<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Six field foot-and-mouth disease viruses (FMDVs), including four serotype O and two serotype Asia 1 strains, were collected from endemic outbreaks in 2005, 2006, and 2007 from four different provinces in Vietnam. The viruses were isolated and genetically characterized for their complete genomic sequences. The genetic analysis based on the complete genomic coding sequences revealed that the four serotype O FMDVs were related to each other, sharing 95.2% nucleotide (nt) identity and 97.5–97.6% amino acid (aa) identity. Genetic analysis and a phylogenetic tree, based on the VP1 gene of FMDV, showed that the four present Vietnamese serotype O strains have a high level of identity with other serotype O representatives of the Mya-98 lineage of the Southeast Asian (SEA) topotype. The four viruses were all clustered into the Mya-98 lineage of the SEA topotype, sharing 92.3–95.6% nt and 93.4–96.7% aa identity. This finding of the Mya-98 lineage was different from previous reports that the Vietnamese serotype O strains belonged to the Cam-94 lineage of the SEA topotype and two other topotypes, Middle East-South Asia (ME-SA) and Cathay. For the two serotype Asia 1 FMDVs, the genetic analysis based on the complete genomic coding sequences as well as on the VP1 gene revealed that they belonged to two genogroups, IV and V. Of note, the As1/VN/QT03/2007 strain of genogroup V, isolated in 2007, was very closely related to the pandemic Asia 1 strain which caused FMD outbreaks in China (Asia1/WHN/CHA/06, FJ906802) and Mongolia (Asia1/MOG/05, EF614458) in 2005, sharing 99.0–99.3% nt and 99.5–100% aa identity. In contrast, the second strain As1/VN/LC04/2005 of genogroup IV, isolated in 2005, was closely related to all referenced Vietnamese serotype Asia 1 strains found in the GenBank databases, sharing 86.4–100% nt and 90.9–100% aa identity with each. This study is the first description of the full-length genomic sequence of Vietnamese FMDV serotypes O and Asia 1 and may provide the evidence of the concurrent circulation of different serotypes and subtypes of FMDV in recent years in Vietnam.</P>
Efficacy and Quality Assessment of Methyl Bromide Alternatives for Export Strawberry
Bong-Su KIM,Dong-Hun Cho,Young-Mi Moon,Byung-Ho Lee 한국응용곤충학회 2012 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2012 No.05
With the increasing trend of global trades and protection of agro-ecosystem in importing and exporting countries against quarantine pest, quarantine and pre-shipment(QPS) fumigation in perishable commodites like strawberry is critical in terms of quality maintenance of fumigated commodites. Currently, there are limited use of MB fumigation on fruits and vegetables due to low temperature storage and phytotoxic effect or damage in postharvest qualities in many commodites. In this paper, efficacy and quality accessment of methyl bromide(MB) alternatives, ethyl formate and phosphine gas are presented for export strawberry. Efficacy of phosphine gas and ethyl formate are described in terms of concentration × time (CT) products to Frankliniella occidentalis, Aphis gossypii and Myzus persicae.

It is known that the poor soil fertility of newly reclaimed saline soils is due to the lack of organic matter and available mineral nutrients for crop production. The effect of green manuring with Sesbania aculeata in combination with five rates of urea-N treatments (N0. N25, N50, N75, N100) on the productivity of a subsequent whole-crop barley and the fertility of the reclaimed saline soil in Saemangeum was evaluated in the field during 2013-2014 growing season. Sesbania was grown during summer season (June to October). The amount of Sesbania incorporated was $16.2Mg\;ha^{-1}$. Sesbania contributed to $393kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ to the soils when ploughed down and incorporated before whole-crop barley cultivated. The performances of whole-crop barley following sesbania incorporation were significantly affected by a combination of Sesbania manuring and different N rates. The N fertilizer equivalence without N fertilizer following Sesbania was 42.6% ($63.9kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$), compared with N100 ($150kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$) in fallow soils. The whole-crop barley yield responded to N fertilizer rates in both sesbania-amended and fallow soil. The yield response to nitrogen rates in fallow soil was linear (Y=0.0586X+3.3011, $R^2=0.9534$), whereas that in sesbania-amended soils was quadratic (Y= -0.001X2+0.1322X+5.7143, $R^2=0.9576$). The yield of whole-crop barley in sesbania-amended with increasing N rates was increased up to SN75 (115 kgN) $10.3Mg\;ha^{-1}$. Apparent N recovery (ANR) of whole-crop barely showed decreased with sesbania plus increasing rates of N fertilizer. Despite higher yield with sesbania manuring plus increasing N rates, the contributions of N from Sesbania with increasing N rates to whole-crop barley were decreased, whereas those from fertilizer increment due to excessively mineralized Nitrogen. Considering yield, ANR, N contribution from Sesbania and nitrogen fertilizer, the optimum N rate was N50 rate following sesbania incorporation.

( Hye Young Lee ),( Su Young Kim ),( Jun-won Chung ),( Sun Mi Le ),( Jin-yong Jeong ) 대한내과학회 2016 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2016 No.1
Background/Aim: Resistance of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) to antibiotics has been increased. However, there are few data regarding the recently developed antibiotics. The aim of our study is to evaluate antimicrobial activity effects of new class on antibiotics resistant H. pylori. Methods: In total, 23 H. pylori strains were isolated and those strains included single and multiple drug-resistant strains: 4 reference strains, 11 single drug resistant strains (3 clarithromycin, 3 metronidazole, 3 levofloxacin, 2 amoxicillin), and 8 multidrug-resistant strains ( it was defined as resistance to ≥ 2 of the following antibiotics: clarithromycin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, and levofloxacin). The susceptibilities of the H. pylori strains to known 11 antibiotics were tested according to the broth microdilution technique. The MIC was defined as the lowest concentration of antibiotic that produced complete inhibition of visible growth.?Results: The MIC value of rifabutin and furazolidone showed lower than 0.038 μg/ml and 0.03 μg/ml, respectively. These substances appeared identical effect to multidrug-resistant H. pylori strains. Nine different antibiotics (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, tetracycline, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, moxifloxacin, and azithromycin) were partially effective against H. pylori strains. Gemifloxacin demonstrated relatively lower MIC value (1-8 ug/mL) than other quinolones for resistant strains.?Conclusions: This study shows that rifabutin, furazolidone, and gemifloxacin could be useful drugs against antibiotics resistant H. pylori. Future eradication regimen should be designed based on culture results for multidrug- resistant H. pylori.
Self-aligned deterministic coupling of single quantum emitter to nanofocused plasmonic modes

<P><B>Significance</B></P><P>Control and optimization of interaction between light and single quantum emitters are a crucial issue for cavity quantum electrodynamics studies and quantum information science. Although considerable efforts have been made, reliable and reproducible coupling between quantum emitter and cavity mode still remains a grand challenge due to the uncertainty of the size, i.e., the emission wavelength, and position of the quantum emitter. Here, we demonstrate an unprecedented approach of the self-aligned deterministic coupling of single quantum dots (QDs) to nanofocused plasmonic modes on an entire wafer. Spatial precision is better than any nanopositioning techniques, and almost all processed QDs exhibit outstanding spontaneous emission rate enhancement. This reliable approach eliminates a major obstacle in the implementation of practical solid-state quantum emitters.</P><P>The quantum plasmonics field has emerged and been growing increasingly, including study of single emitter–light coupling using plasmonic system and scalable quantum plasmonic circuit. This offers opportunity for the quantum control of light with compact device footprint. However, coupling of a single emitter to highly localized plasmonic mode with nanoscale precision remains an important challenge. Today, the spatial overlap between metallic structure and single emitter mostly relies either on chance or on advanced nanopositioning control. Here, we demonstrate deterministic coupling between three-dimensionally nanofocused plasmonic modes and single quantum dots (QDs) without any positioning for single QDs. By depositing a thin silver layer on a site-controlled pyramid QD wafer, three-dimensional plasmonic nanofocusing on each QD at the pyramid apex is geometrically achieved through the silver-coated pyramid facets. Enhancement of the QD spontaneous emission rate as high as 22 ± 16 is measured for all processed QDs emitting over ∼150-meV spectral range. This approach could apply to high fabrication yield on-chip devices for wide application fields, e.g., high-efficiency light-emitting devices and quantum information processing.</P>
