      • Exploiting Interference-aware GPU Container Concurrency Learning from Resource Usage of Application Execution

        The advent of GPGPU (General-Purpose Graphic Processing Unit) containers enlarges opportunities of acceleration and easy-to-use in clouds. However, there is still lack of research on utilizing efficiently GPU resource and managing multiple applications at the same time. Co-execution of applications without understanding applications’ execution characteristics may result in low performance caused by their interference problems. To solve the problem, this paper defines resource metrics that causes performance degradation when sharing resource. We calculate the degree of interference during concurrent execution of multi applications using a ML (Machine Learning) method with the metrics. The experiments show that the execution of interference aware groups improves 7% in execution time compared to non-interference aware group in overall. For a workload consisting of several applications, the overall performance was improved by 18% and 25%, respectively, when compared to SJF and random.

        An Energy Efficient Interference-aware Routing Protocol for Underwater WSNs

        Interference-aware routing protocol design for underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) is one of the key strategies in reducing packet loss in the highly hostile underwater environment. The reduced interference causes efficient utilization of the limited battery power of the sensor nodes that, in consequence, prolongs the entire network lifetime. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient interference-aware routing (EEIAR) protocol for UWSNs. A sender node selects the best relay node in its neighborhood with the lowest depth and the least number of neighbors. Combination of the two routing metrics ensures that data packets are forwarded along the least interference paths to reach the final destination. The proposed work is unique in that it does not require the full dimensional localization information of sensor nodes and the network total depth is segmented to identify source, relay and neighbor nodes. Simulation results reveal better performance of the scheme than the counterparts DBR and EEDBR techniques in terms of energy efficiency, packet delivery ratio and end-to-end delay.

        Optimization of Cooperative Sensing in Interference-Aware Cognitive Radio Networks over Imperfect Reporting Channel

        Due to the low utilization and scarcity of frequency spectrum in current spectrum allocation methodology, cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have been proposed as a promising method to solve the problem, of which spectrum sensing is an important technology to utilize the precious spectrum resources. In order to protect the primary user from being interfered, most of the related works focus only on the restriction of the missed detection probability, which may causes over-protection of the primary user. Thus the interference probability is defined and the interference-aware sensing model is introduced in this paper. The interference-aware sensing model takes the spatial conditions into consideration, and can further improve the network performance with good spectrum reuse opportunity. Meanwhile, as so many fading factors affect the spectrum channel, errors are inevitably exist in the reporting channel in cooperative sensing, which is improper to be ignored. Motivated by the above, in this paper, we study the throughput tradeoff for interference-aware cognitive radio networks over imperfect reporting channel. For the cooperative spectrum sensing, the K-out-of-N fusion rule is used. By jointly optimizing the sensing time and the parameter K value, the maximum throughput can be achieved. Theoretical analysis is given to prove the feasibility of the optimization and computer simulations also shows that the maximum throughput can be achieved when the sensing time and the parameter of K value are both optimized.

        해상 통신에서 지상파 VHF 데이터 교환을 위한 간섭 인지 기반 자원 할당 기법

        본 논문에서는 선박이 밀집한 해안 환경에서 Automatic Identification System (AIS) 메시지 전송의 신뢰성을보장하는 지상파 Very High Frequency (VHF) 데이터 교환 (VHF Data Exchange-Terrestrial, VDE-TER)을 위한간섭 인지 기반 자원 할당 (Interference-aware Resource Allocation, IaRA) 기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해, IaRA는VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) 채널 모니터링을 통해 얻은 스케줄링 정보에 기반하여 채널 선택 및 슬롯 할당을 수행한다. 시뮬레이션 결과, IaRA가 기존 VDES의 VDE-TER 자원 할당 기법과 비교하여 8.79% 높은 패킷 전달률과 9.69% 낮은 채널 간섭률을 달성하였다. This paper proposes an interference recognition-based resource allocation (IaRA) scheme for very high frequency (VHF) data exchange-terrestrial (VDE-TER) to ensure the reliability of automatic identification system (AIS) message transmission in a coastal environment with dense vessels. To this end, IaRA conducts channel selection and slot allocation based on scheduling information obtained through monitoring VHF data exchange system (VDES) channels. The simulation results show that IaRA achieved an 8.79% higher packet delivery ratio (PDR) and a 9.69% lower channel interference ratio (CIR) compared to the VDE-TER resource allocation scheme of the existing VDES standard

        Recently, though it was developed several services using the context-awareness technology of IoT, there exist also obstacles for high quality service. Specifically it is short the study for uncertainty of context-awareness. This study focused on understanding the effect of frequency interference among several environmental factors for location determination to increase precision of location determination. It was found that frequency interference between devices using 2.4Ghz frequency effect on the location determination precision. It was resulted that frequency interference increase the error of location determination precision. Then, we confirmed that it was required the suitable compensation method corresponding to frequency interference.

        A QoS-aware Adaptive Coloring Scheduling Algorithm for Co-located WBANs

        Interference may occur when several co-located wireless body area networks (WBANs) share the same channel simultaneously, which is compressed by resource scheduling generally. In this paper, a QoS-aware Adaptive Coloring (QAC) scheduling algorithm is proposed, which contains two components: interference sets determination and time slots assignment. The highlight of QAC is to determine the interference graph based on the relay scheme and adapted to the network QoS by multi-coloring approach. However, the frequent resource assignment brings in extra energy consumption and packet loss. Thus we come up with a launch condition for the QAC scheduling algorithm, that is if the interference duration is longer than a threshold predetermined, time slots rescheduling is activated. Furthermore, based on the relative distance and moving speed between WBANs, a prediction model for interference duration is proposed. The simulation results show that compared with the state-of-the-art approaches, the QAC scheduling algorithm has better performance in terms of network capacity, average delay and resource utility.

      • A clustering based routing algorithm in IoT aware Wireless Mesh Networks

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Internet of Things (IoT) notion enables embedded devices to connect and share data through IP or the web. Interference routing metric and adaptive load balancing have gained much attention as the key challenges to overcome in IoT based wireless mesh networks (WMN) with the increase in wireless service performance. Moreover, IoT over WMN severely affected by network traffic caused by enormous data generation by a large number of users. Hence, we have proposed a clustering based routing algorithm considering an interference and load balancing routing metric that focuses on minimizing the existing issues of networks. In this study, we propose a scheme that reduces the end-to-end delay but also gives full consideration to both the quality on the entire route to the destination and to the expected lifetime of nodes with bottlenecks from heaped traffic in IoT. Simultaneously, it utilizes mesh station channel interference and queue information appropriately to address the identified challenges. The simulations results show that the proposed scheme performed superior to the existing routing metrics present in the current literature for similar purposes.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Our system achieve optimal network throughput. </LI> <LI> In IoT over WMN environment, a Load Balancing and Interference Delay Aware routing algorithm is used to avoid network traffic jam. </LI> <LI> The proposed scheme efficiently utilizes the available mesh station queue information and the number of mesh nodes that suffers from channel interference in the available path.         브랜드 현저성이 경쟁브랜드 회상에 미치는 영향에 대한 브랜드 인지도 수준의 조절효과

        The finding of previous, mostly American studies that momentary brand salience produces interference in the recall of competitive brands appeared to be robust. However, considering the alternative ways of manipulating brand salience as well as the product categories in which salience effects were examined in prior research, the generalizability of brand salience effects in the Korean context needs to be further investigated. Further, given the importance of brand awareness that constitutes consumer-based brand equity, if the competitive interference effects driven by momentary brand salience may be moderated by brand awareness levels, the previous findings and managerial implications as to brand salience effects may well be newly interpreted. Hence, this research examined the effects of brand salience on competitive brand recall with the moderating role of brand awareness levels for the product categories of Korean instant noodles, soft drinks, chewing gums, and toothpaste. First, we found the interference effect of brand salience on competitive brand recall in the Korean context, using the different way of manipulating brand salience (the print ads of brands were pre-exposed),which confirmed the robustness of brand salience effects. In addition, the moderating role of brand awareness levels in the brand salience effects was found. That is, the interference effect of brand salience on competitive brand recall was strong for the low-awareness-level brands as compared to the high-awareness-level brands. This new finding presents re-interpretation of the prior brand salience effects along with new managerial implications. 브랜드의 순간 현저성(momentary salience) 증진이 경쟁브랜드의 회상을 방해하는 간섭효과(interference effects)는 미국의 고전적 연구에서 탄탄하게(robust) 확인되었으며 한국의 한 연구에서도 재확인되었다. 그러나 현저성을 조작하는 방식과 연구된 제품군을 감안할 때 우리나라 상황에서 이 고전적 효과의 일반화 가능성은 더 검토될 필요가 있다. 나아가 고객중심의 브랜드자산을 구성하는 브랜드 인지도의 중요성을 고려할 때 순간 현저성 증대에 의한 경쟁브랜드 기억의 간섭효과가 브랜드 인지도 수준에 따라 차이가 있다면, 기존 연구의 시사점 및 경영관리적 관점에서 이러한 간섭효과는 재해석되어야 할 것이다. 이에본 연구는 라면, 음료수, 껌, 치약 등 4개 제품군을 대상으로 브랜드들의 인지도 수준별로 현저성 증가에 의한 기억의 간섭효과를 살펴보았다. 기존연구와 다른 방식(해당 브랜드의 인쇄광고를 노출)으로 현저성을 조작했을 때에도 브랜드 현저성의 증가가 경쟁브랜드 회상을 막는 간섭효과는 발견되었다. 또한, 브랜드 인지도 수준별로 현저성의 간섭효과를 분석한 결과, 상대적으로 높은 인지도 수준의 브랜드들은 간섭의 영향을덜 받는 반면, 중간 또는 낮은 인지도 수준의 브랜드들의 경우 상대적으로 높은 간섭효과가 발견되었다. 이새로운 결과는 브랜드 현저성 효과에 대한 재해석과 이에 따른 새로운 경영관리적 시사점을 제공한다.

        센서 네트워크 기반 위치 인식 시스템 간섭의 최소화 방안에 관한 연구

        유비쿼터스와 퍼베이시브 환경에서의 위치인지 기술은 자동차 내비게이션, 지능형 로봇, 대화형 가상 게임, 물류 서비스, 그리고 자산 추적 등 다양한 응용 기회를 제공해 주고 있다. 더욱이 위치 인식 정보뿐 아니라 객체 혹은 센서 노드 주변의 상황 정보까지도 전달하여 제한된 공간에서의 다양한 응용에 활용될 것으로 보인다. 그러나 위치 측정에 있어 환경적 요소와 측정 매체 등에 의해 간섭이라는 문제점을 갖는다. 특히 실내 좁은 공간에서 비컨 신호간의 간섭은 거리 측정의 심각한 오류뿐 아니라 더 나아가 위치 인식 시스템 전체 성능에도 영향을 미치게 된다. 이러한 간섭 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 비컨의 초음파 및 RF 신호 세기를 각 노드 별로 차별화하는 방식인 EEM을 제안한다. Ubiquitous and pervasive environment presents opportunities for a rich set of location-aware applications such as car navigation and intelligent robots, interactive virtual games, logistics service, asset tracking etc. Typical indoor location systems require better accuracy than what current outdoor location systems provide. Outdoor location technologies such as GPS have poor indoor performance because of the harsh nature of indoor environments. In this paper we present a novel reducing interference location system that is particularly well suited to support context-aware computing. The system, called EEM (Enhance Envelop Method) aims to combine the advantages of real time tracking systems that implement distributed environment with the suitability of infrastructure sensor network.
