Tang, Qiong-Lan,Jiang, Xue-Feng,Yuan, Xiao-Ping,Liu, Yong,Zhang, Lin,Tang, Xiao-Feng,Zhou, Jia-Jia,Li, Hai-Gang,Fang, Jian-Pei,Xue, Lin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.21
Background: Primary vaginal yolk sac tumor is a rare malignancy in the pediatric population, and a diagnostic challenge and appropriate initial treatment remains unsolved. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinicopathologic features, treatment and prognosis of this tumor. Materials and Methods: Eight cases of primary vaginal yolk sac tumor were reported with a literature review. Results: There were 4 pure yolk sac tumor cases and four mixed germ cell tumors containing yolk sac tumor element, including two cases with embryonal carcinoma and two cases with embryonal carcinoma and dysgerminoma. Partial vaginectomy was performed in four cases and all patients received chemotherapy. 85 cases in literatures were reviewed and 9 cases were misdiagnosed. Follow-up data was available in 77 cases and 5-year overall survival rate was 87.6%. 5-year survival rate of biopsy with chemotherapy, conservative surgery with chemotherapy and radical surgery with chemotherapy was 91.1%, 100% and 28.6%, respectively (p<0.001). Compared to cases without relapse or metastasis after initial treatment, patients with relapse or metastasis had a shorter overall survival (35.6% vs 96.6%, p<0.001). Conclusions: Mixed germ cell tumor containing yolk sac tumor element was not uncommon and partial vaginectomy may be a good choice for primary vaginal mixed yolk sac tumor type to eradicate local tumor cells and provide complete information for pathological diagnosis and postoperative adjuvant therapy.
Static bending study of AFG nanobeam using local stress-and strain-driven nonlocal integral models
Yuan Tang,Hai Qing Techno-Press 2024 Advances in nano research Vol.16 No.3
In this paper, the problem of static bending of axially functionally graded (AFG) nanobeam is formulated with the local stress(Lσ)- and strain-driven(εD) two-phase local/nonlocal integral models (TPNIMs). The novelty of the present study aims to compare the size-effects of nonlocal integral models on bending deflections of AFG Euler-Bernoulli nano-beams. The integral relation between strain and nonlocal stress components based on two types nonlocal integral models is transformed unitedly and equivalently into differential form with constitutive boundary conditions. Purely LσD- and εD-NIMs would lead to ill-posed mathematical formulation, and Purely εD- and LσD-nonlocal differential models (NDM) may result in inconsistent size-dependent bending responses. The general differential quadrature method is applied to obtain the numerical results for bending deflection and moment of AFG nanobeam subjected to different boundary and loading conditions. The influence of AFG index, nonlocal models, and nonlocal parameters on the bending deflections of AFG Euler-Bernoulli nanobeams is investigated numerically. A consistent softening effects can be obtained for both LσD- and εD-TPNIMs. The results from current work may provide useful guidelines for designing and optimizing AFG Euler-Bernoulli beam based nano instruments.

Recent clinical research has revealed that mechanical ventilation (MV) can initiate pulmonary fibrosis and induce mechanical ventilation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (MVPF). However, the underlying mechanism remains largely uncharacterized. Based on a mouse model of MVPF and an alveolar epithelial cell cyclic strain model, the present study explores the possible mechanism of MVPF. Single-cell RNA-sequencing and EV RNA-sequencing analysis revealed that MV promoted apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1)-mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway activation and extracellular vesicle (EV) release from alveolar epithelial cells. Furthermore, the ASK1-ER stress pathway was shown to mediate mechanical stretch (MS)- or MV-induced EV release and lung fibroblast activation in vivo and in vitro. These processes were suppressed by ER stress inhibitors or by silencing ASK1 with ASK1- short hairpin RNA (shRNA). In addition, MVPF was suppressed by inhibiting ASK1 and ER stress in vivo. Therefore, the present study demonstrates that ASK1-ER stress pathway-mediated fibrotic-EV release from alveolar epithelial cells contributes to fibroblast activation and the initiation of pulmonary fibrosis during MV. The inhibited release of EVs targeting the ASK1-ER stress pathway might be a promising treatment strategy for MVPF.
Tip Position Control of a Flexible-Link Manipulator with Neural Networks
Yuan-Gang Tang,Fu-Chun Sun,Zeng-Qi Sun,Ting-Liang Hu 대한전기학회 2006 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.4 No.3
To control the tip position of a flexible-link manipulator;a neural network (NN) controller is proposed in this paper. The dynamics error used to construct NN controller is derived based on output redefinition approach. Without the filtered tracking en-or;the proposed NN controller can still guarantee the closed-loop system uniformly asymptotically stable as well as NN weights bounded. Furthermore;the tracking error of desired trajectory can converge to zero with the proposed controller. For comparison an NN controller with filtered tracking en-or is also designed for the flexible-link manipulator. Finally;simulation studies are carried out to verify the theoretic results.
Optimization of impulse water turbine based on GA-BP neural network arithmetic
Lingdi Tang,Shouqi Yuan,Yue Tang,Zhipeng Qiu 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.1
To develop an optimum design method for impulse water turbines with low specific speed, a representative impulse water turbine with low specific speed used in agricultural irrigation machinery was optimized with a combination of an orthogonal experimental design, a genetic algorithm, and a BP neural network in this study. Numerical calculation was applied to analyze interflow characteristics for optimized and original water turbines. Results showed that the internal flow characteristics of the optimized water turbine presented remarkable improvement compared with the original water turbine. Pressure distribution increased, the vortex strip in the draft tube was reduced remarkably, and impeller torque increased by 26 %. In addition, the optimized impeller was manufactured by 3D printing, and performance comparison was conducted between experiments of the optimized and original water turbines. The efficiency of the optimized water turbine reached 42.5 %, which exceeded the original water turbine’s of 8.5 %. With increasing rotating speed, maximum efficiency running point moved to a high flow rate, and highly efficient areas expanded. Internal characteristic analysis and a full-scale experiment for both water turbines showed that the performance of the optimized water turbine exhibited substantial improvement. The analysis and experiment also verified the theoretical correctness and feasibility of the proposed optimum design method.
OK-432 Suppresses Proliferation and Metastasis by Tumor Associated Macrophages in Bladder Cancer
Tian, Yuan-Feng,Tang, Kun,Guan, Wei,Yang, Tao,Xu, Hua,Zhuang, Qian-Yuan,Ye, Zhang-Qun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.11
OK-432, a Streptococcus-derived anticancer immunotherapeutic agent, has been applied in clinic for many years and achieved great progress in various cancers. In the present study, we investigated its anticancer effect on bladder cancer through tumor associated macrophages (TAMs). MTS assay validated OK-432 could inhibit proliferation in both T24 and EJ bladder cell lines. OK-432 also induced apoptosis of bladder cancer cells in vitro. Consequently, we demonstrated that OK-432 could suppress the bladder cancer cells migration and invasion by altering the EMT-related factors. Furthermore, using SD rat model, we revealed that OK-432 inhibited tumor growth, suppressed PCNA expression and inhibited metastasis in vivo. Taken together, these findings strongly suggest that OK-432 inhibits cell proliferation and metastasis through inducing macrophages to secret cytokines in bladder cancer.
Expert Perceptual Behavior under the Spatiotemporal Visual Constraints in Table Tennis
Ming-Yuan Tang,Chih-Mei Yang,Hank Jun-Ling Jwo 대한운동학회 2021 아시아 운동학 학술지 Vol.23 No.3
[OBJECTIVES] The perceptual ability to detect movement is essential for expert table tennis players. A spatiotemporal occlusion paradigm was employed to examine the critical information that facilitates athletes’ perception. [METHODS] Thirty-one expert table tennis players, 29 participants and 2 demonstrators, volunteered to participate in the study. Four types of temporal conditions and five types of spatial occlusions were displayed in experimental videos of two opponents playing a table tennis forehand stroke. Period t1-4 represented the four temporal conditions, with 250, 500, 750, and 1000 ms of action being occluded, respectively. The five types of spatial occlusion involved showing the kinematics of only the ball, paddle, arm, trunk, or head. The participants were instructed to judge the landing direction of the ball on the basis of the information in the footage. [RESULTS] The footage depicted the longest period of play. Furthermore, in separate trials, the spatial information (for the ball, torso, or head) was missing because of occlusion. The absence of such critical spatiotemporal information impaired the ability of players to make an accurate prediction. [CONCLUSION] Players obtained crucial spatiotemporal information if the timeframe of the video was relatively complete and spatial information on the opponent’s torso and head was available. For peak performance, expert table tennis players perceive and detect the optical flow of the ball’s flight and consider invariant information concerning their opponent’s torso and head.
