements are added. In steels, prior austenite grain size (PAGS), which is often determined by the number of added elements, is a critical factor in determining the mechanical properties of the material. In this study, we used two etching methods to measure and compare the PAGS of specimens with bainitic HSLA steels having different Nb contents These two methods were nital etching and picric acid etching. Both methods confirmed that the sample with high Nb content exhibited smaller PAGS than its low Nb counterpart because of Nb's ability to hinder austenite recrystallization at high temperatures. Although both etching approaches are beneficial to PAGS estimation, the picric acid etching method has the advantage of enabling observation of the interface containing Nb precipitate. By contrast, the nital etching method has the advantage of a very short etching time (5 s) in determining the PAGS, with the picric acid etching method being considerably longer (5 h).

        Syntactic Nature of Focus Constructions: Spec-head Configurations and Feature Checking

        The purpose of this study is to reveal the syntactic nature of the components of English focus constructions. The focus constructions are characterized in the spec-head configuration between an operator carrying the focus feature and the head with the matching feature of the functional projections in CP domain. From the same theoretic standpoints, the syntactic mechanism of the cleft-based focus operation is characterized to reveal how the cleft-based structure generates the focus functions. In the cleft-based focus constructions, the syntactic roles of the complementizer type nominal that are closely related to the configuration of spec-head of FocP. The complementizer type that is somewhat distinctive from the wh-pronominal such as who, due to the subject-completement asymmetrical nature of the movement operation. The copula is treated as a spell-out of a functional category of predication (Pr) resulted from the predication percolation. It becomes the condition under which the [EPP] feature carried by the head of PrP triggers occurrence of the expletive it.

        Direct energy deposition 공정을 이용한 Fe-Mn-Al-C계 저망간 경량철강 제조

        Lightweight steel is a crucial material that is being actively studied because of increased carbon emissions, tightening regulations regarding fuel efficiency, and the emergence of UAM, all of which have been recently labeled as global issues. Hence, new strategies concerning the thickness and size reduction of steel are required. In this study, we manufacture lightweight steel of the Fe-Mn-Al-C system, which has been recently studied using the DED process. By using 2.8 wt.% low-Mn lightweight steel, we attempt to solve the challenge of joining steel parts with a large amount of Mn. Among the various process variables, the laser scan power is set at 600 and 800W, and the laser scan speed is fixed at 16.67 mm/s before the experiments. Several pores and cracks are observed under both conditions, and negligibly small pores of approximately 0.5 μm are observed.

        The Effects of Hybrid Instruction on Task-Based Learning

        Hybrid courses are defined as courses in which a significant portion of the learning activities are delivered online and time traditionally spent in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated. This study investigated the effects of hybrid courses delivered at a higher education institution. This experiment was carried out at a mid-size university in South Korea with undergraduate students majoring in English education. The participants were 79 students from freshman to senior grade majoring in English language education. Considering the potential of hybrid learning in higher education, a survey was conducted to measure students’ perceptions of hybrid modules in comparison with other traditional face-to-face courses. The survey utilized a Likert scale consisting of ten multiple-choice questions to assess the participants’ perception of hybrid instruction. With the belief that the hybrid effect is the combined outcome of face-to-face and online teaching, each style of instruction was also analyzed separately in terms of the time allocated to each instructional approach. The study revealed that hybrid courses are more effective than other traditional courses, owing to the synergy of both online and face-to-face factors. However, online instruction had a much greater impact on hybrid learning than face-to-face instruction.

      • Structural Characteristics of Computer - mediated Language : A Comparative Analysis of Inter Change Discourse

        본 논문은 컴퓨터 통신 언어 중에서도 多者 同時 통신 언어의 구조적 특성을 밝히기 위해서 데드레스 인터첸지 (Daedlous Interchange) 와 상응되는 구어 요소와 문어 요소를 비교 분석하기 위하여 요소분석법(factor Analysis) 으로 추출 된 28개의 언어 기능 요소들의 빈도를 비교 분석하여 어떻게 전자 정보 통신 매체가 담화 형태를 결정 해 나가는 가를 밝힌 것이다. 분석 결과 세가지 언어 요소 유형이 도출되었는데, 그 첫번 째 유형은 정보 통신 언어 요소가 문어 요소 보다 높고 구어 요소보다 낮은데 이는 문어 기능 요소와 구어 기능 요소가 정보 통신 언어 안에 상존하여 상호 간섭 작용을 하고 있음이 밝혀졌고, 두번째 유형의 언어 요소는 구어와 문어 요소 보다 모두 높게 나타나고 있는데 이는 전자 정보망이 갖는 한계에 대한 언어적 보정 작용에 의한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 그리고 세번째 유형의 언어 요소는 그 빈도수가 두 다른 요소들 보다 낮은데 이는 전자 통신이 갖는 물리적 한계와 동시 통신이 갖는 시간적 제약으로 인한 언어 제한 현상으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구 결과에 의하면 정보 통신 언어가 단순히 구어와 문어 요소를 함께 하는 것이 아니라 컴퓨터 정보 통신망 구조가 어느 언어 요소는 그 빈도를 높게 하고 어느 요소는 그 빈도를 낮게 하는 일정한 원리에 의해 움직이고 있는 것을 보여주고 있는데 이는 전자 통신망의 매체 구조가 정보 통신 언어 담화 구조를 결정해 간다는 학설을 실증적으로 증명하는 것이다. .

        저온 템퍼링을 이용한 1.2 GPa급 페라이트계 경량철강 개발

        Previously reported low-Mn ferritic-based lightweight steels are potential candidates for industrial applications, however, they typically exhibit lower strength, with < 1 GPa and lower strength-ductility balance, than medium- and high-Mn austenitic lightweight steels. Herein, we introduce a low-temperature tempering-induced partitioning (LTP) treatment that avoids the strength-ductility dilemma of low-Mn ferriticbased steels. When the LTP process was performed at 330 oC for 665 s, the strength of typical ferritic base Fe-2.8Mn5.7Al0.3C (wt%) steel with heterogeneously sized metastable austenite grains embedded in a ferrite matrix, exceeded 1.1 GPa. Notably, the increased strength-ductility balance of the LTP-processed ferritic steel was comparable to that of the high-Mn based austenitic lightweight steel series. Using microscale to nearatomic scale characterization we found that the simultaneous improvement in strength and total elongation could be attributed to size-dependent dislocation movement, and controlled deformation-induced martensitic transformation.
