      • Exploring the Creeping Landslide Characteristics Based on the Time Series InSAR in the Xianshuihe Fault Zone, Southwest China

        The Xianshuihe Fault in the southwest China presents strong activities Since the Holocene. Under the joint action of strong earthquakes, fault activities and heavy rainfall, the landslides have shown high development intensity in the Xianshuihe fault zone and bring a serious threat to the safety of human life and property. In this study, the SBAS-InSAR method and ALOS PALSAR data (15 scenes) are used to calculate and analyze the deformation characteristics of the creeping landslide between 2007 and 2011. The results show that the active effect of the Xianshuihe Fault has an important influence on the landslide development and occurrence. The closer distance to the Xianshuihe Fault is, the more stable coherent points is, the greater landslide cumulative displacement is. A total of 98 creeping landslides in the Xianshuihe Fault zone are identified, which develop as a linear distribution on both sides of the Xianshuihe Fault. And, the surface deformation and development characteristics of several typical creeping landslides are analyzed in-depth. So, the InSAR method can be used to effectively analyze the slow surface deformation, change laws and development characteristics of creeping landslide in the active fault zone. The study results have a certain guiding role on the landslide prevention and mitigation along the Xianshuihe Fault zone and the similar tectonic activity area.

        Current Status of Opportunistic Infection in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients in Asia: A Questionnaire-Based Multicenter Study

        Background/Aims: Opportunistic infection in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has become a serious problem. However, its status of doctors’ opinions and test equipment in hospitals are unclear. The aim of the study was to investigate these issues to improve the prognosis of IBD patients. Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study was conducted by 83 investigators who were members of the Asian Organization for Crohn’s and Colitis. Data on opportunistic infection were collected from hospital databases between January 2017 and December 2017. The survey consisted of 11 items. Results: Most physicians appreciated the diagnostic value of tissue cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA, accounting for 86.1% of members in China, 37.5% in Japan, 52.9% in South Korea, and 66.7% in Southeast Asia. Only 83.1% of hospitals had the ability to test for CMV immunohistochemistry in Asia. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) screening was recommended by all members. However, only 66.7% in China, 70.6% in South Korea, and 66.7% in Southeast Asia agreed to routinely vaccinate IBD patients when HBsAg tested negative. Most members preferred metronidazole (74.7%) as the first choice for patients with Clostridium difficile infection. However, the proportion of stool C. difficile toxin test was lower in China than in other areas (75.0% in China vs 95.8% in Japan and 100% in South Korea and Southeast Asia, p<0.05). Conclusions: Opportunistic infection from CMV, hepatitis B virus, and C. difficile should be of high concern for IBD patients. More efforts are needed, such as understanding consensus in clinical practice and improving testing facilities in hospitals.

        Experimental study on seismic behavior of two-storey modular structure

        Due to the unique construction method of modular steel buildings (MSBs) with units prefabricated fully off the site and assembled quickly on the site, the inter-module connection for easy operation and overall performance of the system were key issues. However, it was a lack of relevant research on the system-level performance of MSBs. This study investigated the seismic performance of two-storey modular steel structure with a proposed vertical rotary inter-module connection. Three full-scale quasi-static tests, with and without corrugated steel plate and its combination, were carried out to evaluate and compare their seismic behaviour. The hysteretic performance, skeleton curves, ductile performance, stiffness degradation, energy dissipation capacity, and deformation pattern were clarified. The results showed that good ductility and plastic deformation ability of such modular steel structures. Two lateral-force resistance mechanisms with different layout combinations were also discussed in detail. The corrugated steel plate could significantly improve the lateral stiffness and bearing capacity of the modular steel structure. The cooperative working mechanism of modules and inter-module connections was further analyzed. When the lateral stiffness of upper and lower modular structures was close, limited bending moment transfer may be considered for the inter-module connection. While a large lateral stiffness difference existed initially between the upper and lower structures, an obvious gap occurred at the inter-module connection, and this gap may significantly influence the bending moments transferred by the inter-module connections. Meanwhile, several design recommendations of inter-module connections were also given for the application of MSBs.

        Mechanism underlying the effect of conventional drying on the grinding characteristics of Ximeng lignite

        Same amounts of moisture were removed from Ximeng lignite (XL) with different particle size ranges pretreated at different drying temperatures. The effect of conventional drying on the grindability of the XLs was investigated. Increasing the drying temperature improved the grindability of all the samples. The results of scanning electron microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry revealed that the dominant mechanism enhancing the grindability of XL with high moisture was the pore structure destruction induced by the steam jet flow generated with the removal of moisture. Especially, the development of large fractures had a strong connection with the change in the grindability. According to the pore size distribution, the internal structure of the 2.5-4.0mm coal samples did not develop well under high drying temperature because of the exceedingly short heating time. Therefore, coal particle size, drying temperature, and heating time must be coordinated well to achieve the enhanced drying effect. The grindability of XL had a negative linear correlation with the pore volume fractal dimension, revealing the possibility of fractal dimension for the analysis of lignite grindability.

        IMPROVED HYBRID A-STAR ALGORITHM FOR PATH PLANNING IN AUTONOMOUS PARKING SYSTEM BASED ON MULTI-STAGE DYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION

        The recent proliferation of intelligent technologies has promoted autonomous driving. The autonomous parking system has become a popular feature in autonomous driving. Hybrid A-star algorithm is a commonly used path planning algorithm for its simplicity to deploy and the good characteristics of the generated paths in the practical engineering. To further enhance the path safety and efficiency of path planning in the autonomous parking system, this paper proposes an improved hybrid A-star algorithm through the safety-enhanced design and the efficiency-enhanced design. The safety-enhanced design integrates the Voronoi field potential into the path searching stage to take more account of path safety. The efficiency-enhanced design proposes a multi-stage dynamic optimization strategy which divides the path planning into multiple stages and performs dynamic optimization in each stage. Through simulation experiments, it is verified that the proposed improved algorithm not only generates a much safer path which stays farther from the obstacles but also significantly improves the searching efficiency in terms of time and space, merely at a finite cost of pre-processing work which can also be repeatedly utilized. We hope this paper will promote relative research on path planning in autonomous parking and serve as a reference for the practical engineering.

        Calculation Theory and Experimental Study of the K6 Single-layer Reticulated Shell

        A new approach named Cross-Section Method, based on membrane force transfer mechanism, for calculating internal forcesof diagonal members in a single-layer reticulated shell is presented in this paper. Relevant problems in the process of calculatingthe internal force by Cross-Section Method are elaborated, including determination of geometric parameters of a K6 singlelayerreticulated shell, establishment of equilibrium equations and analogy methods for calculating stiffness of spring supports. Stiffness matrixes of link members and the overall structure in spherical coordinates are derived based on spatial position ofeach member in a K6 single-layer reticulated shell. Static experiments under full-span loads and half-span loads with a 1/10scale model of a K6 single-layer reticulated shell, adopted in a stadium located in Chiping, Shandong, were conducted. Adetailed contrast of results obtained through experiments, Cross-Section Method and FEM is presented. The internal forcecalculated by Cross-Section Method is close to FEM results, thus verifying the membrane force transfer mechanism andapplicability of Cross-Section Method in the single-layer reticulated shell. Though experimental errors are inevitable due tocorrosion of some members in the model, experimental results show approximately the same tendency. Also, the results suggestthat the structural behavior under half-span loads is more unfavorable compared with full-span loads.
