This video study examines teachers’ questioning practices in English language classrooms in Malaysia, and how different types of questions, wait time, and reaction moves influence classroom interaction. The study found that although there was an overarching monologicality across all classrooms, teachers’ questioning practices were not limited to the typical, monologic mixture of display questions, non-existent or short wait time, and/or reaction moves which could obstruct student talk. There were also opportunities for dialogicality initiated through teachers’ employment of referential questions, longer wait time, and/or reaction moves which could facilitate advanced student talk, but monologicality in classroom interaction persisted. Such observation directs our attention to the understanding and further contemplation that nurturing dialogicality is not a mere issue of strategy use.

We report the optical behaviors of the Fe-doped CaMnO3 family of compounds at low dopingconcentrations x 5%. The study aims at assisting the evaluation of the competition between ferroandantiferromagnetic orderings, which is believed to be a cause of many interesting properties of thisclass of compounds, including the magnetization reversal effect recently discovered. The structuralcharacterization showed a predominant orthorhombic phase with slightly increased cell constantsdue to doping. The Raman spectra revealed changes associated with the Mn sites, and the IRabsorption spectrum showed a characteristic Fe band at 1.2 eV, which should be accompanied bya change of spin. The analysis of the magnetization data allowed us to predict that while thedoping reduced the ferromagnetic coupling strength, and therefore the TC, the maximal dopingconcentration for the effective exchange to be zero was around 14%.
Energy effect on the gamma analysis in the proton therapy end-to-end test with EBT film

We analyzed the efect of energy on the gamma analysis results in an end-to-end test using EBT3 flm for the proton therapy facility commissioning. The EBT3 flm calibration was performed using a single energy layer and SOBP-based flm calibration methods to compare which is better. The results showed that the SOBP method exhibits better results for gamma passing ratio with all criteria. Also, results in gamma values showed the best score for middle energy level for both methods. This is due to the increased flm sensitivity with averaged LET from SOBP and maximum dose with middle energy proton beams. All gamma evaluation results showed over 95% with 3%-3 mm criteria with SOBP method; however, in lower single energybased calibration method, gamma result can be worse than 95%, but still over 90% of passing criteria. Dose measurement results showed the uncertainty less than 3% compared to calculated dose from the treatment planning system. SOBP-based calibration can be suggested for more accurate end-to-end test for the commissioning.

Interferon-gamma (IFN-${\gamma}$) has been used to treat various malignant tumors. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the direct anti-proliferative activity of IFN-${\gamma}$ are poorly understood. In the present study, we examined the in vitro antitumor activity of IFN-${\gamma}$ on two human non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cell lines, H322M and H226. Our findings indicated that IFN-${\gamma}$ treatment caused a time-dependent reduction in cell viability and induced apoptosis through a FADD-mediated caspase-8/tBid/mitochondria-dependent pathway in both cell lines. Notably, we also postulated that IFN-${\gamma}$ increased indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) expression and enzymatic activity in H322M and H226 cells. In addition, inhibition of IDO activity by the IDO inhibitor 1-MT or tryptophan significantly reduced IFN-${\gamma}$-induced apoptosis and death receptor 5 (DR5) expression, which suggests that IDO enzymatic activity plays an important role in the anti-NSCLC cancer effect of IFN-${\gamma}$. These results provide new mechanistic insights into interferon-${\gamma}$ antitumor activity and further support IFN-${\gamma}$ as a potential therapeutic adjuvant for the treatment of NCSLC.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of three-monthly paliperidone palmitate (PP3M) in Asian patients with stable schizophrenia in a naturalistic setting. Methods: Asian patients recruited between May 2016 and March 2018 from the prospective, single-arm, non-randomized, open-label, multi-national REMISSIO study were analyzed. Patients received PP3M over 12 months following ≥ 4 months of treatment with one-monthly paliperidone palmitate. The primary efficacy endpoint was the proportion of patients who achieved symptomatic remission. Other endpoints were changes in Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Personal and Social Performance (PSP) total scores, hospitalization rates, and safety. Results: A total of 71 patients (23.3%) were Asian (South Korea: 33, Malaysia: 21, Taiwan: 17); 95.8% of patients completed the study. At LOCF, 71% of Asian patients achieved symptomatic remission compared to the overall population (n = 172/303, 56.8%). Improvements in mean (standard deviation) PANSS and PSP total scores from baseline to LOCF in Asian patients and overall population were clinically significant. A lower proportion of Asian patients had ≥ 1 psychiatric hospitalization after PP3M treatment (n = 1/70, 1.4%) than during the 12 months before (n = 12/70, 17.1%); compared with patients in the overall population after (n = 8/303, 2.6%) and before PP3M treatment (n = 37/303, 12.2%). The overall incidence of treatment-emergent adverse events across Asian patients was 62.9% compared to 53.1% in the overall population. Safety findings were consistent with the known safety profile of PP3M. Conclusion: Our findings confirm existing evidence on the efficacy and tolerability of PP3M in Asian patients with stable schizophrenia over 12 months of treatment.
