A Novel Cross-Layer Dynamic Integrated Priority-Computing Scheme for 3G+ Systems

Wang, Weidong,Wang, Zongwen,Zhao, Xinlei,Zhang, Yinghai,Zhou, Yao The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2012 Journal of communications and networks Vol.14 No.1

As Internet protocol and wireless communications have developed, the number of different types of mobile services has increased gradually. Existing priority-computing schemes cannot satisfy the dynamic requirements of supporting multiple services in future wireless communication systems, because the currently used factors, mainly user priority, are relatively simple and lack relevancy. To solve this problem and provide the desired complexity, dynamic behavior, and fairness features of 3G and beyond 3G mobile communication systems, this paper proposes a novel cross-layer dynamic integrated priority-computing scheme that computes the priority based on a variety of factors, including quality of service requirements, subscriber call types, waiting time, movement mode, and traffic load from the corresponding layers. It is observed from simulation results that the proposed dynamic integrated priority scheme provides enhanced performance.

Novel Calibration Method for the Multi-Camera Measurement System

Xinlei Wang 한국광학회 2014 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.18 No.6

In a multi-camera measurement system, the determination of the external parameters is one of the vital tasks, referred to as the calibration of the system. In this paper, a new geometrical calibration method, which is based on the theory of the vanishing line, is proposed. Using a planar target with three equally spaced parallel lines, the normal vector of the target plane can be confirmed easily in every camera coordinate system of the measurement system. By moving the target into more than two different positions, the rotation matrix can be determined from related theory, i.e., the expression of the same vector in different coordinate systems. Moreover, the translation matrix can be derived from the known distance between the adjacent parallel lines. In this paper, the main factors effecting the calibration are analyzed. Simulations show that the proposed method achieves robustness and accuracy. Experimental results show that the calibration can reach 1.25 mm with the range about 0.5m. Furthermore, this calibration method also can be used for auto-calibration of the multi-camera measurement system as the feature of parallels exists widely.

The Student’s t approximation to distributions of pivotal statistics from ranked set samples

안수현,임요한,Xinlei Wang 한국통계학회 2014 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.43 No.4

For data collected using ranked set sampling, pivotal statistics are commonly used in inferentialprocedures for testing the population mean, and their asymptotic distributionsare used as surrogates of the underlying true distributions. However, the sample size of aranked set sample (RSS) is often small so that the distribution of its pivotal statistic can deviatemuch from the limiting normality. In this paper, we propose to approximate the distributionby the Student’s t distribution, of which the number of degrees of freedom (DF) isestimated from the data. We consider three estimators of the DF, two based on the Welchtypeapproximation (Welch, 1947) and the third simply given by the difference betweenthe total sample size and the set size of the RSS. We numerically compare the correspondingapproximate t distributions with the asymptotic normal distribution via simulation intwo aspects: (i) the approximation error; and (ii) the coverage probability. We also applythe proposed Student’s t approximation to tree height data in Platt et al. (1988) and Chenet al. (2003). Our results show that all the three approximate t distributions seem to be consistentlybetter than the asymptotic normal distribution for the RSS under both perfect andimperfect ranking. We further give recommendations to practitioners based on the relativeperformance of the three DF estimators.

      • Algorithms of Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential Extraction

Haijun Lin,Xinlei Wang,Jia Yu,Bo Liu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.10

To extract the brainstem auditory evoked potentials and remove the spontaneous electroencephalograph and other background noises, the paper proposed a new method of wavelet information entropy theory de-noising based on wavelet de-noising. In the method, the threshold function is improved by introducing the weighting factor and determine the weighting factor according to the wavelet information entropy to obtain a better de-noising effect. The simulation experiment shows, compared to the traditional wavelet de-noising method, the new method can preserve the details of the signal better and make the signal waveform smoother. At the same time, the new method can suppress the pulse signal, which make the system has a better de-noising performance and achieve higher quality extraction brainstem auditory evoked potentials.

Accuracy of regularized D-rule for binary classification

Son, Won,Lim, Johan,Wang, Xinlei The Korean Statistical Society,Korean Internationa 2018 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.47 No.2

We consider a regularized D-classification rule for high dimensional binary classification, which adapts the linear shrinkage estimator of a covariance matrix as an alternative to the sample covariance matrix in the D-classification rule (D-rule in short). We find an asymptotic expression for misclassification rate of the regularized D-rule, when the sample size n and the dimension p both increase and their ratio p/n approaches a positive constant <TEX>${\gamma}$</TEX>. In addition, we compare its misclassification rate to the standard D-rule under various settings via simulation.

Relationships between Islet-Specific Autoantibody Titers and the Clinical Characteristics of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus

        Yiqian Zhang,Tong Yin,Xinlei Wang,Rongping Zhang,Jie Yuan,Yi Sun,Jing Zong,Shiwei Cui,Yunjuan Gu 대한당뇨병학회 2021 Diabetes and Metabolism Journal Vol.45 No.3

Background: Dysimmunity plays a key role in diabetes, especially type 1 diabetes mellitus. Islet-specific autoantibodies (ISAs) have been used as diagnostic markers for different phenotypic classifications of diabetes. This study was aimed to explore the relationships between ISA titers and the clinical characteristics of diabetic patients. Methods: A total of 509 diabetic patients admitted to Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were recruited. Anthropometric parameters, serum biochemical index, glycosylated hemoglobin, urinary microalbumin/creatinine ratio, ISAs, fat mass, and islet β-cell function were measured. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to identify relationships between ISA titers and clinical characteristics. Results: Compared with autoantibody negative group, blood pressure, weight, total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), visceral fat mass, fasting C-peptide (FCP), 120 minutes C-peptide (120minCP) and area under C-peptide curve (AUCCP) of patients in either autoantibody positive or glutamate decarboxylase antibody (GADA) positive group were lower. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, triglycerides (TGs), body fat mass of patients in either autoantibody positive group were lower than autoantibody negative group. GADA titer negatively correlated with TC, LDL-C, FCP, 120minCP, and AUCCP. The islet cell antibody and insulin autoantibody titers both negatively correlated with body weight, BMI, TC, TG, and LDL-C. After adjusting confounders, multiple linear regression analysis showed that LDL-C and FCP negatively correlated with GADA titer. Conclusion: Diabetic patients with a high ISA titer, especially GADA titer, have worse islet β-cell function, but less abdominal obesity and fewer features of the metabolic syndrome.

        Yu, Donghyeon,Lim, Johan,Wang, Xinlei,Liang, Faming,Xiao, Guanghua BioMed Central 2017 BMC bioinformatics Vol.18 No.1

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Gene regulatory networks reveal how genes work together to carry out their biological functions. Reconstructions of gene networks from gene expression data greatly facilitate our understanding of underlying biological mechanisms and provide new opportunities for biomarker and drug discoveries. In gene networks, a gene that has many interactions with other genes is called a hub gene, which usually plays an essential role in gene regulation and biological processes. In this study, we developed a method for reconstructing gene networks using a partial correlation-based approach that incorporates prior information about hub genes. Through simulation studies and two real-data examples, we compare the performance in estimating the network structures between the existing methods and the proposed method.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>In simulation studies, we show that the proposed strategy reduces errors in estimating network structures compared to the existing methods. When applied to <I>Escherichia coli</I>, the regulation network constructed by our proposed ESPACE method is more consistent with current biological knowledge than the SPACE method. Furthermore, application of the proposed method in lung cancer has identified hub genes whose mRNA expression predicts cancer progress and patient response to treatment.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>We have demonstrated that incorporating hub gene information in estimating network structures can improve the performance of the existing methods.</P>
