Sensitivity of Extreme Temperature Events to Urbanization in the Pearl River Delta Region
Zhixiang Xiao,Ziqian Wang,Weijuan Pan,Yongli Wang,Song Yang 한국기상학회 2019 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.55 No.3
The urbanization effect on extreme temperature related to heat wave events in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) of China is investigated using a regional model. Several experiments with different urbanization levels are carried out. Results indicate that the air temperature of heat wave events is sensitive to urban land cover and the urbanized warming intensifies along with urban expansion. The regional model performs better on the simulations of maximum and minimum 2-m air temperature when urban land cover is close to the observed value. Because of the urbanization effect, the surface skin temperature shows a maximum warming (~2.5 °C) at daytime, while the maximum warming of 2-m air temperature (~1.5 °C) occurs at nighttime. Consequently, an increased (a decreased) diurnal range in surface skin temperature (2-m air temperature) is induced. According to the diagnostic equations, the 2-m air temperature is not only related to surface skin temperature, but also regulated by surface sensible heat flux. At daytime, although the increased solar absorption and the decreased upward latent heat flux (due to the deficit of surface evaporation) sharply enhance the surface skin temperature in the higher urbanization experiment, the simultaneously increased sensible heat flux suppresses the 2-m air temperature. At nighttime, however, the difference in surface sensible heat flux is relatively small, thus 2-m air temperature largely depends on surface skin temperature influenced by ground heat release. This study emphasizes the different variations and physical mechanisms of surface skin temperature and 2-m air temperature under the urbanization in the PRD region.

Fe-doped g-C 3 N 4 has been proven to have the potential of visible light photocatalysis, but its catalytic activity of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) is neglected. Herein, the complex advanced oxidation processes of Fe-g-C 3 N 4 mediated PMS and visible light photocatalysis was developed, named as Vis/Fe-g-C 3 N 4 /PMS system, whose eff ects and synergistic mechanism for decomposing Rhodamine B (RhB) was evaluated. The coupling of sulfate radicals and photocatalysis for RhB degradation showed that the synergistic effi ciency ( η Syn ) and factor ( S c ) were 20.1% and 4.82, respectively, with a degradation effi ciency of 99.8%. Iron species dispersed on g-C 3 N 4 provided active sites for PMS activation to generate sulfate radicals, simultaneously reduced the forbidden band, and separated the photo-generated charges of g-C 3 N 4 . h + , SO 4 · ‾ and 1 O 2 were the main active species, and the increase of 1 O 2 was the cause of the synergistic eff ect. The possible degradation path of RhB by this coupling system was proposed. Our fi ndings prove that Vis/Fe-g-C 3 N 4 /PMS system has a great potential to decompose dye wastewater, and also to be an environmental remediation perspective.

Magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4 nanoparticles that were prepared via the rapid combustion process were functionalized and modified to obtain magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4@SiO2-CHO nanocomposites, on which penicillin G acylase (PGA) was covalently immobilized. Selections of immobilization concentration and time of fixation were explored. Catalytic performance of immobilized PGA was characterized. The free PGA had greatest activity at pH 8.0 and 45 ℃ while immobilized PGA’s a ctivities p eaked at p H 7.5 and 4 5 ℃. Immobilized PGA had better thermal stability than free PGA at the range of 30-50 ℃ for different time intervals. The activity of free PGA would be 0 and that of immobilized PGA still retained some activities at 60 ℃ after 2 h. Vmax and Km of immobilized PGA were 1.55 mol/min and 0.15 mol/l, respectively. Free PGA’s Vmax and Km separately were 0.74 mol/min and 0.028 mol/l. Immobilized PGA displayed more than 50% activity after 10 successive cycles. We concluded that immobilized PGA with magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4@SiO2-CHO nanocomposites could become a novel example for the immobilization of other amidohydrolases.
Global Attractivity and Oscillations in a Nonlinear Impulsive Parabolic Equation with Delay
Wang, Xiao,Li, Zhixiang Department of Mathematics 2008 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.48 No.4
Global attractivity and oscillatory behavior of the following nonlinear impulsive parabolic differential equation which is a general form of many population models $$\array{\{{{\frac {{\partial}u(t,x)}{{\partial}t}=\Delta}u(t,x)-{\delta}u(t,x)+f(u(t-\tau,x)),\;t{\neq}t_k,\\u(t^+_k,x)-u(t_k,x)=g_k(u(t_k,x)),\;k{\in}I_\infty,}\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;(*)$$ are considered. Some new sufficient conditions for global attractivity and oscillation of the solutions of (*) with Neumann boundary condition are established. These results no only are true but also improve and complement existing results for (*) without diffusion or impulses. Moreover, when these results are applied to the Nicholson's blowflies model and the model of Hematopoiesis, some new results are obtained.
Development of Array-based Technology for Detection of HAV Using Gold-DNA Probes
Wan, Zhixiang,Wang, Yefu,Li, Shawn Shun-Cheng,Duan, Lianlian,Zhai, Jianxin Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2005 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.38 No.4
A sensitive method for detection of Hepatitis A virus (HAV) by utilizing gold-DNA probe on an array was developed. Amino- modified oligodeoxynucleotides at the 5' position were arrayed on an activated glass surface to function as capture probes. Sandwich hybridization occurred among capture probes, the HAV amplicon, and gold nanoparticle-supported oligonucleotide probes. After a silver enhancement step, signals were detected by a standard flatbed scanner or just by naked eyes. As little as 100 fM of HAV amplicon could be detected on the array. Therefore, the array technology is an alternative to be applied in detection of HAV due to its low-cost and high-sensitivity.

In view of the low pointing accuracy problem of the hanging wire weight control method adopted in current mechanical arm control, for the control of the mechanical arm, a mechanical intelligent arm position control method based on continuous trajectory point control is proposed to improve the control accuracy of mechanical intelligent arm. The kinematic behavior planning model of the mechanical arm in six degree of freedom motion space is constructed. The end-effect inverse kinematics decomposition method is used to obtain the vector set of mechanical arm joint rotation. The parametric self-tuning regulation is used to control parameters optimization. Continuous trajectory point control method is adopted to improve the accuracy of mechanical intelligent arm position change and achieve high-precision arm control. Simulation results show that six degree of freedom mechanical intelligent arm accuracy control has higher precision, minimized convergence error and higher robustness with this control method.

To avoid the cracks of cast-in-place concrete in shear pockets and seams in the traditional composite beam with precast decks, this paper proposed a new type of prefabricated steel truss-concrete composite beam (ab. PSTC beam) with pre-embedded shear studs (ab. PSS connector). To study the initial cracking load of concrete deck, the development and distribution laws of the cracks, 3 PSTC beams were tested under hogging moment. And the crack behavior of the deck was compared with traditional precast composite beam, which was assembled by shear pockets and cast-in-place joints. Results show that: (i) the initial crack appears on the deck, thus avoid the appearance of the cracks in the traditional shear pockets; (ii) the crack of the seam appears later than that of the deck, which verifies the reliability of epoxy cement mortar seam, thus solves the complex structure and easily crack behavior of the traditional cast-in-place joints; (iii) the development and the distribution laws of the cracks in PSTC beam are different from the conventional composite beam. Therefore, in the deduction of crack calculation theory, all the above factors should be considered.

MicroRNAs are small, non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally and have crucial roles in plant biological and metabolic processes. To date, there has been no report concerning miRNAs in Xanthoceras sorbifolia, one of the most important woody energy plants for biofuel production. To study the roles of miRNAs during floral organ differentiation and development in X. sorbifolia, two small RNA libraries were constructed from the flower buds of simple flowers (wild-type) and double flowers (mutant). Each library was sequenced individually and generated over 33 million raw reads in total. Forty-three conserved miRNAs belonging to 30families and 10 novel miRNAs were identified. The expressions of a selected group of conserved and novel miRNAs were validated by qRT-PCR. Target gene prediction identified 230 target genes for most of the conserved and novel miRNAs. Fifteen miRNAs were demonstrated to be differentially ex-pressed between wild-type and mutant. This is the first study to identify conserved and novel miRNAs and profile their expression changes during floral organ differentiation and development in X. sorbifolia.
