본 연구에서는 카본 브러쉬 타입 코로나 방전기의 방전 특성을 실험 및 수치적으로 연구하였다. 카본 브러쉬 방전으로 발생하는 이온에 의한 전류 변화를 채널 바닥에서 유속 유무에 따라 실험하여 측정하였다. 실험 결과는 수치 해석 결과와 비교되고 수치 해석 결과는 실험 결과와 경향 및 크기가 유사하게 나타났다. 방전기 방향에 따른 전류 밀도 분포의 변화를 조사하기 위해 방전기 방향 및 유속 유무에 따른 수치 해석을 수행하고, 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 유속 유무에 따라 전류 밀도 분포가 변화하는 것으로 나타났고, 유속이 존재할 때 이온이 유동을 따라 이동하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 방전기 방향에 따라 바닥에서의 전류 밀도 분포에 차이가 나타났다. In this paper, the discharge characteristics of a carbon brush-type corona discharger were studied experimentally and numerically. The current change due to ions generated by carbon brush discharge was measured experimentally at the bottom of the channel. The experimental results were compared with the numerical results and were found to be similar in trend and magnitude. To investigate the change in the ion charge density distribution, according to the direction of the discharger, numerical analysis was performed with respect to the direction of the discharger, and flow velocity. The charge density distribution was found to change with the velocity, and the ions were found to move downstream of the flow when the flow velocity was present. Furthermore, there was a difference in the distribution of charge density at the bottom, according to the direction of the discharger.

This study has been performed to investigate MRR(metal removal rate) surface roughness with various pulse-on duration using the copper and graphite electrode according to the electrode size on the heat treated STD 11 which is extensively used for metallic molding steel in the EDM. The results obtained are as follow ;a)MRR increases a lot when pulse-on duration is 100 $\mu{s}$ or less but MRR has little difference with pulse-on duration of 100 $\mu{s}$ or more b) According to the increase of Pulse-on duration the large the electrode size the more MRR c) Safe discharge is needed to make maximum of MRR and the metallic organization must be complicated for discharge induction. d) Actual machining time is longer than theoretical machining time at the short pulse-on duration because of skin effect of current. e) Graphite electrode needs the larger electric discharge energy than copper electrode to remove remained chips completely.
파우더 방전가공을 이용한 동전극 유형에 따른 표면현상 변화에 관한 연구

As it has been strongly requested to cut down the price of products for the international competitiveness, the cycle of new product has reduced by the customers' demands on the finishing quality. Hence, we has introduced a new EDM technologies with powders in order to reduce the period of mold development, which increases the machining efficiency by more than 30%. We tested 4 types of copper electrode(oxygen-free copper / precut copper / imprinted copper / forged copper) with the new technologies, then found out the character of each electrode. Under the optimization of machining environment, we tested the quality of surface finish and the machining speed for the most efficient way with the cost reduction.
광폭 전기집진기의 집전특성에 관한 연구 - I. 집진판 간격과 방전극의 영향 -

This study investigates the electrical and collection characteristics of a wide plate spacing electrostatic precipitator (ESP), using a pilot-scale one. Electrical operating characteristics and collection efficiency were measured for various shapes of discharge electrodes. The collection plate spacing ranged from 300 to 550 mm. Results of electrical characteristic and collection efficiency tests as a function of collection plate spacing, discharge electrode type, applied voltage, and particle diameter were obtained. Increasing the collection plate pitch and altering the corona electrode geometry was found to increase the collection efficiencies without increasing input power requirement. The best efficiency is achieved for the discharge electrode of twisted pin type.

As Social Overhead Capital(SOC) has been expanded, the highway road construction has been accelerated and city road system has been more complicated. So, long road tunnels have been increased and traffic flow rate also has been raised. Accordingly, the exhausting gas of vehicle cars seriously deteriorates the tunnel inside air quality and driving view. In order to improve tunnel inside air quality, it is needed to introduce a compulsory ventilation system as well as natural ventilation mechanism. The former, that is, a special compulsory ventilation facility is very useful and helpful to prevent a tunnel of being contaminated by traffic in most case. In the case of obtaining clearer and longer driving view, the ventilation systems have to be considered in order to remove floating contaminants or exhaust gas from engines. In this paper, discharge electrode design technology will be discussed.

This study has been performed to investigate REW(relative electrode wear) in condition of vari-ous pulse-on duration using the copper and graphite electrode with change of the electrode size on the heat treated STD11 which is extensively used for metallic molding steel with the EDM. The results obtained are as follows; a) Graphite has much benefits than copper electrode when rapid machining is done without electrode wear, b) Neative REW result from the electrode that is very liable attach to decomposition carbide c)Increasing of machining time cause to increase wear length of the copper electrode and decrease wear length of the graphite electorde d)The more pulse-on duration copper electrode has the less REW. e) The edge portion of the electorde wears remarkably at the beginning of machining,.

In this study, the characteristics of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) with the electrode materials were investigated. EDM experiments have been carried out on electrodes with eight different copper-based and graphite-based materials. From the results, the copper-based electrodes showed excellent surface roughness than the graphite-based electrodes. But graphite based electrodes have advantages in economic aspects.
