The development of external prestressing has been one of the major trends in improvement of structural performance of deteriorated concrete structures during the last decade. This paper deals with the technical problem related to the use of external prestressing for PSC girder bridges in order to emphasize a critical question of the splitting tensile stress in the concrete zone of the anchorage newly attached to the prestressed girder. By employing a program for nonlinear finite element analysis, a specific type of anchorage concrete zone was analyzed with certain parameters. The results show that the localized splitting tensile stress induced by the anchor pin bearing pressure is effectively controlled by the bottom bearing plate pressure, and the horizontal distance between the pin and the bearing plate is appeared to be a key parameter in designing of an optimal anchorage device.

Effect of tertiary amine photo-accelerator on the esthetic properties of visible light-activated polymeric dental restorative composites (PDRC) was investigated. The surface of barium silicate (avg. diameter : 1㎛) was hydrophobically treated with γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane to improve the interfacial behavior with the resin matrix composed of 2,2'-bis-[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl]-propane (70 wt%) triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (30 wt%) in PDRC. A half wt% of camphorquinone was adopted as a photo-initiator and various amine reagents which contents were varied from 0.2 to 3.0 wt% based on the resin matrix were used as a photo-accelerator. In the present study, effect of photo-accelerator on the esthetic properties of PDRC was characterized by measuring the Hunter L, a, and b values using a colorimeter. Also, scanning electron microscopy was utilized to investigate the surface characteristics of PDRC prepared herein.

Effect of photo-accelerator on the polymerization behavior of light-activated polymeric composites for dental restoratives was investigated. As a filler component, barium silicate (avg. diameter : 1㎛) was used after treating its surface with γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane coupling agent to improve the interfacial behavior with the resing matrix of 2,2'-bis-[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)-phenyl]propane/triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (70/30 wt%). A visible light system was utilized to activate the resin matrix in the composite. In addition, 0.5 wt% of camphorquinone was adopted as a photo-initiator and various tertiary amine compounds which contents were varied from 0.2 to 3.0 wt% based on the resin matrix were used as a photo-accelerator. Effect of photo-accelerator on the polymerization behavior of the dental composite was characterized by measuring the degree of conversion using FT-IR, polymerization shrinkage, and depth of cure.

Effect of camphorquinone (CQ) photoinitiator on the dental properties of polymeric dental restorative composites (PDRC) was investigated. The surface of the barium silicate filler (avg. diameter 1μm) was treated with γ-methacryloxypropyl-trimethoxysilanc to improve the interfacial behavior between the resin matrix and filler. A visible light system was utilized to activate the resin matrix in PDRC and the contents of CQ were varied from 0.1 to 1.0 wt% based on 2.2'-bis-[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl]propane/triethyleneglycoldimethacrvlate (70/30 wt%/wt%) resin matrix. From the experimental results, it was discovered that the PDRC prepared using 0.5 wt% of CQ based on the resin matrix resulted in the finest dental properties.

Effect of photo-accelerator (PA) on the mechanical properties of light-activated polymeric dental restorative composites (PDRC) was investigated. A visible lihgt system was adopted to activate the resin matrix [(2,2'-bis-[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl]propane/triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate, 70/30 wt%] in the PDRC. Silanized barium silicate (75 wt% of PDRC) and camphorquinone (0.5 wt% of the resin matrix) were also used as a filler and photo-initiator, respectively. A variety of aliphatic or aromatic amines were adopted as a PA and their contents were varied from 0.2 to 3.0 wt% of the resin matrix. Effect of PA on the mechanical properties of PDRC was characterized by measuring the diametral tensile strength, flexural strength, and flexural modulus.
