        This study was conducted to investigate the opinions of sixty seven strawberry producers in Damyang-gun, and to gain the data on the development of policy for the 6th industrialization of strawberry under structure. 90.91% of strawberry-producing farms said that administrative support was needed to promote exports. In order to revitalize the exports of strawberry fruits, they responded that the support of packaging and logistics costs(34.18%), export-only strawberry varieties(27.85%), and promotion of export-specialized companies(17.72%) were needed first. 60.71% of the respondents said that the 6th industrialization of greenhouse strawberry were necessary. For the 6th industrialization of strawberry industry, it was necessary to diversify consumption and sales outlets(43.37%), to enhance the quality of many production for fruits(26.51%), and to develop the recipes of the processed products(21.69%). Only 19.73% of the respondents were satisfied with the administrative support from Damyang-gun related to greenhouse strawberry. The administrative support most urgently desired by farmers were the improvement of greenhouse facility(40.48%) and the distribution and support of cultivation technology(19.05%). It was necessary to strengthen the support of local governments to foster the industry of greenhouse strawberry for securing the competitiveness of strawberry cultivation(22.32%), expansion of production base(21.88%), expansion of distribution facilities and improvement of distribution system(19.20%). Therefore, it was confirmed that the administrative agency needed an administration that reflects the opinions of producers for the development of greenhouse strawberry in Damyang-gun.

        Effect of the Microalga Chlorella fusca CHK0059 on Strawberry PGPR and Biological Control of Fusarium Wilt Disease in Non-Pesticide Hydroponic Strawberry Cultivation

        The purpose of this study was to identify strawberry wilt pathogens and evaluate the efficacy of Chlorella fusca CHK0059 for improving plant growth and suppressing Fusarium wilt. We identified 10 isolates of wilt pathogens of non-pesticide Seolhyang strawberry plant, including Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fragariae, using morphological and molecular analysis. On the 15th day after 0.4% CHK0059 treatment, the plant height of the untreated control strawberry plants was significantly greater than that of the CHK0059-treated strawberry plants. After 85 days, both treatments showed a similar tendency regarding the height of the strawberry plants. However, the thickness of strawberry leaves treated with the CHK0059 was found to be 1 mm thicker than that of the untreated control. The flowering percentage of the CHK0059 plants was also 40.2% higher on average than that of the untreated control. The chlorophyll content of strawberry leaves treated with the CHK0059 was also, on average, 6.63% higher than that of the untreated control. After 90 days of the CHK0059 treatment, the incidence of Fusarium wilt in the CHK0059-treated plants had reduced by 9.8% on average compared to the untreated control. The population density of F. oxysporum f. sp. fragariae was also reduced by approximately 86.8% in the CHK0059-treated plants by comparison to the untreated control at 70 days after treatment. The results indicate that the microalga C. fusca CHK0059 is an efficient biological agent for improving strawberry plant growth and suppressing Fusarium wilt disease in organic strawberries.

        A Comparative Study Based on SVR for the Change of Strawberry Productions by the Variation of Nutrient Water Flow

        Strawberry is one of the most well-liked fruits all over the world, and strawberry productions is rapidly rising as one of the most healthy economies all over the world. Due to the high demand for strawberries, greenhouse strawberry cultivation is increasing rapidly and farmers are using different types of methods for greenhouse cultivation to get high productions. The aims of this study are to find out the high production rate of the strawberry based on nutrient solutions with water flow rate. Farmers use a different amount of water nutrient solutions for strawberry production but mostly they don’t know how much nutrient solutions with water flow is good for getting high production because of giving the high amount or less amount of nutrient solutions with water flow are always not good or bad for productions. Farmers have to know about the amount of nutrient solutions with water flow for getting good productions and now this is the high time to support farmers for increasing their strawberry productions by giving technological support. Therefore, in this study, we analyze the production rate of strawberries based on the nutrient solutions with water flow rate of strawberries in every bed. Finally, through the results and discussion by using the support vector regression model we find out that how much nutrient solutions with water flow should be needed to obtain high yielding of strawberries.

        적색광에 의한 딸기재배의 일장연장 효과

        BACKGROUND: Many strawberry growers are utilizing daylength extension by using incandescent bulb or fluorescent lamp to break dormancy of strawberry induced by low temperature and short day conditions. Conventional incandescent bulb and fluorescent lamp consume a lot of electricity and have short longevity. Red light known for most efficient wavelength for daylength extension light of short-day plant and long-day plant. This study was conducted to verify the effects of red light to enhance growth and to increase production of strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cvs. “Seolhyang”) METHODS AND RESULTS: Three red light (660nm) of 0.70, 0.87, and 1.05 μmol/m2/s (PAR) and conventional incandescent bulb of 40 Lux were treated respectively under the pot experiment. All treatment irradiated from 18:00 to 24:00 for 6 hours. Red light treatment tend to increase leaf stem number, flower stem number, weight of flower stem, crown weight, root weight, and leaf area of strawberry then incandescent bulb treatment. In field experiment, red light of 0.7 μmol/m2/s (PAR) andconventional incandescent bulb of 40 Lux were irradiated respectively. Field experiment showed that the leaf number, leaf weight, and crown weight of strawberry increased than those of incandescent bulb control with red LED of 0.7 μ mol/m2/s (PAR). Red LED treatment increased the fruit number over 15g than incandescent bulb. Furthermore, red LED treatment decreased fruit number below 15g of strawberry than incandescent bulb treatment. Therefore, We believed that red LED treatment increased marketable fruit number by increment of weight of each fruit. Consequently, marketable fruit number, fruit weight, and fruit production of strawberry were increased than those of incandescent bulb by 5 %, 2.9 %, and 8.5 % respectively, but not showed significantly differences. CONCLUSION: These results presumably due to directly enhanced photosynthesis of strawberry leaves and activated action of Pfr phytochrome form by red light. In conclusion, red LED of 660nm could be used for daylength extension light source to enhance production of strawberry.

        Consumer Perception and Sensory Characteristics of Cookies Incorporated with Strawberry Powder

        The effect of baking on the consumer perception and sensory characteristics was investigated using a model system of cookies incorporated with strawberry powder as a value-added food ingredient. Strawberry powder was incorporated into cookie dough at 4 levels (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%, w/w) by replacing equivalent amount of wheat flour of the cookie dough. After aging and sheeting, cookies were baked at 170oC for 15 min in an oven. The baked cookies were cooled to room temperature for 1 h and packed in airtight bags prior to all measurements. In terms of color, control received the most favorable mean score, which is significantly higher than others (p<0.05) followed by the 4% sample. The consumer preference on taste and aftertaste was not significantly affected by the amount of strawberry powder incorporated in the formulation (p>0.05). Samples with 4% strawberry powder received the highest mean flavor score of 6.28 which is significantly higher than that of 6% sample (p<0.05). In overall, substitution of 4% strawberry powder in the formulation would result in the most favorable strawberry cookies by the consumers with taking advantages of health benefits of strawberry. Correlation analysis indicated that strawberry powder concentration was significantly correlated positively with sensory color and hardness and negatively correlated with consumers' overall acceptability (p<0.05). Consumers' aftertaste was significantly correlated with overall acceptability which was negatively correlated with sensory hardness (p<0.05). Sensory hardness was highly correlated with sensory color attribute (p<0.05).

        이상 고온 조건이 딸기의 생육, 수량 및 생리활성 성분에 미치는 영향

        In this study, we investigated the influences of abnormal high temperature on growth, yield and physiologically active substances of the strawberry. General strawberry cultivars in the 20℃ growth condition showed much better growth of leaf number, length, diameter along with plant height, compared with those in 22.5℃ or 25℃. But the cultivars of both ‘Sulhyang’ and ‘Mehyang’ showed good growth and development at 25℃ with the roots showing great growth at 20℃. The quality and yield of the strawberry were best in the 20℃ growth condition, but the merchantability deteriorated in the 25℃ high temperature condition. As for the content of the physiologically active substances of the strawberry, it increased at 20℃, the optimum growth temperature, but decreased at 25℃. The physiologically active substances in the strawberry differed among the cultivars, the contents of cyanidin-3-glucoside, cinchonine, ellagic acid and cinnamic acid higher in the ‘Mehyang’, whereas the content of fisetin is higher in the ‘Sulhyang’ cultivar.Consequentially, the high temperature in summer has a negative effect on the physiological active ingredients of the strawberry, which was increased in the strawberry cultivated at proper temperature, and high quality strawberry production was possible.

        시설재배 딸기의 생산단계에서 살충제 잔류량에 따른 반감기 및 감소상수 산출에 의한 안전성 평가

        BACKGROUND: Dissipation patterns of insecticides (acequinocyl, clothianidin, diflubenzuron, thiacloprid, and thiamethoxam) on strawberry grown in plastic-covered greenhouse were evaluated at 7 intervals including the pre- harvest interval after application. This study was performed to determine the residue concentrations, half-lives and dissipation rates in strawberry for the harvest periods. METHODS AND RESULTS: Acequinocyl, clothianidin, diflubenzuron, thiacloprid, and thiamethoxam were applied in accordance with critical good agricultural practices for strawberry. Strawberry samples were collected at 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days after application. Quantitaion was performed by HPLC/DAD and HPLC-MSMS system with C18 column. The limit of quantitation (LOQ) values varied between were 0.00025~0.05 mg/kg on strawberry. The recoveries of acequinocyl, clothianidin, diflubenzuron, thiacloprid and thiamethoxam at two concentrations ranged from 70.9~ 104.9% on strawberry. The half-lives of pesticide dissipation on strawberry for two fields ranged from 1.3~8.2 days. The dissipation rates were evaluated according to the statistics method with a 95% confidence. CONCLUSION: The residue levels of insecticides (acequinocyl, clothianidin, diflubenzuron, thiacloprid, and thiamethoxam) on strawberry at 0-day after application were below the specified values by Korean MRL. To estimate dissipation rate constant of pesticides on crop for harvest periods, it is important to set the pre-harvest residue limit for human health and consumer protection in Korea. .

        딸기 육묘장 토양 내 식물기생선충의 감염현황과 자묘를 통한 선충의 분산

        2016년 6월부터 9월까지 국내 딸기 육묘장 117개 포장의 토양으로부터 식물기생선충의 토양 내 감염현황을 조사하였다. 그 결과 뿌리썩이선충(Pratylenchus)과 뿌리혹선충(Meloidogyne)이 11%와 3%로 검출되어 딸기 육묘장의 문제선충으로 나타났다. 육묘 형태별로는 토경육묘에서 뿌리썩이선충과 뿌리혹선충의 발생빈도가 다른 육묘방법에 비해 높았고, 상토를 이용한 비가림 포트육묘에서는 식물기생선충이 검출되지 않았다. 뿌리썩이선충은 딸기뿌리썩이선충(P. penetrans)과 사과뿌리썩이선충(P. vulnus) 2종이 확인 되었으며, 뿌리혹선충은 당근뿌리혹선충(M. hapla) 1종이 확인되었다. 사과뿌리썩이선충은 딸기 자묘를 통해 식물기생선충이 감염되지 않은 건전한 토양으로의 확산이 확인되었다(33%). To survey the incidence of plant-parasitic nematode in strawberry nursery, 117 soil samples were collected from main producing area of strawberry nursery plants in 2016. The incidences of two major problematic nematodes such as root-lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.) and root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) were 11% and 3%, respectively. Strawberry nurseries using upland soil either in fields or in plastic-houses showed were higher infection rates of Pratylenchus spp. or Meloidogyne spp. than others. On the other hand, a strawberry nursery using pots filled with bed soil in plastic-house was the lowest infection rate with 0%. Phylogenetic relationships and distance analysis were performed for identification of Pratylenchus spp. and Meloidogyne spp. detected from strawberry nurseries. As the results, they were identified as Pratylenchus penetrans, Pratylenchus vulnus and Meloidogyne hapla. Meanwhile, when nursery plants of strawberry infested with P. vulnus transplanted to pots filled with sterilized soil, P. vulnus was detected from soil in pots as 33% frequency. Thus, P. vulnus can be spread through nursery plants of strawberry infested with that. These studies suggested that Pratylenchus spp. and Meloidogyne spp. were ploblematic nematodes in major areas of strawberry nursery plants and P. vulnus could be spread through nursery plants of strawberry.

        Genome‑wide identification of GMP genes in Rosaceae and functional characterization of FaGMP4 in strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa)

        Background GDP-D-mannose pyrophosphorylase (GMP) is one of the key enzymes determining ascorbic acid (AsA) biosynthesis. However, little information about GMP genes is currently available for the Rosaceae species, especially in the AsA-riched cultivated octoploid strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa). Objective To identify the all the GMP genes in Rosaceae, as well as the predominant homologues and the role of GMP genes in strawberry AsA accumulation. Methods In the present study, we performed genome-wide identifcation and comprehensive analysis of the duplicated GMP genes in strawberry and other Rosaceae species by bioinformatics methods, the expression of the GMP genes from cultivated strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa, FaGMP) was specifcally analyzed by qPCR. Finally, the FaGMP4 was transiently overexpressed in strawberry to estimate the role of GMP in regulating AsA accumulation in strawberry. Results As results, a total of 28 GMP genes were identifed in the fve Rosaceae species. The origins of duplication events analysis suggested that most GMP duplications in Rosaceae species were generated from whole genome duplication (WGD). The Ka/Ks ratio suggested that FaGMP genes underwent a stabilization selection. qPCR based expression analysis showed diferent patterns of FaGMP paralogs during fruit ripening, while FaGMP4 expressed higher in the variety containing higher AsA. Overexpression of FaGMP4 in strawberry signifcantly enhanced AsA accumulation. Furthermore, the expression of FaGMP4 under the treatment of blue and red light was largely increased in leaves while signifcantly inhibited in fruit. These results revealed the vital role of FaGMP4 in regulating AsA in strawberry.
