『토지』에 나타난 민중적 생명력의 서사-‘윤보, 주갑, 몽치’를 중심으로-

The peculiar characteristic of Toji is that characters are arranged in multiple layers in a vast narrative. For this reason, a study of characters is also a key topic in Toji. However, most of the characters belong to the tragic type, and the subject of this study are very exceptional. Accordingly, this study, targeting the characters -‘Yun Bo, Ju Gap, and Mongchi’ in Toji-, revealed their characteristics and meanings as follows. First, they showed the characteristics of creating free relationships as isolated individuals. Because they are poor, lower class, and are primarily isolated from their family relationships because of their wandering lives. However, these characters reveal spontaneous isolation, distancing themselves from the standards and values of the world as well as their existing affiliation. They thus acquire the freedom of a single person and demonstrate the ability to contact and establish relationships with the new world. Second, they all show strong self-affirmation even though they are under conditions of being neglected from the perspective of secular standards. Sometimes they express their self-esteem in jokes and playful laughter. They thus relieve the oppression and tension of reality and share optimistic positivity. Third, these characters show immediate action and strong practicality. In the end, these characters are believed to be subversive character types that have the potential to break through the existing way of life and the negativity of reality. This is how the vitality of the people is exerted in Toji, and how it contributes to the realization of a national narrative. 『토지』의 독특한 특성은 방대한 서사 속에 다층적으로 인물을 배치했다는 사실이다. 이때문에 인물 연구는 『토지』에서 핵심적인 주제 중 하나다. 이에 따라 본고는 『토지』의 ‘윤보, 주갑, 몽치’를 대상으로 삼아, 그 특성과 그 의미를 다음과 같이 밝혀냈다. 첫째, 이들은 고립된 개인으로서 자유로운 관계를 창출하는 특성을 보여주었다. 이들은 가난한 하층계급이기 때문에 떠돌이 생활을 하느라 가족관계에서 일차적으로 고립되어 있다. 그런데 이 인물들은 기존 소속 관계는 물론 세상의 기준과 가치로부터 스스로 거리를 두는 자발적인 고립을 드러낸다. 이를 통해 단독자의 자유를 획득하고, 새로운 세상과 접촉하고 관계 맺는 능력을 발휘했다. 둘째, 이들은 세속적인 기준에서 보자면, 천대받을 조건임에도 불구하고, 모두 강한 자기긍정을 표출했다. 때때로 농담과 유희적인 웃음 속에서 자존감을 표현하기도 하는데, 이를 통해 현실의 억압과 긴장을 해소하고, 낙관적 긍정성을 공유하는 결과를 만들어냈다. 셋째, 이 인물들은 즉각적인 행동과 강력한 실천성을 드러냈다. 결국 이들 인물은 기존 삶의 방식과 현실의 부정성을 돌파할 가능성을 잠재하고 있는, 현실 전복적인 인물 유형이라고 간주할 수 있다. 이는 토지에서 민중적 생명력이 발휘되는 양상이며, 민족적인 서사가 구현되는데 일조하는 방식이라고 판단된다.

컴퓨터의 발달과 인터넷의 확산, 그리고 정보 가전 등장으로 인해 가정에서의 네트워크에 대한 요구가 점차 커지면서 홈 네트워크에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 홈 네트워크란 가정내의 모든 기기, 즉, 컴퓨터 관련 기기나 A/V 기기, 홈 오토메이션을 위한 제어나 보안 기기, 그리고 게임기와 같은 오락기기 등을 모두 하나의 통신망으로 묶어서 정보를 공유하고 제어할 수 있는 것을 말한다. 이러한 홈 네트워크에 대한 요구에 따라 가정에서 네트워크 미디어로 사용될 수 있는 기술들인 HomeRF, HomePNA, IEEE1394, HomePlug, Bluetooth, Ethernet 등이 활발히 연구되고 있다. 또 컴퓨터와 가정의 다른 기기들-디지털 TV, 냉장고, 세탁기, 전화, 전등 등-을 하나로 연결할 수 있는 미들웨어로서 UPnP나 Jini, HAVi 그리고 HWW가 제안되어 연구되고 있으며, 미들웨어와 응용 서비스간의 API를 위해 OSGi가 표준화되고 있다. 여기서는 홈에서 구현될 네트워크 구조에 대해서 살펴보고, 홈 네트워크를 위한 미들웨어에 대해서 살펴보았다.

In the previous molecular cloning study from human salivary gland cDNA library novel clones (C75‐014, C76‐022) were known as candidate genes for proline rich proteins by GenBank data base search and RNA in situ hybridization. C75‐014 and C76‐022 genes were characterized as those expressing excretory basic proteins primarily composed of alanine, proline, and leucine residues, mimicking basic proline‐rich proteins (bPRPs) with helical structures and multiple consensus sequences of phosphorylation sites. In the immunohistochemical stainings using polyclonal antisera against each C75‐014 and C76‐022 peptide showed strong reaction in the secretory granules of striated and excretory ducts. And in Western blot for the different salivary specimens relatively distinctive bands appeared at lower molecular weight, ranging about 15‐50 kDa. This study was aimed to identify the molecular characteristics of C75‐014 and C76‐022 proteins, which showed properties of basic proline rich protein. These data suggest that C75‐014 and C76‐022 are candidate genes for proline rich proteins in human salivary gland, which may play a role for protecting and stabilizing the mucosal epithelium against numerous proteolytic damages and stresses.

‘羅惠錫’의 再現과 自己敍事 - 廉想涉, 咸貞任의 小說을 중심으로 -

本考에서는 廉想涉의 「해바라기」(1924)와 「追悼」(1954), 咸貞任의 『春夏秋冬』(2004)을 대상으로 ‘羅惠錫’이 再現된 의미를 분석했다. 「해바라기」는 나혜석을 통해 근대적 개인의 내면과 二重性, 혼란 등을 포착해내고 있다. 「追悼」에서 나혜석은 과거를 回想하게 하는 계기였고, 과거 鄕愁의 상징적인 존재(‘누님’)로 되새겨진다. 咸貞任의 『春夏秋冬』은 羅惠錫/敍述者/作家를 겹쳐놓고, 이들을 통해 ‘왜 쓰는지’를 질문하는 것으로 출발한다. 虛構의 세계 속에 ‘事實’을 있는 그대로 등장시켜서, 오히려 허구와 사실의 경계를 모호하게 만들어 버린다. 이 과정을 통해 ‘나혜석’은 특정 시대의 浪漫的ㆍ敍事的 象徵을 벗어나, 시대와 장소를 불문하고 여성에게서 찾아볼 수 있는 通時的ㆍ普遍的인 自然性으로 재해석된다. 염상섭과 함정임의 소설쓰기는 결국 自己敍事의 욕망으로부터 비롯되었고, 그에 가장 합당한 주제로 ‘羅惠錫’이 선택되었다. This study analyzed the meaning of reenactment of Na Hye-seok based on Yeom Sang-seop's Sunflower (1924) and Memorial Service (1954), and Ham Jeong-im's Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter (2004). Sunflower was written in the same time as Na Hye-seok lived, and it is deemed to raise the then problems, while Memorial Service remembers the after-death and past of Na Hye-seok at the current point. Sunflower could, through Na Hye-seok, catch the inner mind, duplication and confusion of modern individuals. Memorial Service depicted Na Hye-seok recollecting the past and symbolizing the nostalgia of the past (as referred to as "elder sister"). Ham Jeong-im's Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter sees Na Hye-seok as the speaker and the author, and starts with the question of “why writing?” It featured the reality in the false world, blurring the boundary between the falsehood and the fact. Through this process, Na Hye-seok can be reinterpreted as an all-time universal natural female being found in women, irrespective of times and places, beyond the romantic and descriptive symbol of particular times. Yeom Sang-seop's and Ham Jeong-im's writing novels, after all, began with the desire of self-description, and Na Hye-seok was selected as their most suitable theme.
