LMI Stability Criterion with Less Variables for Time-delay Systems

        Xun-Lin Zhu,Tao Li,Chong Lin,Lei Guo,Guang-Hong Yang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2009 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.7 No.4

Slack variables approach is an important technique for tackling the delay-dependent stability problem for systems with time-varying delay. In this paper, a new delay-dependent stability criterion is presented without introducing any slack variable. The technique is based on a simply integral inequal-ity. The result is shown to be equivalent to some existing ones but includes the least number of vari-ables. Thus, redundant selection and computation can be avoided so that the computational burden can be largely reduced. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed stabil-ity conditions.

      • Optimal Selection of Encode Rate and the Number of Frequency Slots in ISA-MAC

        Song, Zhu-xun,Wang Wei-quan,Mao Xiao-fei 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.9

In actual system, it’s a quite attractive character that one can access the channel as he wants. This paper bases on earlier ideal named ISA-MAC(Instantaneous Spectrum Availability MAC) which is promoted and listed in a paper reference [1], and focus on the optimal encode rate and the number of frequency slots of ISA-MAC. Take the probability of no-error channel transmission and the normalized throughput of the system as constrained condition, an analysis come out and be taken as a guide for reality design which is found on the mathematic model and the capability of error detection and correction, and can be adapted to CSMA, ALOHA using FH similar to ISA-MAC which is designed for fulfilling the requirement of accessing at any moment.

Enhanced efficiency of white polymer light-emitting diodes with inorganic nanodots

        조성민,Xun Zhu,Dong-Hyun Lee,채희엽 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.2

Enhanced efficiency of white polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) was observed by incorporating polysilicic acid (PSA) nanodots into the hole-injection layer (HIL). The PLEDs employed three different phosphorescent dyes in a single emissive layer with a host polymer of poly(vinylcarbazole) (PVK). The optimal composition of the phosphorescent dyes has been found to accomplish the white emission. By incorporating 1.5 wt% of PSA nanodots into the HIL, the maximum efficiency has been found to increase about 65%, from 13.7 cd/A to 22.9 cd/A. This remarkable improvement in efficiency may be attributed to the introduction of the PSA nanodots, which leads to the better carrier balance in the PLEDs.

Comparing Outcomes of Banana-Shaped and Straight Cages in Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion for Lumbar Degenerative Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Guang-Xun Lin,Li-Ru He,Jin-Niang Nan,Wen-Bin Xu,Keyi Xiao,Zhiqiang Que,Shang-Wun Jhang,Chien-Min Chen,Ming-Tao Zhu,Gang Rui 대한척추신경외과학회 2024 Neurospine Vol.21 No.1

Objective: This meta-analysis aims to refine the understanding of the optimal choice between different cage shapes in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) by systematically comparing perioperative data, radiological outcomes, clinical results, and complications associated with banana-shaped and straight bullet cages. Methods: A meticulous literature search encompassing PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, China Knowledge Network, and Wanfang Data was executed up to October 5, 2023. Inclusion criteria focused on studies comparing banana-shaped and straight bullet cages in TLIF. The quality of included studies was assessed using appropriate tools such as the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) for nonrandomized studies. Rigorous evaluations were performed for radiographic outcomes, including disc height (DH), segmental lordosis (SL), lumbar lordosis (LL), subsidence, and fusion rates. Clinical outcomes were meticulously evaluated using visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and complications. Results: The analysis incorporated 7 studies, involving 573 patients (297 with banana-shaped cages, 276 with straight cages), all with NOS ratings exceeding 5 stars. No statistically significant differences were observed in operative time, blood loss, or hospitalization between the 2 cage shapes. Banana-shaped cages exhibited greater changes in DH (p = 0.001), SL (p = 0.02), and LL (p = 0.01). Despite statistically higher changes in ODI for straight cages (26.33, p < 0.0001), the actual value remained similar to banana-shaped cages (26.15). Both cage types demonstrated similar efficacy in VAS, complication rates, subsidence, and fusion rates. Conclusion: Although banana-shaped cages can excel in restoring DH, SL, and LL, straight bullet cages can provide comparable functional improvements, pain relief, and complication rates.

UDP-glycosyltransferase gene family expansion and functional perspectives in five tenebrionid beetles

        Li Xun,Yang Yanlin,Wei Shujun,Zhu Jia-Ying 한국응용곤충학회 2024 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.27 No.2

UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) are widely distributed biotransformation enzymes crucial for various physio logical processes. Through genomic analysis, 216 UGT genes were identified in five tenebrionoid beetles: Tebebrio molitor (46), Tribolium castaneum (43), Asbolus verrucosus (30), Hycleus cichorii (60), and Hycleus pha leratus (37), classified into 14 families, with 13 being coleopteran-specific. Lineage-specific expansion of the UGT321, UGT323, UGT324, and UGT347 families was observed, with evidence of gene duplications within these families. Notably, phytophagous blister beetles showed higher UGT321 gene counts compared to omnivorous darkling beetles, while UGT324 family expansion was noted in the latter. Investigation of temporal and tissuespecific UGT gene expression in T. molitor revealed over 60% of TmUGTs were highly expressed in the salivary gland, fat body, midgut, and Malpighian tubule, indicating roles in metabolism and detoxification. Particularly, UGT321 family members exhibited high expression across various tissues, suggesting diverse functions, including potential involvement in olfaction and detoxification. These findings emphasize the multifunctionality of UGTs and provide a basis for further research, utilizing T. molitor as a model organism.

Selection and evaluation of reference genes for quantitative gene expression studies in cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

        Muhammad Shakeel,Xun Zhu,Tinghao Kang,Hu Wan,Jian Hong Li 한국응용곤충학회 2015 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.18 No.2

An efficient technique for investigating gene expression is the real time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR). Despite the fact that this technique has been extensively used to explore the gene function in Helicoverpa armigera, stability of the reference genes still requires validation. This research aims to validate the stability of expression of nine potential reference genes under different experimental conditions including temperature, mechanical injury, starvation, photoperiod, and developmental stage. An exhaustive system (RefFinder), available online, was employed to evaluate and grade the studied genes. Appropriateness of the reference genes as endogenous controls was determined through four computational algorithms (ΔCt, NormFinder, BestKeeper, and geNorm). According to the findings of this study, RPL28 and RPS15 were found to be the most stable reference genes in case of starved larvae, temperature stressed larvae, and different developmental stages. On the other hand, HSP90 and TUBB proved to be highly stable in case of photoperiod stressed larvae. Finally, TUBB and GAPDH were the most stable reference genes in case of larvae subjected to mechanical injury. These results can facilitate development of a standardized qRT-PCR technique and can also prove to be helpful for standard RT-PCR method which need reference gene for normalization.

      • Conventional Ultrasonography and Real Time Ultrasound Elastography in the Differential Diagnosis of Degenerating Cystic Thyroid Nodules Mimicking Malignancy and Papillary Thyroid Carcinomas

        Wu, Hong-Xun,Zhang, Bing-Jie,Wang, Jun,Zhu, Bei-Lin,Zang, Ya-Ping,Cao, Yue-Long Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Background: To evaluate the diagnostic utility of conventional ultrasonography and real time ultrasound elastography in differentiating degenerating cystic thyroid nodules mimicking malignancy from papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed conventional ultrasonographic and elastographic characteristics of 19 degenerating cystic thyroid nodules mimicking malignancy in 19 patients, with 30 surgically confirmed PTCs as controls. Based on size, the nodules had been grouped into less than 10mm (group A) and greater than 10 mm (group B). We evaluated conventional parameters and elasticity pattern. Color-scaled elastograms were graded as to stiffness of nodules using an elasticity pattern from I (soft) to IV (stiff). Results: Degenerating cystic thyroid nodules were similar to PTCs in conventional ultrasonographic findings, but the former frequently showed oval to round in shape (group A, 69.2% vs 18.8%, P=0.017; group B, 66.7% vs 7.14%, P=0.017) and punctuate hyperechoic foci (group A, 61.5% vs 0, P<0.001; group B, 50% vs 0, P<0.001). On real time ultrasound elastography, 7 of 13 degenerating cystic thyroid nodules in group A were pattern I, 5 were pattern II, 1 was pattern III. One degenerating cystic thyroid nodule in group B was pattern II, 5 were pattern III. The area under the curve for elastography was 0.98 in group A (sensitivity 92.3%, specificity 100%, P = 0.002), and 0.88 in group B (sensitivity 16.7%, specificity 100%, P = 0.014). Conclusions: As a dependable imaging technique, elastography helps increase the performance in differential diagnosis of degenerating cystic thyroid nodule and malignancy.

NMAAP1 Expressed in BCG-Activated Macrophage Promotes M1 Macrophage Polarization

        Qihui Liu,Xun Zhu,Yuan Tian,Xiangfeng Zhao,Haifeng Jing,Qi Xie,Peng Li,Dong Li,Dongmei Yan 한국분자세포생물학회 2015 Molecules and cells Vol.38 No.10

Macrophages are divided into two subpopulations: classically activated macrophages (M1) and alternatively activated macrophages (M2). BCG (Bacilli Calmette-Guérin) activates disabled naïve macrophages to M1 macrophages, which act as inflammatory, microbicidal and tumoricidal cells through cell-cell contact and/or the release of soluble factors. Various transcription factors and signaling pathways are involved in the regulation of macrophage activation and polarization. We discovered that BCG-activated macrophages (BAM) expressed a new molecule, and we named it Novel Macrophage Activated Associated Protein 1 (NMAAP1). 1 The current study found that the overexpression of NMAAP1 in macrophages results in M1 polarization with increased expression levels of M1 genes, such as inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 12 (IL-12), Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and decreased expression of some M2 genes, such as Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1), but not other M2 genes, including arginase-1 (Arg-1), Interleukin (IL-10), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) and found in inflammatory zone 1 (Fizz1). Moreover, NMAAP1 overexpression in the RAW264.7 cell line increased cytotoxicity against MCA207 tumor cells, which depends on increased inflammatory cytokines rather than cell-cell contact. NMAAP1 also substantially enhanced the phagocytic ability of macrophages, which implies that NMAAP1 promoted macrophage adhesive and clearance activities. Our results indicate that NMAAP1 is an essential molecule that modulates macrophages phenotype and plays an important role in macrophage tumoricidal functions.
