        Location Trigger System for the Application of Context-Awareness based Location services

        본 논문은 지능형 위치추적을 위한 위치트리거와 이동에이전트 시스템 기술을 적용하여, 상황인식 기반 위치서비스를 위한 위치트리거 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다. 또한, 트리거 및 조치 서비스 프로토콜 구현과 능동규칙 탑재 이동에이전트에 대한 실험을 통하여, 제안 시스템이 상황인식 기반 위치서비스의 특성에 따른 시스템 최적화 및 위치 기반 서비스 응용들에 대한 확장성과 유효성이 있음을 검증한다. 제안 시스템은 전력 사용자의 소비 패턴 및 행위 변화에 대한 시스템의 능동적 특성을 통한 자원 활용의 최적화 시스템 구축을 위한 예비 연구로써, 객체 위치 기반의 지능적 경고와 조치를 통한 환경 및 자원 활용 최적화와 다양한 위치서비스 응용 시스템 구축에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있다. Recent research has been actively carried out on systems that want to optimize resource utilization by analyzing the intended behavior and pattern of behavior of objects (users, consumers). A service system that applies information about an object"s location or behavior must include a location trigger processing system for tracking an object"s real-time location. In this paper, we analyze design problems for the implementation of a context-awareness based location trigger system, and present system models based on analysis details. For this purpose, this paper introduces the concept of location trigger for intelligent location tracking techniques about moving situations of objects, and suggests a mobile agent system with active rules that can perform monitoring and appropriate actions based on sensing information and location context information, and uses them to design and implement the location trigger system for context-awareness based location services. The proposed system is verified by implementing location trigger processing scenarios and trigger service and action service protocols. In addition, through experiments on mobile agents with active rules, it is suggested that the proposed system can optimize the role and function of the application system by using rules appropriate to the service characteristics and that it is scalable and effective for location-based service systems. This paper is a preliminary study for the establishment of an optimization system for utilizing resources (equipment, power, manpower, etc.) through the active characteristics of systems such as real-time remote autonomous control and exception handling over consumption patterns and behavior changes of power users. The proposed system can be used in system configurations that induce optimization of resource utilization through intelligent warning and action based on location of objects, and can be effectively applied to the development of various location service systems.

        유비쿼터스 건축공간내에서 적용 가능한 Semantic Location Model에 관한 연구

        Location-aware application 구축에 있어서, Location Model 이 차지하는 비중은 크다. 이는 건축공간 정보의 토폴로지에 대한 Location 정보 구축이 선행되어야 하고 정의된 Location Model 은 개발된 Location-aware application 의 성능에 전반적인 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 특히 건축 공간을 중심으로 구성되는 유비쿼터스 환경에서의 Location Modeling 의 경우에는 물리공간에 대한 충분한 고려가 중요시 된다. 건축공간 내에서 사용자의 위치는 일련의 좌표수치라기 보다는 물리공간의 상황에 따른 의미있는 상대적 위치이기 때문이다. 건축 공간 정보를 이용 및 관리 가능한 구조화된 정보로 구축하기위해서는 복잡한 물리공간에 대한 간략화, 다양한 변화의 대응에 대한 고려, 그리고 각 공간정보의 관계성에 대한 정의가 필요하다. 이와 같은 연구는 전통적으로 CAAD(Computer Aided Architectural Design) 분야에서 활발한 연구가 진행되어 왔고 유비쿼터스 환경 구축을 위하여 효과적으로 이용될 것으로 예상 된다. 본 연구는 CAAD 이론을 기반으로 유비쿼터스 환경 구축에 적용 가능한 Location Model 을 개발하고 이를 효율적으로 사용하는 방법을 탐구한다. Location modeling, a basis of location-aware applications, is a critical area of research in ubiquetous computing and related applications. In particular, location is a key element of contexts in architectural space. It should be defined through the comprehension of the physical environment, as the locations of users or objects are not merely numerical coordinates; they refer to situations related to the physical contexts of the users or objects. In other words, a location model for architectural space should be based on the simplification of the physical environment, the consideration of various changes, and the particular relationships among spatial data. These issues have been studied experimentally in the fields of CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design) research, and the results can be applied to a ubiquitous computing system. This paper draws upon CAAD theory to propose a location model and utilization method for ubiquitous computing in architectural space. At the end of the paper we present the CAAD system "Vitruius", designed to define architectural spaces appropriately and manage them easily for the ubiquitous computing environment.

        IEEE 802.15.4 MAC-based Location-ID Exchange Protocol for Realizing Micro-Cell Connectionless Location-Awareness Services

        We propose ID-exchange protocol for Connectionless Location-Awareness Service (CLAS) to locate mobile nodes in indoor sensor network. When adapting location-awareness service to sensor network, the target system must be designed in accordance with various metrics which reflect the system requirement. We especially consider sustainability of the existing service which has been provided for its original purpose, such as environmental monitoring. The detailed meaning of sustainability here is that, even if location-awareness service is newly added to the existing service, the system must be assured to retain a stable network condition, and to deal with newly caused traffic properly. The CLAS ID-exchange protocol is especially designed for fixture and mobile nodes communication to achieve these properties. The protocol operates on 802.15.4 MAC layer to make mobile node work independently of the procedure to build routing table of fixture node, so a stable routing condition can be achieved even if there are many mobile nodes. Moreover, the dedicated frequency channel is assigned only for this protocol, so that traffic caused by location-awareness service can be distributed to another channel. A real system adapting the protocol was implemented to monitor fire and authorities’ positions. We verified the overhead and elapsed time for location-awareness. The result shows the proposed protocol has a high performance in detecting speed, traffic distribution, and stability of overall network.

        모바일 상황인식 추천맛집 서비스 개발

        Mobile network evolution and development of USN technologies introduce new business model based on context awareness. Cellular operators provide friend finding service using cell based location information and telematics service using GPS location information. Recently cellular operators provide yellow page service based cell based location information. In this paper, we develop mobile tour application on WIPI platform based on location information. Mobile tour information services provide the best information based on context awareness using user location information from LBS(Location Based Service) Platform, season, weather conditions, time from Web server, and personal preference information stored in database. Mobile tour information service application is developed on WIPI platform. 이동통신망 고도화와 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 기술 개발에 따라 상황인지 기반 신규 서비스 모델이 개발되고 있다. 이동통신사업자는 셀 기반의 위치정보를 이용한 친구 찾기 서비스 GPS 위치정보를 이용한 텔레매틱스 서비스 등을 제공하고 있고 최근에는 셀 기반의 위치정보 서비스를 이용한 114 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이동통신망에서 위치정보와 상용자 정보를 이용한 모바일 상황인지 맛집 추천 서비스를 위피 플랫폼을 이용하여 개발하였다. 개발된 모바일 상황인지 맛집 추천 서비스는 이동통신망의 LBS(Location Based Service) 플랫폼으로부터 사용자 위치정보, 유선 웹 서버로부터 계절, 시간, 기상 등의 상황정보, 데이터베이스에 저장된 개인 선호 정보 등을 이용하여 최적의 맛집을 추천한다. 개발된 맛집 추천 서비스는 관광 정보 시스템과 연동하여 텔레매틱스 핵심 서비스로 제공할 수 있다.

        Indoor Passive Location Tracking and Activity Monitoring using WSN for Ubiquitous Healthcare

        Indoor location system using wireless sensor network technology was applied for the status evaluation and activity monitoring of elderly person or chronic invalid at home. Location awareness application is transparent to the daily activities, while providing the embedded computing infrastructure with an awareness of what is happening in this space. To locate an object, the active ceiling-mounted reference beacons were placed throughout the building. Reference beacons periodically publish location information on RF and ultrasonic signals to allow application running on mobile or static nodes to study and determine their physical location. Once object-carried passive listener receives the information, it subsequently determines it's location from reference beacons. By using only the sensor nodes without any external network infrastructure the cost of the system was reduced while the accuracy in our experiments. was fairly good and fine grained between 7 and 15 cm for location awareness in indoor environments. Passive architecture used here provides the security of the user privacy while at the server the privacy was secured by providing the authentication using Geopriv approach. This information from sensor nodes is further forwarded to base station where further computation is performed to determine the current position of object and several applications are enabled for context awareness.

        에너지 저감을 위한 주거공간 내 위치인식기술 적용 광선반 시스템 개발연구

        Light shelf is an efficient system that reduces the energy consumption by bringing the natural light down to the deep spaces inside of a building. However, the existing light shelves have limits in reducing energy usage, because the direction of the light flow is determined by the external environment such as the altitude of the sun and the azimuth. This current study presents a system that increases the efficiency of the light shelf by applying the Location-Awareness technology, in which the efficiency was verified through the performance evaluation. According to the examination of the technology for the Location-Awareness within residential space, ‘Zigbee’ type appears to be the most appropriate. The Location-Awareness technology operates the light shelf based on both the angle control axis and the light shelf angle control axis through the modularization of the reflector surface which is less affected by the external environment. The results of the performance evaluation showed that the movable light shelf that employs the Location-Awareness technology can reduce the energy consumption for lighting by 98.3% compared to the fixed light shelf and by 97.3% compared to the movable light shelf without Location-Awareness.

        모바일 비전 및 위치 데이터 학습에 의한 장소 인식

        위치인식은 정확한 장소기반서비스(LBS)를 위해 필수적인 기술이다. 그러나 일반적으로 널리 활용되는 GPS기반 위치 인식 기술은 GPS신호가 충분히 강한 야외에서만 활용가능하며 실내 혹은 건물 밀집지역과 같은 음영지역에서 적용되는 데에는 한계가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 서포트벡터머신(SVM)을 이용하여 스마트폰에 장착된 카메라와 GPS 센서를 통해 입력받은 영상 데이터와 GPS 좌표의 통합정보로부터 장소를 인식하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법을 평가하기 위해 네 종류의 실내외 장소에서 촬영한 약 4000개의 영상-GPS 데이터로부터 사용자의 현재 장소를 인식하였다. 실험 결과는 제안하는 방법을 통해 위치관련 정보가 없는 상황에서도 영상정보 만으로도 사용자의 현재 장소를 인식하는 것이 가능함을 보여준다. 또한 영상 데이터와 동시에 기록된 GPS 데이터를 SVM에 입력되는 벡터의 가중치로 사용함으로써 인식 정확도를 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. Place awareness (logical location context awareness) is an essential method for a location-based service (LBS) that is widely provided to smartphone users. However, GPS-based place awareness is only valid when not only a user is located at outdoor positions where a GPS signal is strong enough but also the information on the relation between a physical location and a symbolic place is available. Here we propose a novel place awareness method using visual information as well as GPS data. The proposed method predicts the current place of a user from GPS-tagged scene photographs taken by the digital camera equipped in a smartphone. Our method uses a modified support vector machine (SVM) where scene images and GPS coordinates are given as the instances and the weight parameters of the model, respectively, for classifying the place from the scene. We evaluate our method on the place awareness from approximately 4,000 photographs of four places including hallway, classroom, restaurant, and outdoor. Experimental results show that the proposed method can precisely recognize the place with scene photos only when GPS information is not available and the awareness accuracy is improved in the GPSavailable case.

        A CDN-P2P Hybrid Architecture with Location/Content Awareness for Live Streaming Services

        The hybrid architecture of content delivery networks (CDN) and peer-to-peer overlay networks (P2P) is a promising technology enables effective real-time streaming services. It complements the advantages of quality control and reliability in a CDN, and the scalability of a P2P system. With real-time streaming services, however, high connection setup and media delivery latency are becoming the critical issues in deploying the CDN-P2P system. These issues result from biased peer selection without location awareness or content awareness, and can lead to significant service disruption. To reduce service disruption latency, we propose a group-based CDN-P2P hybrid architecture (iCDN-P2P) with a location/content-aware selection of peers. Specifically, a SuperPeer network makes a location-aware peer selection by employing a content addressable network (CAN) to distribute channel information. It also manages peers with content awareness, forming a group of peers with the same channel as the sub-overlay. Through a performance evaluation, we show that the proposed architecture outperforms the original CDN-P2P hybrid architecture in terms of connection setup delay and media delivery time.

        Geohashed Spatial Index Method for a Location-Aware WBAN Data Monitoring System Based on NoSQL

        The exceptional development of electronic device technology, the miniaturization of mobile devices, and the development of telecommunication technology has made it possible to monitor human biometric data anywhere and anytime by using different types of wearable or embedded sensors. In daily life, mobile devices can collect wireless body area network (WBAN) data, and the co-collected location data is also important for disease analysis. In order to efficiently analyze WBAN data, including location information and support medical analysis services, we propose a geohash-based spatial index method for a location-aware WBAN data monitoring system on the NoSQL database system, which uses an R-tree-based global tree to organize the real-time location data of a patient and a B-tree-based local tree to manage historical data. This type of spatial index method is a support cloud-based location-aware WBAN data monitoring system. In order to evaluate the proposed method, we built a system that can support a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and Binary JSON (BSON) document data on mobile gateway devices. The proposed spatial index method can efficiently process location-based queries for medical signal monitoring. In order to evaluate our index method, we simulated a small system on MongoDB with our proposed index method, which is a document-based NoSQL database system, and evaluated its performance.
