A Neural Network Aided Kalman Filtering Approach for SINS/RDSS Integrated Navigation

Kalman filtering (KF) is hard to be applied to the SINS (Strap-down Inertial Navigation System)/RDSS (Radio Determination Satellite Service) integrated navigation system directly because the time delay of RDSS positioning in active mode is random. BP (Back-Propagation) Neuron computing as a powerful technology of Artificial Neural Network (ANN), is appropriate to solve nonlinear problems such as the random time delay of RDSS without prior knowledge about the mathematical process involved. The new algorithm betakes a BP neural network (BPNN) and velocity feedback to aid KF in order to overcome the time delay of RDSS positioning. Once the BP neural network was trained and converged, the new approach will work well for SINS/RDSS integrated navigation. Dynamic vehicle experiments were performed to evaluate the performance of the system. The experiment results demonstrate that the horizontal positioning accuracy of the new approach is 40.62 m (1σ), which is better than velocity-feedback-based KF. The experimental results also show that the horizontal positioning error of the navigation system is almost linear to the positioning interval of RDSS within 5 minutes. The approach and its anti-jamming analysis will be helpful to the applications of SINS/RDSS integrated systems.
Structural deformation monitoring and service reliability analysis for slab track in plateau areas

How to effectively monitor the structural condition of slab track and determine its service reliability is a key problem to be solved in the development of high-speed rail (HSR) lines in plateau areas, due to the influence of extreme climate, such as low air pressure, dryness and large temperature difference. To this end, this paper first develops an online displacement monitoring system for double-block slab track. Considering the actual operation condition of the HSR line, this system uses the non-contact vision sensing technique to measure the slab displacement. The slab temperature is also measured synchronously by the system. Then, the relationship between atmospheric temperature and the displacement of the slab track is discussed. The monitoring data are grouped according to three temperature states when being collected: stable temperature, rapid temperature rise, and rapid temperature drop. Finally, the serviceability limit state (SLS) equation of slab track is established and the service reliability of slab track under three temperature conditions is calculated using Monte Carlo method. The results show that track slab deformation is highly sensitive to temperature change and can significantly affect the service reliability of the slab track; compared with the period of “stable temperature”, when the temperature rises rapidly, the reliability index of the slab track decreases from 4.48 to 3.92 and the corresponding failure possibility increases around 12 times. This research can provide data support and theoretical basis for intelligent health management of the HSR slab track in the plateau area.

Cane molasses (CM), an agro-industrial by-product, was first examined for docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)production by Schizochytrium sp. Cell dry weight as 21.94 g/L at treated CM cultivation was similar to that at pure glucose (26.7 g/L) cultivation. Batch fermentation at different initial CM concentration showed that DHA percentage could reach 47.51% at 10 g/L CM but only 37.90% at 70 g/L CM. By analyzing the fermentation process, monosodium glutamate might be a positive agent for effective DHA production. Finally, monosodium glutamate and malic acid were introduced to the fed-batch fermentation for effective DHA production.

Whether Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) can be transmitted to offspring, has been a noticeable question for a long time. When fifth instar larvae of the silkworm were orally inoculated with BmNPV dot hybridization and PCR amplification analysis demonstrated that BmNPV was not detected in the eggs laid by BmNPV productively infected female moths. The results indicated that BmNPV could not be transovarially transmitted.
Lack of Association Between CYP1A1 Polymorphisms and Risk of Bladder Cancer: a Meta-analysis

Background: The effects of CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms on the risk of bladder cancer (BC) remain controversial. We carried out a meta-analysis to clarify the role of CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms in BC. Material and Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted up to November 20, 2013. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to estimate the strength of the association. Meta-regression, subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis and publication bias were also performed. Results: Eight studies involving 1,059 BC cases and 1,061 controls were included. The meta-analysis showed that there was no significant association between the two common mutations of CYP1A1 and BC risk. For the I1e462Val A/G polymorphism with GG vs. AA the OR was 1.47 (95 % CI= 0.70-3.07, P =0.308). For the MspI T/C polymorphism, though a slight trend was found this was not statistically nonsignificant (CC vs.TT, OR = 1.24, 95 % CI= 0.98-1.58, P =0.078). Subgroup analyses by ethnicity also found no obvious association between CYP1A1 and BC risk. Conclusion: The present meta-analysis suggests that CYP1A1 polymorphism is not associated with bladder cancer risk.

Cationic liposomes complexed with DNA have been extensively utilized for the delivery of reporter or therapeutic genes both in culture and in vivo. We investigated and determined the optimum conditions of a cationic liposome, composed of dimethyldioctadecy-lammonium bromide (DDAB) and dioleoyl phosphati-dylethanolamine UOPE), mediated a reporter plasmid expressing luciferase into insect cell lines (Sf-21 and Bm-N) and silkworm larvae. Together the data demonstrated that Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) genomic DNA (128 kb) was successfully transfected into Bm-5 cells using this liposome. These results suggest that DDAB/DOPE liposome will be useful as delivery agents for gene transfer to insect cells both in vitro and in vivo.

The CKLF-like MARVEL transmembrane domain-containing family (CMTM) is a novel family of proteins linking classical chemokines and the transmembrane 4 superfamily (TM4SF). Our earlier studies indicated several CMTM members (such as CKLF1 and CMTM2) have a secreted form. This is the first report of the secreted form of CMTM5-v1, the major RNA splicing form of CMTM5, which is produced as small vesicles (<100 nm diameter) and floats at a peak density of 1.19 g/ml on continuous sucrose gradients. CMTM5-v1 has no obvious co-localization with CD63 or Golgi complex. In addition, brefeldin A but not wortmannin can inhibit the secretion of CMTM5-v1. Our results suggest that CMTM5-v1 might be secreted via a different vesicle-mediated secretory pathway, which will be helpful for the studies of vesicle-mediated secretion and MARVEL domain-containing proteins. A taxonomic study of genus Teleogryllus from East Asia (Insecta: Orthoptera: Gryllidae)

Crickets belonging to Teleogryllus spp. are widely distributed in East Asia and they are difficult to distinguish. In this study, a phylogenetic tree of Teleogryllus is reconstructed by COI gene, and all species can be distinguished well. The possible evolutionary histories of male genitalia, songs and life history are discussed. The result supports establishing subgenera Macroteleogryllus and Brachyteleogryllus of Teleogryllus spp. from East Asia. T. boninensis is moved to Brachyteleogryllus. The calling song of four species includes both long and short chirps, and the rest just have single chirps. The species inhabit sympatrically trend to have different type of calling song. Egg overwinter type evolved several times independently.
