There are many algorithms for 2D to 3D graphic conversion technology which have the high complexity and large scale of iterative computation. So in this paper propose parallel algorithm and high speed graphics accelerator architecture using Park's MAMS(Multiple Access Memory System) for Phong Shading, one of many 3D algorithms. The Proposed SIMD processor architecture is simulated by HDL and simulated and got 30 times faster result. It means any kinds of 3D algorithm can make parallel algorithm and accelerated by SIMD processor with Park's MAMS for real time processing.

Objective: To determine whether characteristics of sperm motility obtained by computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA) could predict pregnancy after intrauterine insemination (IUI) in couples with unexplained infertility. Methods: Three hundred eighty-three cycles of intrauterine insemination with superovulation were retrospectively analyzed. Semen analysis was performed with CASA before and after swim-up and the parameters were compared between pregnant and non-pregnant women. Results: The pregnancy rate per cycle was 14.1%. Pregnant and non-pregnant women were comparable in terms of age, infertility duration, the number of dominant follicles. While sperm concentration, motility, and parameters such as average path velocity (VAP) and percentage rapid (RAPID) before semen preparation were significantly different between the pregnancy and non-pregnancy groups, there were no differences in sperm parameters when comparing the two groups after preparation. Using a receiver operating characteristic curve to measure sensitivity and specificity, the optimal threshold value for the predictors of pregnancy was revealed to be a concentration of ${\geq}111{\times}10^6/mL$, a motility of ${\geq}$ 51.4%, and RAPID ${\geq}$ 30.1% before preparation for IUI. Conclusion: Sperm parameters including concentration, motility, and RAPID before sperm preparation could have predictive value for pregnancy outcome after intrauterine insemination with superovulation in couples with unexplained infertility, and would be helpful when counseling patients before they make the decision to proceed with IVF/ICSI-ET.

Background : The identification of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the clinical laboratory has been typically performed by using methods that detect phenotypic expression of resistance determinants. However, these methods are not always reliable since phenotypic expression of methicillin resistance is known to be heterogeneous. In this study, MRSA-Screen test (Denka Seiken Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan), consisting of a slide latex agglution kit that detects PBP2a with a monoclonal antibody, was compared to the oxacillin disk diffusion test, the oxacillin-salt agar screen, agar dilution MIC and PCR of the mecA gene for the detection of methicillin resistance in S. aureus. Methods : A total of 48 MRSA and 46 methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) clinical isolates, defined by the presence or absence of the mecA gene, respectively, were tested. Results : The MRSA-Screen test, the oxacillin disk diffusion test, and the oxacillin-salt agar screening test showed sensitivity of 97.9%, 93.8%, and 97.9% and specificity of 100% in all three tests. Conclusion : We conclude that the MRSA-Screen is very accurate, reliable and easy to perform for detection of methicillin resistance in S.aureus. Introduction: Adipsic hypernatremia is characterized by chronic and recurrent episodes of severe hypernatremia associated with a lack of thirst and often associated abnormal development of the midline structures of the proencephalon, including corpus callosum, septum pellucidum. We report a rare case of adipsic hypernatremia associated with congenital defect of the corpus callosum and mental retardation. Case report: We report a 31-year-old male patient presenting with asymptomatic hypernatremia. He had been previously diagnosed with inguinal hernia. He was visited to our hospital for inguinal hernia operation. Laboratory values were as follows: serum Na, 166 mEq/L; blood urea nitrogen(BUN) 20.1 mg/dL; creatinin(Cr) 1.39 mg/dL; Physical examination revealed an alert mental status with mental retardation. The patient was reffered to division of nephrology for evaluation of hypernatremia. On admission, serum Na 167 mEq/L, blood urea nitrogen(BUN) 23 mg/dL, creatinin(Cr) 1.36 mg/dL, serum osmolality 347mOsm/Kg, urine osmolarity 869mOsm/kg. but he did not report thirst, weakness, polyuria. His vital sign was stable including pulse pressure. On physical examination, body weight, height and sexual development were normal. A MRI scan of the brain demonstrated anomalous corpus callosum and non-visualized septum pellucidum. And sex hormone, combined pituitary function test were normal. A water deprivation test and water load test were comducted. Plasma arginine vasopressin (AVP) level was low, and neither stimulated by hyperosmolality nor suppressed by hypoosmolality. He was diagnosed a hypothalamic adipsic hypernatremia associated with corpus callosum defect. He was educated about the importance of water intake and we got him to drink more water. 1 month later, the follow-up serum Na, osmolality decreased gradually to 137mEq/L, 281mOsm/Kg. Conclusion: we report an unusual case that showed hypothalamic adipsic hypernatremia, congenital defect of corpus callosum and mental retardation. This case suggests hypothalamic adipsic hypernatremia must be suspected when a dehydrated patient denies thirst and that there is a need to hormone study and forced hydration in these patients including brain images.

Abstract

Preconditioning with hypoxia or hypoxia-mimetic agents has been tried with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to improve the secretion of anti-inflammatory factors. These preconditioning procedures upregulate hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) 1-alpha leading to the transcription of HIF-dependent tissue protective and anti-inflammatory genes. Due to the limited number of studies exploring the activity of deferoxamine (DFO)—a hypoxia-mimetic agent—in MSCs, we aimed to determine whether DFO can enhance the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in canine adipose tissue-derived (cAT)-MSCs. Furthermore, we investigated whether this activity of DFO could affect macrophage polarization and activate anti-inflammatory reactions. cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO exhibited enhanced secretion of anti-inflammatory factors such as prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor-α-stimulated gene-6. To evaluate the interaction between DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs and macrophages, RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with cAT-MSCs using the Transwell system, and changes in the expression of factors related to macrophage polarization were analyzed using the quantitative real-time PCR and western blot assays. When RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs, the expression of M1 and M2 markers decreased and increased, respectively, compared to co-culturing with non-preconditioned cAT-MSCs. Thus, cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO can more effectively direct and reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase, an anti-inflammatory state.

Highlights

Deferoxamine enhances the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in cAT-MSCs.

DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs exhibit enhanced prostaglandin E2 and TSG-6 secretion.

DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase.

Preconditioning of cAT-MSCs with DFO may be applicable clinically.
