<P>A radar with a large number of antennas requires efficient design in its feeding network or transmit/receive modules (TRMs). We propose a method for simplifying the antenna system of a monopulse radar by attaching a single common weight to each antenna, both for sum and difference beams. A major novelty of our work lies in that the proposed technique can synthesize arbitrarily asymmetric monopulse beams with a common weight vector, using computationally efficient linear programming, not resorting to slow global optimization techniques. Therefore, common-weight monopulse beams can be produced in real time to reject ground clutter or null jamming signals.</P>

<P>Bioelectrodes have been widely used to effectively mediate electrical signals with biological systems for various biomedical applications, such as biosensors and prosthetic probes. However, the electrical properties of bioelectrodes are frequently degraded in the biological milieu due to biofouling of bioelectrode surfaces. Hence, the development of simple and effective strategies for bioelectrode surface modification is important for the mitigation of biofouling. To this end, we electrochemically modify electrodes with dopamine-conjugated hyaluronic acid (DA-HA); the modified electrodes exhibit highly hydrophilic surfaces. In addition, the electrochemical impedance of the DA-HA-modified electrodes remains similar to those of bare electrodes. The DA-HA-modified electrodes showed reduced non-specific protein adsorption and minimal adhesion of fibroblasts. Our novel electrochemical passivation of electrodes using DA-HA will contribute to the further development of fouling-resistant and biocompatible bioelectrodes. The electrodeposition of DA-HA can also be potentially applied for general surface modification of other metallic and conducting materials for various applications.</P>

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Levodopa (L-dopa), dopamine precursor is the most effective therapeutic drug for PD patients. Levodopa (LDP) and its three metabolites in rat plasma were determined using high performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). Method validation was conducted in terms of linearity, accuracy, precision, recovery,specificity, limit of detection, limit of quantification and stability. Correlation coefficients (r2) were above 0.9965. The intra-day accuracy values at LLOQ (low limit of quantification),LQC (low quality control), MQC (medium quality control) and HQC (high quality control) levels were 85.7–103.3, 96.5–105.1, 90.7–100.1 and 94.2–101.3 %,respectively. The inter-day accuracy values at LLOQ, LQC,MQC and HQC levels were 77.6–112.0, 91.1–109.3,84.3–101.0 and 88.2–103.9 %, respectively. The coefficient of variation (RSD) values of both intra- and inter-day results were within 6.7 and 8.5 %, respectively. The recoveries (mean ± %SD) for LLOQ, LQC, MQC and HQC were 82.7 ± 3.7–113 ± 2.8 %, 86.6 ± 5.7–110.3±3.4 %,90.9 ± 3.6–106 ± 6.5 and 89.7 ± 4.5–97.4 ± 6.7 %,respectively. The coefficient of variation (RSD) values of both intra- and inter-day results were within 6.7 and 8.5 %,respectively. The validated LC–MS/MS method was applied successfully to the measurement of LDP and its metabolites in the rat plasma samples.

The importance of emotional quality of car is getting higher in these days. Noise takes great portion in emotional quality because it is detectable problem with just a few rides. The sources of car noise during operation are various and the related technical issues are vast. Sometimes weldments of auto body are referred as the source of noise and the suspicious weldment shows unsatisfactory welding quality in most cases. In this research, cases of noise making weldments are investigated to figure out the solution for welding quality improvement. They are categorized into several groups in according to the inferred types of the error source then appropriate solutions are suggested. Auto body has weldments of resistance spot welding and gas metal arc welding in general. Therefore the solutions are suggested as adjustment of welding process variables and related machineries. Inevitable error source is also referred which is originated from thermal expansion rate difference between ultra high strength steel and mild steel. This new approach is validated through simple calculation then more concrete investigation with numerical analysis is remained as further works to be done.

Purpose: This paper treats the improvement of the quality and reliability of military weapon systems based on the maintenance data.Methods: The proposed method of the data integration and refinement are used to obtain the component reliability information and to find the frequently failed components based on the Pareto analysis. Based on the reliability information and the number of failed component frequencies, the target components of quality improvement are determined and improved by multiple methods such as engineering changes, special meetings,additional training and revising maintenance manuals.Results: Based on the proposed process, we find some components which need to be improved in order to enhance the quality and reliability.Conclusion: A process is developed for improving the quality and reliability of weapon systems. This process will be adopted by various weapon systems to enhance the quality and reliability, as well as reduce military spending.

The main mechanism of evolution is that biological entities change, are selected, and reproduce. We propose a different concept in terms of the main agent or atom of evolution: in the biological world, not an individual object, but its interactive network is the fundamental unit of evolution. The interaction network is composed of interaction pairs of information objects that have order information. This indicates a paradigm shift from 3D biological objects to an abstract network of information entities as the primary agent of evolution. It forces us to change our views about how organisms evolve and therefore the methods we use to analyze evolution.
