        High-Spread Interleaver based Interleave-Division Multiple Access Scheme for the 4G System

        This paper presents high-spread (HS) random interleavers based interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) scheme for the 4th generation mobile radio system. High-spread feature of a random interleaver offers high-spread characteristics to interleavers and thus produces extrinsic values with low correlation. As interleavers are key components for user separation in the IDMA, the HS interleavers with this feature are employed and analyzed in the IDMA for performance improvement. In addition, by replacing random interleavers with the HS interleavers in the IDMA, bandwidth efficiency is achieved by means of reducing the length of the repetition code. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme of the IDMA with the HS interleavers provides superior BER performance and improved bandwidth efficiency.

        Turbo code has excellent decoding performance but had limitations for real time communications because of the system complexity and time delay in decoding procedure. To overcome this problem, a new SRI(Semi-Random Interleaver) algorithm which realize the reduction of the interleaver size is proposed for reducing the time delay during the decoding prodedure. SRI algorithm compose the interleaver 0.5 size from the input data sequence. In writing the interleaver, data is recorded by row such as block interleaver. But, in reading, data is read by randomly and the text data is located by the just address simultaneously. Therefore, the processing time of with the pre-existing method such as block, helical, random interleaver.

        <P>Though an interleaver with Gires-Tournois (GT) etalon is very attractive for achieving smaller channel spacing and compact configurations, its insertion loss should be reduced further so as to utilize it in an ultra narrow DWDM system. In this article, an asymmetric input–output ports configuration is proposed to obtain efficient coupling within the interleaver and consequently to reduce the insertion loss of the interleaver.         Interleaver Design of Punctured RA-Type LDPC Codes

        In this paper, we analyze the cycle structure of punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes and design interleavers which have good memory efficiency and avoid short cycles. Furthermore, we introduce the check-node merging scheme for punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes and design simple interleavers. Simulation results show that punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes using the proposed simple interleavers have better performance than those with random and S-random interleavers.

        DVB-T2 기반의 UHDTV 방송을 위한 초고차 성상 변조방식의 비트 인터리버 설계

        UHDTV(ultra-high definition television)가 초고해상도 방송 서비스를 지향하는 차세대 방송 서비스로 논의되고 있다. 그러나 상용 방송 시스템으로 UHDTV의 요구 전송량을 온전히 충족시킬 수 없으므로, 초 고차 성상을 이용한 전송량 증대관련 연구가 진행되고 있다. 특히, 기존의 시스템 중에서 UHDTV 전송에 가장 적합한 DVB-T2(Digital video broadcasting-2nd generation terrestrial) 시스템에 초 고차 변조를 적용할 경우 오류 정정부호의 부호어와 성상의 Unequal error protection을 적절히 이어주는 비트 매퍼가 필요하다. DVB-T2 시스템의 비트 매퍼는 비트 인터리버와 비트-셀 역다중화기로 나누어져 있으며, 두 가지 블록에 대한 많은 연구가 진행되었다. 그러나 비트 인터리버 설계와 관련된 연구가 부족하여 UHDTV 시스템에 적용될 초 고차 성상의 비트 인터리버 설계 방법론에 대한 정립이 필요하다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 DVB-T2의 비트 인터리버의 설계 방법을 제안하고, 1024-QAM과 4096-QAM의 비트 인터리버를 제안된 설계 방법을 통하여 설계하였다. The ultra-high definition television (UHDTV) has been considered as a next generation broadcsating service. However the conventional digital terrestrial transmission system cannot afford the required transmission data rate of UHDTV, and thus adopting ultra-high order constellation, such as 4096-QAM, into the conventional DTT systems has been studied. In particular, when the ultra-high order constellation is adopted into the digital video broadcasting-2nd generation terrestrial (DVB-T2) unequal-error protection (UEP) properties of a codeword of an error correction coding and ultra-high order constellations should be properly matched by bit mapper in order to enhance the decoding performance. Because long codeword results in a heavy computational complexity to design the bit mapper, the DVB-T2 divided it into cascaded blocks, the bit interleaver and the bit-to-cell DEMUX, and there have been many researches related to each block. However, there are few published study related to design methodology of bit interleaver. In this respect, this paper proposes a design methodology of the bit interleaver and presents bit interleavers of 1024-QAM and 4096-QAM according to the proposed design algorithm. The newly designed interleavers improved the decoding performance of the error correction coding by maximally 0.6 dB SNR over both of AWGN and random fading channel.

        The Effect of Block Interleaving in an LDPC-Turbo Concatenated Code

        The effect of block interleaving in a low density parity check (LDPC)-turbo concatenated code is investigated in this letter. Soft decoding can be used in an LDPC code unlike the conventional Reed-Solomon (RS) code. Thus, an LDPC-turbo concatenated code can show better performance than the conventional RS-turbo concatenated code. Furthermore, the performance of an LDPC-turbo code can be improved by using a block interleaver between the LDPC and turbo code. The average number of iterations in LDPC decoding can also be reduced by a block interleaver.

      • CRC를 사용한 터보부호에서 edge-effect를 감소시키기 위한 인터리버

        차세대 이동통신 시스템에서 고품질의 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 강력한 오류정정부호의 사용이 필수적이다. 터보부호에서는 반복복호를 수행함으로써 우수한 오류성능을 얻을 수 있지만 반복복호 회수가 증가될수록 연산량과 지연시간도 증가된다. 따라서 우수한 오류성능을 유지하면서 반복복호 회수를 줄이기 위한 방법이 요구된다. CRC를 사용하는 터보부호는 이러한 반복복호 회수를 줄일 수 있는 가장 효과적인 방법으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 CRC를 사용하지 않은 기존의 터보부호에서와 같이 CRC를 사용하는 터보부호에서도 edge-effect에 의해 오류성능이 크게 저하될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 s-랜덤 인터리버에 D-파라메타를 적용하여 edge-effect를 제거하기 위한 방법이 제시된다. 모의실험 결과 CRC를 사용한 터보부호에서 본 논문에서 제시된 D-파라메타를 적용한 인터리버를 사용하는 경우 edge-effect가 완전히 제거됨을 확인할 수 있었다. In the next generation mobile communications, powerful channel coding is essential in order to obtain high quality multimedia services. Turbo code can achieve good error performance by iterative decoding, but more iterations result in additional computational complexity and delay. Thus, a method to reduce the number of iterations without additional performance degradation is needed. Turbo code with CRC is known to be the most efficient method to reduce the number of iterations. In this scheme, the performance may be degraded by the edge-effect like the conventional turbo code without CRC. In this paper, a method to eliminate the edge-effect is proposed by adopting D-parameter to the conventional s-random interleaver. As results of simulation, the edge-effect of the turbo code with CRC is shown to be successfully eliminated by using the new interleaver designed with D-parameter.

        병렬 처리 구조 터보 부호에서 라틴 방진 행렬로 구성된 충돌 방지 인터리버

        병렬 처리 구조 터보 부호에서 메모리 충돌을 피하기 위한 구성 인터리버 설계가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 설계된 인터리버들과 라틴 방진 행렬로 구성된 충돌 방지 인터리버를 제안한다. 제안된 인터리버는 다양한 블록 길이와 다양한 병렬 처리 차수에 대하여 쉽게 최적화 할 수 있다. 제안된 인터리버의 성능을 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 검증하였다. In the parallel-architecture turbo codes, the constituent interleaver must avoid memory collision. This paper proposes a collision-free interleaver structure composed of a Latin square matrix and pre-designed interleavers. Our proposed interleavers can be easily optimized for various information block sizes and for various degrees of parallelism. Their performances were evaluated by computer simulation.
